49.4 - Murtagh to Kusal Mendis, FOUR, off the edge this time. Flashed at it, gets an outside edge and the ball runs wide of the keeper and behind to fetch him a four..

47.0 - Kevin O'Brien to Maharoof, FOUR, oh.. it's another pull shot. Short, because Ireland don't want them to drive. So Maharoof pulls.. through mid-wicket for a boundary to take the score well past realms of reality

46.2 - Kevin O'Brien to Maharoof, FOUR, that's a deriding pull. Flat-bats a short ball wide of O'Brien to get a boundary

45.3 - Rankin to Maharoof, FOUR, flashes and flashes hard, as Shastri would have said. Gets a top-edge that runs over the keeper's head for a boundary

43.3 - Barry McCarthy to Mathews, FOUR, lovely. Just dragged down on the stumps, Mathews half-turns and whips it up and over square leg

41.2 - Murtagh to K Perera, FOUR, an inside edge as Perera plays a touch away from the body, the ball scoots past the stumps and away..

40.4 - Andy McBrine to K Perera, FOUR, swivels around, takes on the short ball - like he has all day - and shames it to the deep square leg fence

39.4 - Barry McCarthy to K Perera, FOUR, and now pulls it wide of mid-wicket. He gets to his highest score in ODIs with this boundary

39.3 - Barry McCarthy to K Perera, FOUR, just a little short an guess what, Perera had enough time to time the pull wide of long-on. Yes, that much time. Almost flat-bats it with disdain

38.4 - Andy McBrine to K Perera, FOUR, the run hosepipe doesn't have a lever. Short ball again, and Perera could get back and pull it around square leg

37.4 - Kevin O'Brien to S Prasanna, FOUR, oh my. Switches to round the wicket but ends up dishing out a full toss that is hammered over his head disdainfully

37.2 - Kevin O'Brien to S Prasanna, FOUR, shortish delivery and cut powerfully through backward point for another boundary. He is playing an absolute blinder out here

36.1 - Rankin to K Perera, FOUR, 100-run stand. Perera celebrates it with a pull over square leg. So, so apt this. Short ball's been the lamb all day

35.2 - Murtagh to S Prasanna, FOUR, one bounce over the ropes! Full toss, can you believe? Hammered over the infield on the off-side rightly

33.4 - Murtagh to K Perera, FOUR, why are they bowling short, do Ireland? This isn't the pitch and they don't have pace, perhaps. Pulled between deep square leg and deep mid-wicket

33.0 - Kevin O'Brien to K Perera, FOUR, this pull shot defies the square leg fielder as Perera placed it wide enough to earn a boundary. He's in the mood, isn't he?

32.3 - Kevin O'Brien to S Prasanna, FOUR, and this is the shot of the day. The length was fuller, understandably, and Prasanna shows the full face of the bat to drive it past O'Brien. Lovely strike that

31.3 - Barry McCarthy to S Prasanna, FOUR, short ball continues.. to be hammered. Pulled over square leg this time for another boundary

23.0 - Rankin to Gunathilaka, FOUR, comes round the wicket to deny Gunathilaka the room, but he lofts this pitched up delivery over the head of mid-off

22.1 - Rankin to Gunathilaka, FOUR, short and wide outside off, asking for the treatment. Gunathilaka rocks back and slaps it hard though the point region to add another boundary to his tally

20.4 - Rankin to Gunathilaka, FOUR, and the misery for Rankin continues. After getting one to sneak past the outside edge, he bangs this one short. Gunathilaka pulls and is slow to get to it and ends up getting the top-edge that flies well over the keeper's head for another boundary. Not a day for the Irish bowlers

18.3 - Kevin O'Brien to K Perera, FOUR, short once again and Perera is batting like a dream at the moment. Spots this length quickly and pulls it past the short leg fielder

17.5 - Andy McBrine to Gunathilaka, FOUR, a touch short and Gunathilaka is quick enough to spot it. Rocks back into the crease and cut it hard through the covers all along the carpet

