112.3 - Kaushal to U Yadav, leg byes, FOUR, poor ball from Kaushal, drifts one onto Yadav's pads, he looks to flick and misses, the ball brushes the pads and races away to the fine leg boundary

108.3 - Kaushal to W Saha, FOUR, that was in the air and lobs over Mathews. Flighted just outside off, Saha goes for the reverse sweep, the top-edge goes over the slip fielder, Mathews anticipated it and moved to his left, but the ball eluded his leap

106.5 - Kaushal to W Saha, FOUR, great use of the feet from the Indian keeper, skips out of the crease, meets the pitch of the ball and drives through extra cover, there was protection in the deep, but he placed it beautifully

104.1 - Kaushal to Mishra, FOUR, that is a fabulous shot! Kaushal continues round the wicket to Mishra, fullish and on the stumps, Mishra reverse sweeps it behind point, the ball races across the turf. That came right off the meat. Mathews has a worried look on his face

97.1 - Dhammika to Mishra, FOUR, that's much better from Mishra, width on offer from Dhammika, Mishra stays in the crease and goes up and over cover-point. The ball slowed down near the ropes, Kaushal gives chase and hauls the ball back in. As he does so, the ball hit his boots with him sprawling on the ad cushions, that will be a boundary

94.0 - Mathews to Mishra, FOUR, edged and four, that's adding insult to injury, width on offer from Mathews, Mishra threw his bat at that, gets a thick edge that flies in the gap between slips and gully

92.2 - Dhammika to W Saha, FOUR, lovely shot, that should relax Saha a bit, a wide half-volley from Dhammika, Saha leans forward and caresses it through cover for a boundary, his first runs of the day

82.5 - Dhammika to Rohit, FOUR, nicely done! This was a short of length delivery outside off, Rohit waits on the back foot, opens the face of the bat and guides it in the gap between gully and backward point, who gives chase but the ball beats him to the fence

82.3 - Dhammika to Rohit, FOUR, length delivery outside off, Rohit comes forward and looks to push it into the off-side with an open face of the bat, gets a thickish outside edge and rolls away in the gap between gully and second slip, the fielder at gully dives to his left but fails to stop the ball

80.4 - Dhammika to Rohit, FOUR, front foot pull this time. Another shortish delivery outside off, Rohit pulls it through mid-wicket and it runs away to the fence in no time

75.3 - Herath to W Saha, FOUR, tossed up on middle and leg, Saha kneels down and sweeps it behind square on the leg-side, there's no protection in the deep and Saha collects another boundary

74.4 - Kaushal to W Saha, FOUR, flighted delivery outside off, Saha comes down the track and drives it to the left of mid-off, who had no chance of stopping that, runs away to the fence in a jiffy

73.5 - Herath to W Saha, FOUR, that's a good shot from Saha. He comes dancing down the track and sends it through to the long-on fence for a boundary

69.3 - Dhammika to Rohit, FOUR, that's a good strike from Rohit. Not all that short outside off but the ball sits up nicely for Rohit, who pulls it in front of square on the leg-side, races away to the fence in no time

67.4 - Dhammika to Rohit, byes, FOUR, wow! That is the first sign of reverse swing. It tailed in a long way, Rohit covered his sticks and let it go, it kept curling and Chandimal could just get a glove, he doesn't stop it and the ball races away

65.1 - Dhammika to Binny, leg byes, FOUR, Dhammika errs in line and leaks four runs. Strays onto the pads, Binny doesn't connect with the glance, the ball brushes the thigh pad and runs away to the fine leg fence

65.0 - Kaushal to Rohit, byes, FOUR, that is a poor delivery. Kaushal tosses it up on leg-stump and gets it to spin further down, Rohit can't meet with the flick, Chandimal doesn't glove it either. Bonus runs for India

55.0 - Kaushal to Rahul, FOUR, lovely shot! He keeps getting better as the innings progresses. Shimmies down, takes it on the full and drives it past the non-striker, mid-off was square and it raced away to the fence

51.4 - Herath to Rohit, FOUR, picks the gap this time through the covers, it was a tossed up delivery again outside off, Rohit was down in a flash, clears his front leg and drills his drive through the covers

49.3 - Herath to Rahul, FOUR, nails his sweep to perfection, it was tossed up nicely but a bit too full, Rahul goes down on one knee and powers his sweep off the middle in front of square, no one moved a muscle there

