19.3 - Shapoor to Moeen Ali, FOUR, they are clapping. They are clapping in the dugout. Ali has revived hopes in the camp with a stupendous rearguard effort. Shapoor misses with a yorker again and is carved over mid-off. Picked his spot

18.3 - Amir Hamza to Moeen Ali, FOUR, he's hacked that down the ground. Hamza has fired it very wide outside off, Ali reaches out and mows it off the bottom of the bat. Enough power to split long-on and long-off

17.1 - Shapoor to Moeen Ali, FOUR, it's a poor ball with fine leg up. The change-up is fine from Shapoor, as an off-cutter is a good option. But he directs it on leg, and is easily glanced past the infield

15.2 - Nabi to Moeen Ali, FOUR, lucky. Very lucky. England don't care. Ali sees the flatter trajectory and rocks back, looks to slice his punch into the off-side but can only manage a thick edge which scoots away through the vacant slip region

14.1 - Rashid Khan to Jordan, FOUR, Rashid has been very off-colour with his length. Drops it well short outside off and Jordan swats the pull between mid-wicket and long-on

13.4 - Nabi to Jordan, FOUR, darted on the pads and Jordan whips it very fine off an inside edge. Slides away on this quick outfield and beats the effort from a chasing short fine leg

9.1 - Rashid Khan to Stokes, FOUR, loosener from Rashid, drags it down and on Stokes' pads, he rocks back and pulls it past square leg, beats the man getting across in the deep

6.3 - Shenwari to Buttler, FOUR, lovely shot, Shenwari gave this one plenty of air, the line was well outside off, Buttler gets forward and punches it powerfully past cover, the man in the deep is very square and can't get to the ball

5.0 - Amir Hamza to James Vince, FOUR, too short from Hamza, Vince makes room outside leg and cuts it square past cover-point, expensive over from Hamza, 14 came from it

4.3 - Amir Hamza to Root, FOUR, nicely done by Root, this was pushed through on off, Root gets down low, reverses the bat face and laps it very fine past the keeper, beats short third man and rolls away to the fence

4.1 - Amir Hamza to James Vince, FOUR, Hamza drops one short and just outside off, Vince makes room and cuts it square past cover, beat the fielder in the ring and rolls away to the fence

3.1 - Shapoor to James Vince, FOUR, nicely done by Vince, fraction overpitched and just outside off, Vince gets forward, presents the full face of the bat and punches it to the right of mid-off, no need to run for those

2.1 - Amir Hamza to James Vince, FOUR, lovely shot, Vince comes down the track, makes room as he did so and stylishly goes over cover, a couple of bounces and over the ropes

1.5 - Shapoor to Jason Roy, FOUR, lovely shot, on a good length and on off, Roy presents the full face of the bat, drives it on the up and beats mid-on to his left, first boundary of the day for Roy

19.0 - Amir Hamza to Willey, SIX, wider of long-on but another maximum. Massive over. 25 off it. And this pair is lifting England to a fighting score. Hamza tries to fire it full but misses the blockhole and goes all the way with a ruthless heave

18.5 - Amir Hamza to Willey, SIX, he's launched it into the stands over long-on. Quicker but right in the slot to be clubbed hard. Willey extends his elbows and dispatches it away

18.2 - Amir Hamza to Moeen Ali, SIX, this is valuable. Very very valuable from Ali. Down on one knee and crunches the slog-sweep over deep mid-wicket

4.0 - Shapoor to Root, SIX, cracking shot, a fraction too short from Zadran, Root is quick to swivel back and pulls it high and over mid-wicket, there's a fielder in the deep, but he's a mere spectator, off the mark in style

14.3 - Rashid Khan to Jordan, out Caught&Bowled!! Oh there's another. Another wicket. England sink further. But what a poor shot. Trying to pick a leg-break from outside off into the leg-side. Closes the bat-face too early and pops a leading edge straight back to Rashid who was ready. England's world is falling apart. On a scale of 1 to 10 where 10 is pathetic, this is 500. Jordan c and b Rashid Khan 15(18) [4s-2]

9.2 - Rashid Khan to Stokes, out Bowled!! Rashid has got a wicket with a half-tracker! He's chuffed to bits, Stokes is furious as he walks back to the hut. This was dropped short and on the stumps, a rank bad ball from the bowler. Stokes saw the opportunity for runs, rocked back for the pull, to his horror, the ball never rose, he ends up getting a toe-edge that rolls back onto the stumps. Stokes was on the floor, looks gutted as he walks back to the hut. Stokes b Rashid Khan 7(8) [4s-1]

8.1 - Shenwari to Buttler, out Caught by Nabi!! Nabi can't do anything wrong today! He takes wickets, he runs batsmen out and he now takes a brilliant catch to get rid of the dangerous Buttler. England are shell-shocked, their captain looks stunned in the dug-out. This was tossed up invitingly outside off, Buttler was looking to play the drive on the up, hits it sweetly but in the air, to the left of extra cover. Nabi threw himself at the ball, went with both hands and grabs a beauty. Buttler c Nabi b Shenwari 6(10) [4s-1]

