27.4 - Zampa to Henry Nicholls, FOUR, finally, Nicholls pings the deep backward square fence. He has been trying to pierce that gap from the last couple of overs, this time kneels down and sweeps it to the left of Marsh, no chance for the fielder in the deep

18.5 - Boland to Guptill, FOUR, how will was that timed? Bailey had a few yards to cover and still couldn't get there. It was not a bad delivery by any means, back of a length close to off, Guptill goes on his toes and punches it on the up through extra cover, Bailey runs across from sweeper, dives in vain

11.5 - Mitchell Marsh to Guptill, leg byes, FOUR, wrong lines. Drifts on the hips, and even though Guptill misses with his glance, it runs away fine off the thigh pad

10.3 - Hastings to Williamson, FOUR, gets it away this time. A bit more room on offer, allows Williamson to extend his arms. Does well to roll his wrists on the ball and slash it behind backward point

8.5 - Hazlewood to Guptill, FOUR, Guptill's starting to get hold of these pull shots now. Banged in on a short of length, rises till around chest height but it's not enough to trouble the tall frame of Guptill. Slaps it behind square

7.1 - Boland to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, he's looking a determined fellow. Not at all playing like a slogger today. Much prepared to take his time and maintain his balance. Low full toss just outside off, McCullum capitalizes on Boland's benevolence by unleashing a gorgeous cover drive

7.0 - Hazlewood to Guptill, FOUR, he's got it away this time. After missing out on two previous pull strokes, Guptill swats this one away behind square. Sped off the willow

4.4 - Hazlewood to Guptill, FOUR, just trying to be a bit too premeditated. Backs away and flashes at a ball on off, the length is not short enough, and there isn't enough room either, ends up chopping it off the inside edge and the ball runs away wide of leg-stump into the fine leg boundary

2.4 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, this is actually well bowled from Hazlewood. Saw McCullum making some room and cramped him with a short of length delivery which nipped back in slightly. McCullum still tries to go through with the cut but has no room to play with. Ends up top edging it over the head of first slip

2.0 - Hastings to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, driven through the covers! More of an orthodox stroke this. Hastings aims for another yorker just outside off, ends up overcooking it ever so slightly to dish out a low full toss. Baz just extends his arms and finds the gap past a diving cover

1.3 - Hastings to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, wow, just sit back and treasure every moment of this. The iconic charge down the wicket, and heaves it through mid-wicket. Couldn't quite get hold of the slog and ended up dragging it off the inside half of the bat, but it raced away after clearing the infield

1.2 - Hastings to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, there he goes. It took all of four balls to open his arms. A hint of swing back in but the length was very full, McCullum just slaps it over the bowler's head

42.0 - Mitchell Marsh to Elliott, SIX, that's how you embarrass something. Average length ball, Elliott stays put, swung his arms and thumped it over long-off. Dispatched with disdain to get to his half-century. Had made up for Anderson's struggles all this while and is now getting a chance to free up

32.3 - Boland to Corey Anderson, SIX, wow! Where did that come from? How powerful is Anderson? It just looked like a chip, but it cleared the rope with ease. Fuller and around off, Anderson extends his arms and lofts it over long-off

13.5 - Zampa to Guptill, SIX, don't bother looking at that, Zampa! Just turn around to your delivery mark. Else you'll find the long-hop being swatted over deep mid-wicket. Enough time for Guptill to rock back and pump his arms

8.0 - Boland to Brendon McCullum, SIX, 200 ODI sixes for Brendon McCullum! Shimmies down the track while moving across the stumps, manages to convert it into a half-volley while getting right behind the line and whips it over square leg. Furious wrists. And now Baz is cooking

7.3 - Boland to Brendon McCullum, SIX, here he comes, here he comes! Dances down while making some room and hoists a length ball just over the wide long-off fence. The aim was to go much straighter but the bat-face turned slightly on impact. Enough though

6.5 - Hazlewood to Guptill, SIX, ho, that's gone for six. Has to do with these short boundaries I guess. Just a mere pick-up over the on-side. Fullish on off, Guptill flogs it with a whiplash of the wrists over wide long-on

6.0 - Boland to Brendon McCullum, SIX, oh, sweet! Pitched up in his half and McCullum goes bang. Clears his front leg so that it doesn't hinder his batswing and pumps it over long-off. Lands in those grass banks well beyond the ropes

