ICC_Champions_Trophy_cricket_logoThe eighth edition of the Champions Trophy commences at the Oval in London on 1st June 2017. India has the best record of all teams who have participated in the tournament: they have won the tournament twice, as have Australia. India has also won the most matches in all seven editions combined and have the best Win-Loss ratio. Here are some statistical highlights and milestones from the 19-year history of the tournament.

818/37 - Catches win matches. No matter how well the bowlers bowl unless they are supported by the fielders, all their efforts will go in vain. Out of the 818 catches taken in the tournament, 225 have been pouched by wicket-keepers while 593 have been taken by outfield players. There have been 37 stumpings effected by wicket-keepers. Sangakkara leads the list in catches and stumpings taken by wicket-keepers with 28 and 5 respectively. Mahela has taken the most catches by a non-wicket-keeper with 22 to his name.

468 - Taking wickets is the best way to slow down the opposition run rate. However, pressure can also be built by bowling maidens. There have been a total of 468 maidens bowled across all 7 editions. Chaminda Vaas of Sri Lanka has bowled the most maidens with 19.