42.4 - Kaushal to Rahul, FOUR, lovely shot, flatter and quicker from Kaushal, Rahul waits on it and cuts it very late, beats the lone slip and races away to the fence in a hurry

40.2 - Kaushal to Kohli, FOUR, lovely shot, this one is given more air by Kaushal, ends up offering a half-volley, Kohli gets forward, closes the face of the bat, generates immense power and drills it between Rahul's legs, beats the fielder at mid-off as well

39.5 - Herath to Rahul, FOUR, that's nicely played by Rahul, the slog sweep, tossed up and well outside off, Rahul gets down on his knees and sweeps it in front of square on the on-side, no one in the deep and the ball races away to the fence

36.4 - Mathews to Rahul, FOUR, lovely shot, banged in short and well outside off, Mathews doesn't have the pace to trouble frontline batsmen, Rahul rocks back and pulls it over mid-wicket, a couple of bounces and over the ropes for a boundary

35.1 - Herath to Kohli, FOUR, cracking shot, overpitched and well outside off, Kohli gets a big stride forward, brings those powerful wrists into play and drills it past extra cover for a boundary

33.4 - Dushmantha Chameera to Kohli, FOUR, this has been a poor over so far from Chameera, too straight once again, ends up drifting onto Kohli's pads, whipped away in front of square on the on-side for a boundary

33.2 - Dushmantha Chameera to Kohli, FOUR, Chameera strays onto Kohli's pads and pays the penalty. Kohli shuffles across and whips it off his toes, beats mid-on and races away to the fence in a hurry

28.3 - Dhammika to Rahul, FOUR, gorgeous shot, the shot of the day so far from Rahul, this was overpitched and well outside off, Rahul leans forward, meets the ball on top of the bounce and caresses it through extra cover, raises his fifty as well. He gets a warm applause from the balcony, Kohli pats him on his back, raises the 100-run stand as well

27.4 - Dushmantha Chameera to Rahul, FOUR, top-edge and four, nothing convincing about this pull from Rahul, this was banged in short and on the stumps, Rahul swivelled across on the pull, is very late on the shot and gets a top edge, bounces just in front of the ropes at fine leg

27.2 - Dushmantha Chameera to Rahul, FOUR, nicely played by Rahul, short of a length and holding its line outside off, Rahul waits on it, plays with soft hands and guides it in the gap between second slip and gully

17.3 - Dhammika to Rahul, FOUR, overpitched and punished. Full and outside off stump, Rahul drives along the ground and sends it to the left of cover, who gives chase in vain. That brings up the fifty partnership as well

13.1 - Dushmantha Chameera to Kohli, FOUR, that's a short of length delivery at 138.2kph, but Kohli was very early into his position to pull off the back foot, timed it from the middle of the bat and it raced away behind square on the on-side

11.1 - Dushmantha Chameera to Kohli, FOUR, short of length delivery outside off stump, Kohli was actually trying to leave, but was late to take his bat out of the way, the ball goes off the face of the bat and goes between second slip and gully

11.0 - Mathews to Rahul, FOUR, full and on the leg stump, Rahul flicks uppishly, Silva was stationed at square leg but it went to his right and save away for four

10.0 - Dushmantha Chameera to Kohli, FOUR, oh that is a delightful shot from Kohli. Full and outside off stump, Kohli allows the ball to come, drives with the full face of the bat and sends it through mid-off

9.5 - Dushmantha Chameera to Kohli, FOUR, fast and full but down the leg-side, Kohli tickles it fine and it runs away to the fine leg boundary. First four for Kohli

8.3 - Dhammika to Rahul, FOUR, poor line and Rahul doesn't miss out. Good length delivery down the leg-side, Rahul waits for the ball and tickles it fine to the fine leg boundary

8.0 - Dushmantha Chameera to Rahul, FOUR, full and on the stumps, Rahul leans forward and presents the full face on the drive, sends it to the left of mid-on, who had no chance

6.3 - Dhammika to Rahul, FOUR, good length delivery on the leg stump, Rahul flicks it wide of mid-on, Herath gives chase but loses the race. Rahul didn't try to hit it hard but the timing was excellent on that occasion

2.4 - Dhammika to Rahane, FOUR, friendly ball from Dhammika, length delivery on the pads, Rahane waits and glances it fine to fine leg and opens his account