16.3 - Kevin O'Brien to K Perera, FOUR, short and pulled with all his might to the mid-wicket fence past the diving fielder. Top shot

11.2 - Barry McCarthy to K Perera, FOUR, once again Perera's stars come to his rescue in this innings. Gets an inside edge as he looks to drive this delivery and it sneaks past the stumps and goes to the fence. Spare a thought for Barry McCarthy

11.0 - Murtagh to Gunathilaka, FOUR, exquisite timing on display. Stands up tall and drives it powerfully wide of mid-off and Joyce isn't quick enough to pull the ball back

7.3 - Rankin to K Perera, FOUR, another slice of luck here for Perera. He is certainly living a charmed life out here in the middle as he gets another edge, off the inner half of the bat this time, and the ball flies to the right of Wilson

7.2 - Rankin to K Perera, FOUR, another streaky shot, Rankin digs in the effort ball and Perera isn't quick enough to get upto the delivery and ends up getting the top-edge that flies over the keeper's head for another boundary

6.3 - Murtagh to Gunathilaka, FOUR, first boundary for Gunathilaka. Stands up tall and drives the ball in the air through the vacant extra cover region

4.0 - Rankin to K Perera, FOUR, and the third in the over. Rankin gifts him another half volley and Perera obliges him driving it past Anderson through the covers

3.5 - Rankin to K Perera, FOUR, top shot this. Driven firmly past the bowler and races to the long-off fence

3.2 - Rankin to K Perera, FOUR, and finally the first boundary of the morning. Seems quite long given that Perera is at the crease. Rankin drifts onto the pads and Perera whips it through mid-wicket all the way to the fence

46.5 - Kevin O'Brien to Maharoof, SIX, this is beautifully played. Shortish ball, Maharoof stands in attention and then arches back to thrust in power into this back foot punch. Enough power to time it well over long-off!

44.4 - Stirling to Mathews, SIX, wow. Just a mere lift over the bowler's head and it's so well timed that it goes all the way. All the way, yes!

36.4 - Rankin to S Prasanna, SIX, a full toss. Period. On this pitch, against set batsmen, Rankin's pace is a boon, especially when the pitch is out of the equation. Swung over square leg again

35.5 - Murtagh to S Prasanna, SIX, clubbed! Gets it in the slot. On a length to give him the working depth and uses his straightened elbows to power this shot over long-on

34.3 - Rankin to S Prasanna, SIX, this is mayhem now. Picks a length ball with a swivel and hammers it over square leg for a boundary

33.2 - Murtagh to S Prasanna, SIX, that's cleared the ropes by a bigggg margin. Pull it is. Yes, you are right. Turns around in sync with the venom on this short ball and massacres it round the corner

32.2 - Kevin O'Brien to S Prasanna, SIX, pulled sixes are in fashion. Another short ball and this pitch's a pace robber. The short ball sits up nicely for Prasanna to spank it away over deep square leg

31.1 - Barry McCarthy to S Prasanna, SIX, another six! He's dealing in a currency that isn't GBP. Bumper but not too pacy, Prasanna got his bat high and hooked the ball over deep mid-wicket!

30.1 - Kevin O'Brien to S Prasanna, SIX, oh! That's a short ball murdered with a pull.. a swivelling pull over deep square leg! Lovely hit

28.3 - Andy McBrine to S Prasanna, SIX, that's pummeled over long-on! Uses the long handle and swings it away

26.5 - Andy McBrine to S Prasanna, SIX, wow. Biffs it with a flat bat over long-off to get off the mark. And the ball's lost!!