3.4 - Hastings to Guptill, SIX, he's launched that over long-off! Pitched up outside off, and Guptill lays into it. Plonks his front foot forward and swings it through the line

45.3 - Hastings to Ish Sodhi, out Bowled!! This double blow seals the innings for New Zeland. A 246-all out effort. Slow ball strikes again. This time on a yorker length, Sodhi stoops to dig it out, does well to stop the ball with an angled bat only to see the ball dribble back and carress the stumps' base to flick the bail off. 45.2 - Hastings to Doug Bracewell, out Bowled!! That's how you welcome your guests. Open the door, the bat-pad gap here, to let it through you. 44.3 - Boland to Milne, out Lbw!! All the reverse swing has left this umpiring business on bit of a shaky ground. Tailing in full delivery, Milne aims to flick it into the leg-side and misses. Ball takes the front boot and definitely looked like going down leg. Milne has a mini-discussion before unfastening his gloves while walking off. 43.2 - Mitchell Marsh to Elliott, out Caught by Maxwell!! And Marsh is on a hat-trick. Are they going all-attack a little too early? Or have they left their luck back in the dressing room? Fullish delivery outside off, Elliott stoops with a big front foot stride, fetches this ball with an intended uppish swipe and finds Maxwell at deep square leg. 43.1 - Mitchell Marsh to Ronchi, out Caught by Boland!! This was a pie-catch. For Boland at long-on. Length ball, Ronchi all excited swings across the line, hardly gets a wood on this as the bat turns in his hands and finds a half-squatted Boland waiting reverse-cupped. 40.3 - Hazlewood to Corey Anderson, out Caught by Khawaja!! That was like a daily soap's Friday mini-break only to resume on Monday with much disappointment. Looked like a clobber that had been middled but was hit straight down the throat of Khwaja at long-on. Pouched safely just inside the ropes. Anderson's struggle gets a lid now. 28.4 - Hazlewood to Henry Nicholls, out Caught by Smith!! That's why he had the slip. Smith seems angry for some reason. Throws the balll away and after taking the catch. Nicholls charges down, aiming to drive it through the off-side, the angle from over the wicket takes the outside edge and flies to the wide slip, Smith takes it over his head. Australia keep pegging away at the wickets whenever there is a partnership building. Henry Nicholls c Smith b Hazlewood 18(29) [4s-1]

19.5 - Zampa to Guptill, out Caught by Hastings!! Australia are taking control of the game. The set batsman has been sent back. Zampa has his first wicket and is delighted. Floated up on leg-stump, Guptill kneels down to sweep, rolls the bat face tad early and the ball balloons off the top-edge, Hastings at short fine, tracks back and reverse cups it. 18.2 - Boland to Williamson, out Bowled!! Dragged on! Huge wicket for Australia. Boland comes back strongly after taking a pasting in his first spell. The length was short alright, but it was too close to the body for Williamson to be attempting the dab down to third man, can't get on top of it and the inside edge deflects onto the stumps. 9.3 - Mitchell Marsh to Brendon McCullum, out Caught by Hastings!! In the air, it's gone many a mile .. and it's over. That's the last of Brendon McCullum in ODI cricket. A giant of this format is walking back to a standing ovation and he gives them a nice wave while sauntering away into the sunset. Came down the track to slog, but didn't get on top of the bounce and sliced it off a thick outside edge. The ball skied up, swirled and swirled, and never looked like coming down. There is confusion between Hastings and Maxwell, the former calls for it. Moves to his left and ends up having to dive with both hands. Plucks it safely to break a lot of hearts. Actually on a second glance, it looks like Hastings ran a long way from mid-on, and ended up taking it at mid-off. Should have been Maxwell's catch but for some strange reason he backed off. 32.4 - Boland to Corey Anderson, no run, dropped! That was a regulation catch. Pitched up just outside off, Anderson drives off the base of the bat to cover, went low to Khawaja at cover, he bend down and spilled it

42.1 - Hazlewood to Ronchi, no run, loud, loud appeal for an LBW and Australia went up for the review. This yorker curled in to hit the boot on the full and HawkEye showed that the impact was just outside off. Technology, oh technology! And Smith was furious after that. Furious. That's the word

16.2 - Boland to Guptill, 2 runs, shortish outside off, Guptill chops it hard into the turf and gets it to bounce over a leaping extra-cover who only manages fingertips, hustles back for a couple to raise a well composed half-century