6.0 - Nabi to Stokes, out Root Run Out!! Root is livid as he walks back to the hut. England find themselves in shambles at the Kotla, Afghanistan sense something special. This was the slider from Nabi, Stokes lunged forward on the defensive push, gets an inside edge to the left of mid-wicket. Root was haring across for a quick single, Stokes wasn't in any mood for the single. Rashid gets across from short fine and throws it at the bowler, an over eager Nabi broke the bails off even before the ball arrived, but he has the presence of mind to collect the ball and then takes out one stump. Root was still miles short and is sent back on his way. Root run out (Rashid Khan/Nabi) 12(8) [4s-1 6s-1]

5.4 - Nabi to Eoin Morgan, out Bowled!! The England captain comes and goes, that's a complete misjudgement from Morgan, ends up losing his wicket. This was tossed up from round the wicket, Eoin Morgan got half-a-stride forward, doesn't cover for the drift, left his off-stump exposed. The ball sneaked its way past Morgan and crashes into the off-stump. A stunned Morgan walks back to the hut, Nabi is on a hat-trick. Eoin Morgan b Nabi 0(1)

5.3 - Nabi to James Vince, out Caught&Bowled!! That's beautifully bowled by Nabi! He's done the batsman with lots of flight and drift, gave this one plenty of air, lured Vince into the drive, he was a tad early on the shot, doesn't get close to the pitch either, ends up lobbing a simple return catch to the bowler. A dolly for the bowler and he doesn't drop those, England lose their second wicket. James Vince c and b Nabi 22(18) [4s-4]

3.0 - Amir Hamza to Jason Roy, out Bowled!! Reward for Hamza! His line has been outstanding, this was fired flatter and on the stumps, Roy came down the track, gets cramped for room, ends up playing across the line, he misses and the leg-stump is knocked back. Celebrations in the Afghan camp, a failure for Roy today. Jason Roy b Amir Hamza 5(7) [4s-1]

2.2 - Amir Hamza to James Vince, no run, that was a chance, Amir Hamza fired one short and just outside off as Vince came down the track, he was looking to cut, gets a thick edge through to the keeper. Too quick for Mohammad Shahzad and he can't hold on, that will go down as a missed catch

19.2 - Shapoor to Willey, leg byes, 1 run, that's superb from Shahzad. He's stopped a certain four. Low full toss which runs away fine off the pads, and Shahzad is quick to move across with a dive. Ali and Willey scamper a leg-bye though

20.0 - Stokes to Shafiqullah, FOUR, England win by 15 runs. The players shake hands. The Afghanistan dugout looks glum. They know this was their best chance. Pitched up just outside off, Shafiq clears his front leg and whacks it through extra cover, bisecting the two fielders in the deep

19.1 - Stokes to Shafiqullah, FOUR, just the start for Afghanistan. Short and outside off, Shafiq had the width to throw the kitchen sink, gets it off the toe-end and the ball runs away to the left of short third man. Stokes is on his knees..

18.3 - Jordan to Shafiqullah, FOUR, Shafiq decides to take the yorker out of equation, shimmies down and takes it on the full and tonks it hard straight down the ground, splitting long-on and long-off to perfection

17.3 - Willey to Shafiqullah, FOUR, the crowd still believe Afghanistan can do it. Shafiq premeditated the full toss, walked across and went on his knee to scoop it fine, the fielder in the circle had no chance

16.1 - Stokes to Shenwari, FOUR, a much needed boundary. Shenwari has not yet given up. Pitched up outside off, Shenwari clears his front leg, hammers it along the ground through extra cover, mid-off was inside the ring and he had no chance

13.3 - Moeen Ali to Najibullah, FOUR, horrible delivery and deserved the treatment. Short and down leg, Najibullah swivels and helps it round the corner, wide of short fine and deep backward square

5.0 - Willey to Rashid Khan, FOUR, much needed boundary. And it's cleverly played. Arches his back to create the room and merely helps the short of length delivery over the vacant cordon with a ramp

0.1 - Willey to Mohammad Shahzad, FOUR, what a ball. Shahzad just nods, smiles and shrugs it off. Why wouldn't he? He's got four. Shapes to swing back in on off, Shahzad has to play, then holds its line to take the outside edge. Runs away past short third man

18.4 - Jordan to Shafiqullah, SIX, that's massive. Jordan misses the yorker and dishes out a friendly full toss in the swinging arc, Shafiq winds up for the mow and sends it soaring high over long-on for a maximum

17.0 - Stokes to Shafiqullah, SIX, they keep swinging hard, don't they. Ends the over on a high. Length delivery on the stumps, Shafiq stoops low to get the leverage, heaves it over backward square, there was a fielder in the deep and he could only watch the ball sail over