24.1 - Andy McBrine to K Perera, SIX, comes down the ground and gets to the pitch of the delivery to loft it over the long-on fence for another six. Top shot

19.0 - Kevin O'Brien to K Perera, SIX, tonked away over the long-on fence. Fullish delivery outside off and Perera rocks back to loft it with all his muscle might to bring up the ton-run partnership between these two

10.2 - Murtagh to Gunathilaka, SIX, pitched up and in the slot to be smacked. Gunathilaka stands tall and swings through the line to deposit this one well past the long-on fence to bring up the first six of the day's play

49.5 - Murtagh to Kusal Mendis, out Caught by Barry McCarthy!! Lack of pace dumps him. Went hard and early into this loft over extra cover, tries to adjust late with soft hands but ends up popping it to the fielder. Kusal Mendis c Barry McCarthy b Murtagh 8(7) [4s-1]

48.3 - Barry McCarthy to Chandimal, out Caught by Wilson!! McCarthy is on a hat-trick! Mistimes the ball as he tries to go cross-batted, pops it up towards square leg and the keeper runs in an angle to pouch it with a dive. Top effort. Chandimal c Wilson b Barry McCarthy 3(4)

48.2 - Barry McCarthy to Maharoof, out Caught by Andy McBrine!! He will go at it, specially when it's on the pads. Flicks it uppishly and deliberately but slots it straight to deep square leg. Maharoof c Andy McBrine b Barry McCarthy 29(16) [4s-3 6s-1]

47.2 - Rankin to Mathews, out Caught by Wilson!! On a length and wide of off, Mathews is drawn across, is late and fails to get behind the line of this delivery that he feathers back to the keeper. Mathews c Wilson b Rankin 24(18) [4s-1 6s-1]

42.2 - Andy McBrine to Dasun Shanaka, out Caught by Murtagh!! And another. Another speed break. Looks to swing this ball over deep square leg, doesn't quite get the power into the shot and holes out on this occasion. Dasun Shanaka c Murtagh b Andy McBrine 1(2)

42.0 - Murtagh to K Perera, out Caught by Stirling!! One gets too, especially when you have just sneaked through a mountain stand. Perera isn't punctual in connecting the shot. Attempts to club this shortish delivery but does so right into the hands of deep square leg. K Perera c Stirling b Murtagh 135(128) [4s-16 6s-2]

41.4 - Murtagh to S Prasanna, out Bowled!! Oh no! He's missed a ton. Such a shame. Was going hammer and tongs all innings and departs just 5 runs short of his ton. To be fair, he did look overcautious in his nineties that may as well have brought about his downfall. He had to stick to his crease to this full delivery that he plays all around. Misses and is bowled. S Prasanna b Murtagh 95(46) [4s-5 6s-9]

26.2 - Andy McBrine to Gunathilaka, out Gunathilaka Run Out!! And he has sold himself down the river. Taps it to backward point and runs, the fielder has a shy at the bowler's end and hits the bull's eye. Gunathilaka run out (Andy McBrine) 63(78) [4s-6 6s-1]

40.3 - Andy McBrine to S Prasanna, 1 run, ends up tapping the ball over mid-wicket with whipped wrists but dodn't look much in control. More like a chipped shot to make up for the lack of pace. Ireland looked hopeful until this landed in from of deep mid-wicket

34.2 - Rankin to K Perera, 1 run, oh! He pushed one through the covers, gets on 99 and then wants to get to the ton. But aborts the idea and decides to persevere

33.3 - Murtagh to S Prasanna, 1 run, there's the fifty. Celebrates it after tapping a ball to cover and running.. rather haring a single

22.2 - Rankin to Gunathilaka, no ball, 1 run, guides it with an open face of the bat towards third-man to bring up his half-century. Well played Gunathilaka. And to make matters worse, Rankin has overstepped as well. Free-hit coming up

16.4 - Kevin O'Brien to K Perera, 2 runs, and that brings up Perera's half century. It has been a good positive innings sprinkled with a tad of luck. Clips this delivery that was angling in towards swuare leg for a couple

44.3 - Mathews to Andy McBrine, FOUR, it's getting better! Absolutely comes on the front foot and then forehands it wide of mid-off! Bring it on. Almost like a more intentful Tennis smash