42.0 - Milne to Hazlewood, FOUR, no slip! Why? Karma. Remove the slip and you're doomed. Goes at this drive with hard hands, nowhere behind it, edges it behind and it runs uppishly through where a slip would have been

37.0 - Ish Sodhi to Wade, FOUR, dragged down horribly and Wade slams the mediocrity on it with a pull. Not all that timed but it vrooms to the deep mid-wicket fence

29.3 - Matt Henry to Mitchell Marsh, FOUR, how strong is he? That was by no means on a driving length, but it was for Marsh, moves forward and muscles the drive on the up, sweeper was just there to fetch the ball from the fence

27.0 - Corey Anderson to Bailey, FOUR, bad delivery and Bailey makes him pay. On the hips, Bailey gets inside the line, uses the pace of Anderson and tickles it fine, the ball raced away beating the man at fine leg

25.4 - Elliott to Mitchell Marsh, FOUR, fullish and just outside off, Marsh drives it towards deep extra cover, Nicholls does all the hard work of getting to the ball, but just when he was flicking it in, his back foot was touching the rope

25.3 - Elliott to Mitchell Marsh, FOUR, top shot! There was no pace to work with, but Marsh generated all the power on the punch, he placed it to perfection as well, between extra cover and mid-off. The ball raced away to the fence

22.1 - Ish Sodhi to Mitchell Marsh, FOUR, smashed! Marsh saw the flight on this one and his eyes lit up, went full-throttle on the drive and muscled it through extra cover, sweeper could just see it crashing into the fence

20.1 - Ish Sodhi to Bailey, FOUR, floated up invitingly outside off, Bailey drills it in the air just wide of a diving short cover, Baz flew to his left, but the ball just evaded him, sweeper had no chance of stopping that either

17.2 - Doug Bracewell to Bailey, FOUR, he's given that a nice whip. Half-volley on middle and leg, Bailey jerks his wrists and ain't afraid to hit it in the air wide of mid-on

10.4 - Matt Henry to Khawaja, FOUR, just grunts a loud "no" in anguish and turns back rather than watching a gutter ball being whipped away fine. That's what I would do too

8.3 - Matt Henry to Smith, FOUR, finds the edge with a back of a length delivery which stays a touch low outside off, Smith put on the hunch to counter for it while punching, skims it off a thick outside edge wide of slip

8.0 - Milne to Khawaja, FOUR, no movement of the front foot but the batswing is so pleasing. Actually he cleared the front leg so that it doesn't impede his bat coming down and creamed it straight of mid-off

3.5 - Milne to Warner, FOUR, can't do that with fine leg up. Falls away down the leg-side with this round the wicket angle. All Warner has to do is roll his wrists and glance it wide of short fine leg

3.4 - Milne to Warner, FOUR, carved over backward point. Gave the charge while backing away, actually his footwork took him out of reach almost of the length ball. Swings hard and manages to slice it off the bottom of the bat. So much wood everywhere. Easily clears the infield

2.5 - Matt Henry to Khawaja, FOUR, oh my! Beware New Zealand. This bloke is starting to find his feet. What a blazing drive, jeez. Perfectly on a good length outside off, Khawaja simply leans across after moving inches forward and allows his arms to extend with a whip of the wrists

2.2 - Matt Henry to Warner, FOUR, whips the pull behind square. Not enough purpose behind this short of length delivery, Warner hops across on one foot to pick it from around off stump and then rolls his wrists on the ball to hit the gap

0.4 - Matt Henry to Khawaja, FOUR, now lays into one. A semblance of a stride across to a wide full ball, unleashes a drive square of the wicket managing to split the off-side ring

29.2 - Matt Henry to Mitchell Marsh, SIX, that has been bullied. Out of the park. Marsh has a golf swing at this back of a length delivery, sends it soaring over the cow corner fence. Stood there and admired the shot

7.5 - Milne to Khawaja, SIX, excellent short ball which goes soaring over fine leg off a thick top edge. Moral win for the bowler but unfortunately there is no place for it on the scorebook. Got it to rise steeply over Khawaja's left shoulder and rushed him into the hook. He swishes hard and collects six

4.1 - Matt Henry to Khawaja, SIX, brilliant catch from Williamson running backwards from mid-off. Kept his eyes on the ball right through after Khawaja mistimed his loft off the toe-end. The direction of his head and the body were in constant conflict but he overcame the odds and plucked it superbly. Only that he ends up crossing the boundary ropes in the process. So desperately unlucky. Seddon Park's diminutive size comes to Khawaja's rescue