14.0 - Moeen Ali to Najibullah, SIX, that's outta here. Afghanistan are still not out of it. Najibullah brings out his dancing shoes, shimmies down to reach the ball and smacks it over wide long-on. That made a nice sound when bat made contact with the ball

11.0 - Adil Rashid to Nabi, SIX, immediately Nabi makes them pay. Dances down the wicket, gets right to the pitch of the ball and smashes it straight down the ground. Jordan at long-on thought, he was in with a chance but it sailed well over him

5.4 - Jordan to Rashid Khan, SIX, that's been smoked over backward point. Gee, he hit that hard. Short outside off, and he slashes it all the way. That was worth the 9-ball wait

18.1 - Jordan to Shafiqullah, out Amir Hamza Run Out!! Where was Hamza going? Slower delivery around off, Shafiq kneels down and swipes it across the line to mid-wicket. Actually, Shafiq set off for the single before sending Hamza back. Moeen Ali collected the ball and threw it to Jordan, who fumbled first but kept his calm and broke the stumps. Both batsmen were in the middle of the pitch. Amir Hamza run out (Moeen Ali/Jordan) 1(2)

16.4 - Stokes to Shenwari, out Caught by Root!! That should be the final nail in the coffin. Shenwari was their last hope. Banged in halfway down, Shenwari moves to leg to free up the off-side, attempts a flat-bat over mid-off, gets it right off the bottom and extra cover tracks back to take it. Shenwari c Root b Stokes 22(27) [4s-1]

15.4 - Jordan to Shenwari, out Najibullah Run Out!! Very unlucky there Najibullah. But brilliant bit of work from Jordan. Full on middle and leg, Shenwari ekes out an inside edge onto pad, the ball rolls to the right of the bowler, Shenwari first took off and was a tad late in sending back Najibullah, who was already halfway down. Jordan ran across, picked the ball and hit the bulls-eye at the bowler's end. Najibullah run out (Jordan) 14(10) [4s-1 6s-1]

12.5 - Adil Rashid to Nabi, out Caught by Jordan!! This is a huge wicket. Rashid should have had Nabi in the previous over itself. Nabi steps out to the tossed up delivery, gets very close to the ball and lofts it straight to long-on, Jordan moved in a couple of yards to pouch it. Relief for Buttler, who had put him down. Nabi c Jordan b Adil Rashid 12(10) [6s-1]

8.5 - Adil Rashid to Ali Zadran, out Caught&Bowled!! Ali Zadran is stunned. He is reluctant to go. Finally, starts the march back to the dugout. Another one that didn't come on, Ali Zadran was through his shot, the ball popped up and went low to Rashid, who made no mistake. Zadran was looking to push it on the up, but the ball just didn't arrive. Half the side back in the pavilion and England on top. Ali Zadran c and b Adil Rashid 17(19)

7.5 - Moeen Ali to Rashid Khan, out Caught by Eoin Morgan!! Moeen Ali strikes in his first over. It was a nice shot, but unfortunately picked out the fielder. Shimmies down to go inside out, does everything right except keeping the drive down the ground, hits it to the left of extra cover, a slight leap from Morgan and he holds on. Rashid Khan c Eoin Morgan b Moeen Ali 15(20) [4s-1 6s-1]

3.0 - Willey to Naib, out Caught by Stokes!! Afghanistan are blowing this away. A string of four dots is enough to unnerve Naib into a rash stroke. Tries to flat-bat a short of length delivery over the off-side, but it hurries onto him. Gets it high on the bat and spoons it up to extra-cover. Naib c Stokes b Willey 0(5)

2.0 - Jordan to Stanikzai, out Caught by Root!! Hits the deck hard at a decent pace, 144ks, gets extra bounce from a short of length and catches the outside edge as Stanikzai pokes away from the body. Straight to first slip at chest height. England have two and both the in-form men are gone. Stanikzai c Root b Jordan 1(4)

0.3 - Willey to Mohammad Shahzad, out Lbw!! Huge appeal, and the finger has gone up from Rod Tucker. Big moment. Yes, it's just one wicket, but it's Afghanistan's heart. He's their pride right at the top of the order. And it's been slain. Big banana inswing from Willey, Shahzad sees the fullish length and wants to slog but is beaten on the inside edge and hit on the back thigh. Tucker thinks for a while and then gives him the marching orders. HawkEye shows it clipping leg. Shahzad is in pain. Both mentally and physically as he rubs his thigh and trudges off while watching Willey bellow in glee. Mohammad Shahzad lbw b Willey 4(3) [4s-1]

10.5 - Adil Rashid to Nabi, no run, dropped! That was the googly and Nabi didn't pick it. He was attempting the steer down to third man, gets a thick outside edge to Buttler, who tries to grab the ball and ends up shelling it. Costly drop that...