42.1 - Lakmal to Andy McBrine, FOUR, push-driven along the carpet and it goes all the way.. Another good shot

39.3 - Maharoof to Rankin, FOUR, this is a good, good shot. Runs down the pitch, Maharoof responds by shortening the length but Rankin is all up for it. Pulled it off the front foot through mid-wicket

37.3 - Maharoof to Andy McBrine, FOUR, and now the straight drive! Presents the full face as Maharoof gets closer to the stumps on a fuller length

37.2 - Maharoof to Andy McBrine, FOUR, and now he celebrates the lifeline with a drive through covers. On the front foot and blazed away

36.1 - Gunathilaka to Andy McBrine, FOUR, drinks breaks are supposed to bring wickets but here's a boundary to defy all that. Lovely punch through long-off as McBrine looks set to entertain

33.5 - Dasun Shanaka to Stuart Poynter, FOUR, another pull. Sri Lanka getting back what they made merry with. A pull shot round the corner as this short ball is too nice to not be pulled

33.3 - Dasun Shanaka to Andy McBrine, FOUR, a shorer length this time, McBrine stands taller and just biffs it comfortably over mid-on

33.1 - Dasun Shanaka to Stuart Poynter, FOUR, pitched up and this has been hammered. Past Shanaka. For a boundary

26.5 - Gunathilaka to Andy McBrine, FOUR, lovely use of the feet. USes his skates, takes the delivery on the full and hammers it past Gunathilaka

22.4 - Gunathilaka to Wilson, FOUR, reverse-sweeps it over the head of short-leg and it races away to the fence. Some innovation gere from Wilson in the last three deliveries

16.3 - S Prasanna to John Anderson, FOUR, gets on one knee and plays the premeditated reverse-sweep past the man at short third-man for a boundary. Well executed

15.5 - Dasun Shanaka to John Anderson, FOUR, very staright from Shanaka and John Anderson takes full advantage of it and flicks it hard through mid-wicket. No stopping this one

14.5 - S Prasanna to John Anderson, FOUR, pulls back the length a touch and John Anderson flays it through extra cover en route to the fence. Timed to perfection

14.4 - S Prasanna to John Anderson, FOUR, brings out the reverse-sweep from his armoury, fetches it from well outside off and sweeps it past the short third-man for a boundary

12.3 - Mathews to John Anderson, FOUR, back-to-back boundaries for John Anderson, and the Irish really need this kick to get close to the Lankan mark. Mathews digs it in short and John Anderson jumps on the width to cut it through the covers

12.2 - Mathews to John Anderson, FOUR, lofts this one uppishly over the man at extra cover who dives full length. Doesn't get to it

11.2 - Maharoof to Kevin O'Brien, FOUR, and almost another wicket. Kevin O'Brien looks to tuck this one off his pads down the leg side and ends up playing it a tad too fine, just past a diving Chandimal's glove

7.3 - Maharoof to Stirling, FOUR, and he finally gets it though the point region. It was something he was looking for throughout the previous over. Drives it well over the head of point to the fence

6.5 - Lakmal to Ed Joyce, FOUR, and he is dished out a half volley well outside off, Ed Joyce leans on one knee and drives it through extra cover. Not a bad way to get off the mark

3.4 - Maharoof to Stirling, FOUR, that's serenely done! Stirling gets on one knee and drives it all along the carpet to extra cover to pick up a boundary

2.0 - Mathews to Porterfield, FOUR, short and wide and Porterfield capitalizes big time. Cut strongly through backward point to bring up the first boundary of the Irish innings

44.4 - Mathews to Andy McBrine, SIX, records are now starting to hose out of The Village in Dublin. A fifty-run stand now. And what a way to bring it up: gets high in his crease and knocks a rising ball with a pull shot over deep square leg