0.3 - Dhammika to Vijay, leg byes, FOUR, Dhammika bowls this down the leg side, Vijay misses out on the tickle, the ball runs away off the thigh pad to the fine leg fence

80.2 - Dhammika to Rohit, SIX, another great shot from Rohit! This was short and angling down leg, the ball sits up nicely for Rohit, who pulls it over the fine leg fence for a maximum. There was a fielder there but he cleared him easily

56.3 - Kaushal to Rohit, SIX, "catch" was the shout from some of the Sri Lankan fielders. But the ball sailed over the rope. There was a fielder at deepish mid-on, Rohit advanced down the wicket and hit it flat, had enough power behind it to clear the fielder

52.0 - Herath to Rohit, SIX, that has been dismissed, down the track again, gets to the pitch, and gets a clean swing through the line, the ball sails over the long-off fence, signs of intent from the Mumbaikar

37.2 - Herath to Rahul, SIX, cracking shot, just a little shimmy down the track, doesn't get to the pitch of the ball, plays it with the spin and lifts it high and over mid-on, has enough to clear the ropes on the full for a maximum

18.3 - Herath to Kohli, SIX, baaaanggg! Flighted delivery just outside off stump, Kohli advances, gets closer to the pitch of the ball and muscles the loft straight back over the bowler's head, the ball crashes into the sightscreen

114.0 - Herath to Ishant, out Lbw!! That is as plumb as it gets, fourth wicket for Herath and India have been bundled out for 393. The skidder from Herath, pitched on middle and hurried onto Ishant, he was caught in his crease as he went back. Panic struck, Ishant tried to get his bat in front of the pads, ends up playing across the line and missed. The ball thudded into the back-pad, the impact was in middle and it was going on to crash into the stumps. Ishant lbw b Herath 2(21)

111.3 - Herath to W Saha, out Lbw!! Saha falls immediately after lunch. This was the slider from Herath, came back with the angle - he bowled it with a round arm action. Saha was half-forward in defence, the bat came down with an angle, he was rapped on the pads, before his bat could come around, the impact was in front of middle-stump, it was going on to crash into the stumps. Easy call for umpire Oxenford, India's chances of getting a big first innings score have received a jolt. W Saha lbw b Herath 56(117) [4s-6]

105.4 - Dushmantha Chameera to Mishra, out Caught by Chandimal!! Finally, Sri Lanka have managed to break the 46-run stand. A handy innings from Mishra comes to an end. Chameera is rewarded for his persistent bowling - his second wicket. Good length ball in the channel outside off, Mishra goes searching for it, the ball takes the outside edge and settles nicely in Chandimal's mitts. Mishra c Chandimal b Dushmantha Chameera 24(50) [4s-3]

89.3 - Mathews to Ashwin, out Caught by Kaushal Silva!! That's a soft dismissal for Ashwin. A nothing shot really, this was pitched up and held its line outside off, Ashwin leaned forward and punched it straight to Silva at short extra cover. Catching practice for the Sri Lankan opener, India have lost an early wicket on Day 2, a disappointed look on Ashwin's face as he walks off. Ashwin c Kaushal Silva b Mathews 2(7)

87.2 - Mathews to Rohit, out Lbw!! This a big, big wicket for Sri Lanka. Rohit departs just before the end of play on Day 1. This was angling in on middle stump line, Rohit was looking to clip it through the on-side, he misses and wears it on the pad. There was a loud appeal from Mathews and the rest of the close-in fielders. Umpire Oxenford took his time before raising his finger. End of a gritty knock from Rohit, who was looking a little streaky in the last few overs. That'll also be Stumps on Day 1. Rohit lbw b Mathews 79(132) [4s-5 6s-3]

71.5 - Herath to Binny, out Caught by Dushmantha Chameera!! Binny has thrown it away. A poor shot from him and half of the Indian side is back in the hut now. He comes dancing down the track, was nowhere near the pitch of this flighted delivery but still goes through with the loft, doesn't get it off the middle, long-off runs forward to his right and takes an easy catch. Binny c Dushmantha Chameera b Herath 10(40)

59.2 - Dushmantha Chameera to Rahul, out Caught by Chandimal!! Chameera strikes! The plan has worked. Rahul will be kicking himself after seeing the replay. Nonetheless, a brilliant innings comes to an end. Short and slanted across the right-hander, Rahul was in no position to play the pull, tries to fetch it from outside off, but can only manage a top-edge, Chandimal steadies under it and takes it comfortably. That is a wicket thrown away. Rahul c Chandimal b Dushmantha Chameera 108(190) [4s-13 6s-1]