43.4 - Milne to Boland, out Boland Run Out!! Here it is. Thousands of people and the eleven on the field celebrate McCullum's farewell as a direct hit has found Boland short at the bowler's end. Slower delivery dragged down, Boland chopped it to backward point and tried to sneak in a single. Took on Nicholls who overwhelms with his spearing throw and finds Boland short. McCullum lets out a roar, runs in with his finger pointing to the heavens and forms the seed for that celebratory huddle. New Zealand retain the Chappell-Hadlee trophy with a 2-1 win. 40.5 - Corey Anderson to Zampa, out Caught by Brendon McCullum!! It pays to invest in your LIC premiums, it pays to study before your end terms and it pays to have a slip. Only McCullum. He was befuddled all this over and threw his bat at this length delivery and edged it behind. McCullum pulled off another beauty, as if the brainchild of having the slip wasn't enough. Dives in front of him and pouches this dying ball in front of him at first slip. Oh McCullum! Why McCullum? Zampa c Brendon McCullum b Corey Anderson 2(11)

40.0 - Milne to Wade, out Caught by Guptill!! Straight to Guptill at mid-wicket! Oh my. Talk about placing it well. Slower bouncer it was, Wade swiveled to pull but couldn't time it as the ball hugged the pitch and ballooned up slowly. Guptill just had to pull out a mini-shuffle and stooped to his left to consume Wade. Wade c Guptill b Milne 17(26) [4s-1]

38.1 - Corey Anderson to Hastings, out Caught by Elliott!! This wicket is as much Milne's as it's Anderson's. Only if the scorecards were more than just being a meter wide and an inch deep. Short ball outside off, Hastings fetches it with a swiveling pull, gets it high on the bat with his confidence shattered in the previous over by Milne. Gets it high on the bat and Elliott squats at deep mid-wicket to snaffle this. Hastings c Elliott b Corey Anderson 6(19)

33.4 - Matt Henry to Mitchell Marsh, out Caught&Bowled!! Marsh is not a happy man. Lets McCullum know about his feelings. It was a very late appeal from the Black Caps. Maybe they saw it on the giantscreen and then went up. That is what is frustrating the Aussies. It was a yorker length delivery around off, Marsh jams it off the toe-end onto the boot, the ball carries to Henry, who collects it and appeals gently. Ian Gould sends it upstairs and after a number of replays, TV umpire Ravi gives the marching orders for Marsh. Might be the turning point in the game. 29.5 - Matt Henry to Bailey, out Bowled!! This match ain't over folks. Just when the partnership had started to dominate, Henry sends back Bailey. It was a harmless length delivery around off, Bailey takes a step out and attempted the steer down to third man, the inside edge hits the top of off-stump. Bailey lets out a roar in disappointment. 19.0 - Ish Sodhi to Maxwell, out Caught by Brendon McCullum!! New Zealand are back! Look at Sodhi go. He is jumping, fist-pumping as his mates surround him. Brilliant bit of captaincy by McCullum to position himself at slip. Sodhi throws this up outside off, the leggie was turning away, Maxwell opens the bat face to ease it square on the off-side, the outside edge is gulped down by Baz at slip. 18.4 - Ish Sodhi to Smith, out Lbw!! That was a poor judgement from Smith, more so by Bailey. It was the straight roller that pitched on middle and just went gun-barrell straight, Smith kneels down to sweep, fails to get any part of the wood and is struck right in front of middle. That is as plumb as you can get. Umpire raised the finger and Smith wasn't going. He had a discussion with Bailey and challenged the decision. Smith lbw b Ish Sodhi 21(35) [4s-1]

11.2 - Doug Bracewell to Khawaja, out Caught by Ronchi!! His exuberance gets the better of him. So often happens to players with plenty of shots in their quiver, just can't refrain from exhibiting them. This time Khawaja is tempted into driving a ball which cannot be termed "full" by any means. As a result, he can't get on top of the bounce of it while playing away from the body. Ends up nicking it to Ronchi's left who moves across smartly and pouches. 5.0 - Matt Henry to Warner, out Caught by Elliott!! He's chipped one straight to cover. What was Warner trying to do there? Such a half-hearted shot. Banged in on a short of length just outside off, might have held up on him slightly as he tried to punch it away. Slices it off the outside half of the bat and Elliott has an easy offering.