42.0 - Gunathilaka to Rankin, SIX, wow. That's huge. Gets a length ball and Rankin uses all his might to absolutely smash it over long-on! This is a nice, little phase of cricket

40.3 - Lakmal to Andy McBrine, SIX, maiden fifty for McBrine! There's a silver lining in this impending defeat after all. Gets a short ball and pulls it all the way over the square leg fence

3.3 - Maharoof to Stirling, SIX, stand and deliver!, Stirling stays in the crease and lofts this fuller length delivery on the up over the bowler's head. Almost a check-drive but it carries all the way to the fence

45.0 - Mathews to Andy McBrine, out Caught by Kusal Mendis!! Ah, finally. This must have seemed neverending for Sri Lanka! And it all ends with a mistimed pull - high in the air as deep square leg runs in to snaffle this. Sri Lanka win the series 2-0 but Ireland don't surrender sans a fight. Lovely game of cricket that didn't look potential fun at the halfway mark but eventually was. Andy McBrine c Kusal Mendis b Mathews 79(64) [4s-7 6s-2]

38.4 - Lakmal to Murtagh, out Caught by Mathews!! One wicket to go for Sri Lanka. Is late into this pull, meaning Murtagh has flat-batted this to the left of mid-on.. but Mathews there had other plans. Dives to his left and collects it brilliantly. Murtagh c Mathews b Lakmal 0(4)

37.0 - Gunathilaka to Barry McCarthy, out Bowled!! Oh no, he perishes. Sri Lanka and drinks break strike. Completely beaten in the flight here. Uses his feet as he came down the track, shoots past this quicker delivery that hits timber. Barry McCarthy b Gunathilaka 5(7)

34.2 - Lakmal to Stuart Poynter, out Caught by Gunathilaka!! Short and wide outside off - filth off the cricket pavement - and Poynter has managed to top-edge it to third man. Stuart Poynter c Gunathilaka b Lakmal 36(50) [4s-2]

25.1 - S Prasanna to Wilson, out Bowled!! Oh, done for spin. Wilson is tentative to come forward, the ball turns enough to ensure that the batsman is not behind the line, swishes past the outside edge and takes the stumps on. Wilson b S Prasanna 11(14) [4s-1]

21.2 - S Prasanna to John Anderson, out Caught by Kusal Mendis!! Looks for the wild slog and perishes. John Anderson wanted to deposit this into the mid-wicket fence but ends up mistiming it and Mendis does well to run across and take a smart catch. End of Ireland's hopes? John Anderson c Kusal Mendis b S Prasanna 34(45) [4s-6]

15.1 - Dasun Shanaka to Kevin O'Brien, out Caught by Maharoof!! Unnecessary from Kevin O'Brien, an absolute waste of a start. Just when it looked that Kevin O'Brien would anchor this innings, he throws it away by coming down the track and looking to slap this good length delivery over the man at mid-on. Ends up timing it straight into his hands Kevin O'Brien c Maharoof b Dasun Shanaka 12(9) [4s-1]

11.1 - Maharoof to Ed Joyce, out Caught by Gunathilaka!! Maharoof has captured the big fish. Bowls it on a good length outside off and Ed Joyce opens the face of the bat and looks to guide it to third-man, ends up chopping it straight to the man at point. Ed Joyce c Gunathilaka b Maharoof 9(17) [4s-1]

8.4 - Lakmal to Stirling, out Caught by Chandimal!! And he perishes to the cut shot on this occasion. Like he has been trying over the last couple of overs, Stirling looks to cut this shorter delivery and is beaten by the extra bounce, gets an edge and Chandimal does the rest Stirling c Chandimal b Lakmal 22(24) [4s-2 6s-1]

6.1 - Lakmal to Porterfield, out Caught by Mathews!! And the captain perishes. The pressure of the required run-rate gets to him as he looks to slog this back of a length delivery, gets it straight down the throat of mid-offPorterfield c Mathews b Lakmal 8(18) [4s-1]