43.3 - Herath to Kohli, out Caught by Mathews!! Excellent catch from Mathews at first slip, Sri Lanka needed this wicket badly. This was tossed up slower and just outside off, Kohli waited on that and looked to dab it fine, gets it very fine though, more of a thick outside edge. Mathews anticipates the shot, stays low and moves across to his right. The ball was travelling and it went low as well, Mathews sticks his right hand out and holds onto a fine catch. The celebrations tell the story, Kohli looks gutted as he walks back to the hut. Kohli c Mathews b Herath 78(107) [4s-8 6s-1]

4.3 - Dhammika to Rahane, out Caught by Karunaratne!! Edged and straight to third slip. The ploy to send Rahane at No. 3 hasn't worked. This is a really poor shot from Rahane. He could have left that alone. Good length delivery swinging away well outside off stump, Rahane plays acres away from the body as he looks to drive, gets a thick edge and Karunaratne makes no mistake as it comes at a comfortable height to him. India are under serious pressure, it's 12/2 inside 5 overs. Rahane c Karunaratne b Dhammika 4(11) [4s-1]

0.4 - Dhammika to Vijay, out Lbw!! Mathews said he would have opted to bowl anyway and what a start this is for Sri Lanka. Vijay, who has been doing very well for India of late in Tests is out for a duck. Fullish and just outside off stump, it was bowled with a scrambled seam, the ball just jagged back in off the seam, Vijay was looking to defend off the front foot but missed it and the ball hit him near the knee roll on the front pad. The impact seemed to be on off and umpire Tucker had no doubt in his mind. Vijay lbw b Dhammika 0(4)

97.2 - Dhammika to Mishra, no run, edged, tad fuller and a hint of shape away from outside off, Mishra was opened up as he looked to play it towards the on-side, gets an edge that drops in front of Mubarak at gully

7.3 - Dushmantha Chameera to Rahul, no run, edgeddddd and put down, Mubarak the culprit. Dushmantha Chameera is getting good carry from the pitch, remember, the captains said at the toss that it was a hard surface. It flew very quickly to gully and Mubarak wasn't ready to pouch it despite getting both hands to it. Back of a length delivery outside off stump, Rahul looks to cut, it wasn't all that far away from the body to play that shot, Rahul gets a thick edge which goes straight to the fielder and gets away with it

108.4 - Kaushal to W Saha, 1 run, 2nd Test fifty for Saha. Kohli is clapping and so are the rest of the team members. Raises his bat and shows a thumbs up. Flatter and on the stumps, punched along the ground to long-on

77.0 - Kaushal to Rohit, 1 run, Rohit gets to his fifty. His team-mates are up on their feet and applauding his effort. This was floated up outside off, Rohit drives it through the cover region for a single

54.3 - Kaushal to Rahul, 2 runs, 2nd hundred for Rahul. The entire Indian team stand and applaud. He kisses the India badge on the helmet, looks at the skies and raises his bat and helmet to acknowledge the applause from his team-mates. Slower and on leg-stump, Rahul presses forward and nurdles it off the glove to long leg, he pushed for the second and had to put in the dive to make his ground. A direct hit would have made things interesting

27.1 - Dushmantha Chameera to Kohli, 1 run, short of a length and on Kohli's hips, nudged away behind square on the on-side, he wanted a second run but is sent back. That raises Kohli's fifty, his 11th in Tests, not much celebrations from the Indian skipper, just raises his bat towards the dressing room

105.2 - Mishra to Kaushal, FOUR, this is another poor delivery, half tracker on the stumps, sat up nicely for the offie, who rocks back and pulls it square of the wicket, no chance for the man in the deep to stop that

97.4 - Ashwin to Mathews, FOUR, that's a brave shot to get to his 6th Test hundred. Flighted delivery on the stumps, Mathews plays the reverse-sweep to great effect, sends it past backward point and it runs away for four. He takes the helmet off and raises the bat to the crowd and the dressing room. All his team-mates were up on their feet applauding the captain's knock

93.5 - U Yadav to Mubarak, FOUR, nice shot from Mubarak. Just used the pace on offer and found the gap. Good length delivery wide outside off stump, Mubarak guides with an angled bat and sends it to the right of backward point, who had no chance

