Offspinner Dane Peidt has been called up to the South African Test squad for the 3rd Test.
He will join the squad after the 2nd Test has already commenced.
Piedt has been preferred ahead of Tabraiz Shamsi, South Africa’s go-to spinner who toured Australia and Imran Tahir, who hasn’t played a Test since 2015.
Piedt last played for South Africa in August 2016. He was replaced by Keshav Maharaj, who is the only spinner in the squad at the moment.
Piedt has been taken as an extra spinning option after spinning conditions were terrific during the 1st Test match.
The South Africans expected the pitch to be pace-friendly and consequently took 6 fast bowlers with them but were in for a shock when the spinners prevailed.
The 3-match Test series is currently 0-0 with 2 matches to go. The 1st Test was drawn after the final day was washed out due to rain.
