Australia A squad boycott tour of South Africa

Australia A tour of South Africa has been canceled on Thursday as confirmed by Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA). The decision was agreed by the Australia A captain Usman Khawaja, Travis Head and Glen Maxwell.

The players, along with Australian Cricketers’ Association has held Cricket Australia responsible for their decision.

On the other hand, Cricket Australia (CA) says it regrets the players’ decision. There is no update yet on when the agreement will be settled.

The cricketers became just the second Australian sporting team to effectively take strike action, following the national women's soccer team's boycott of a United States tour in 2015.

ACA said,

The Australia A players have sacrificed their own ambitions for the collective, (It's) an incredibly selfless act that shows their strength and overall commitment to the group. All players are deeply disappointed at the behaviour of CA which forces this course of action, given the players would rather be playing for their country.

CA earlier had refused to attend mediation or relax some of the MoU terms. ACA believes that without any mediation it will be difficult to reach an agreement.

Australia's tour of Bangladesh now seems to be in danger and all eyes will be on this next critical point in the dispute over the revenue-share model.