93.0 - Ishant to Mubarak, FOUR, that is a good response from Mubarak after being surprised by a bouncer. Full and just outside off stump, Mubarak leans forward, presents the full face of the bat and drives it along the ground through mid-off

86.5 - Ishant to Chandimal, FOUR, edged and four, on a good length and holding its line outside off, draws Chandimal into the defensive push, he played it with soft hands, gets an outside edge that goes through the gap between slips and gully

82.4 - Ishant to Mathews, FOUR, hat-trick of boundaries, poor bowling from Ishant, length ball on Mathews' pads, flicked away behind square on the on-side, the timing is sublime and the ball races away to the fence

82.3 - Ishant to Mathews, FOUR, this is a poor start from Ishant after lunch, he's wasting the new ball, banged in short and just outside off, Mathews swivels across and pulls it in front of square. Umesh gets across from the deep, tries to stop the ball with his legs and helps it go over the ropes

82.2 - Ishant to Mathews, FOUR, lovely shot, Mathews knew that the line was going to be short, this was banged in halfway down the pitch and well outside off, Mathews swivels across, rolls his wrists and pulls it in front of mid-wicket for a boundary

80.4 - U Yadav to Mathews, FOUR, the new ball raced across the turf. Umesh gets the line wrong, too straight, on off and middle, Mathews leans forward and clips it handsomely through mid-wicket, the timing takes care of the rest

76.1 - Binny to Thirimanne, FOUR, the runs keep flowing, short and width on offer, Thirimanne gets into position quickly and cuts in front of square, the ball beats the two chasing fielders

72.2 - Mishra to Mathews, FOUR, half tracker and Mathews is all over it, transfers his weight onto the back foot and slaps it square of the wicket, that was hit hard as the ball raced away to the fence

71.4 - Ashwin to Thirimanne, FOUR, slider in and around off, Thirimanne waits and waits, almost cuts it off Saha's gloves, gets it to the right of backward point, Mishra dives but the ball escapes. Ashwin is not happy with the effort

63.5 - Ashwin to Thirimanne, FOUR, rare bad ball from Ashwin, drops this one short and well outside off, Thirimanne rocks back and cuts it square past point, much needed boundary for the left-hander

58.1 - U Yadav to Mathews, FOUR, that's very poor from Ishant at mid-on, Kohli looks annoyed as well. This was full and just outside off, Mathews shuffled across, closed the face of the bat, used his wrists and worked it wide of mid-on. Ishant labours across, goes down in installments and allows the ball to escape his grasp, he then has to chase, but the ball beats him to the fence

55.0 - Binny to Mathews, FOUR, that was close, but Mathews gets a boundary, this was full and wide from Binny, swings away further after pitching, lures Mathews into the drive, he plays away from his body and hits it in the air, past the diving cover fielder and into the fence

54.3 - Binny to Mathews, FOUR, lovely shot, tad fuller and in that channel outside off, Mathews leans forward, presents the full face of the bat and punches it past mid-on for a boundary

51.4 - Ishant to Mathews, FOUR, top shot from Mathews. Full and angling in on off stump line, Mathews leans forward and punches it all along the ground with a straight bat, sends it very straight and mid-on had no chance

49.1 - Ishant to Thirimanne, FOUR, width on offer outside off stump and Thiri rocks back to cut it for four. Not a great start for Lambu to his new spell. The length was shortish, Thirimanne cuts it to the right of backward point

48.4 - U Yadav to Mathews, FOUR, overpitched and punished. Full and outside off stump, Mathews drives it through cover, Kohli gives chase but loses the race. He put in the dive and tried to flick it back but it escaped and touched the rope. An angry Kohli then almost kicked the ball away

48.2 - U Yadav to Mathews, FOUR, the outside edge is found this time but it goes wide of second slip. This is the first boundary India have conceded after 115 balls. Short of a length delivery just outside off stump, Mathews looks to defend, the thick edge rolls along the ground to third man

29.2 - Ashwin to Thirimanne, FOUR, Thirimanne brings out the sweep shot. He got a bit success in the last Test playing this shot. Flighted on off, Thirimanne kneels down and sweeps it in front of square, no one in the deep and that is his first boundary

26.2 - U Yadav to Kaushal Silva, FOUR, short and just outside off, not much pace on that, Silva had all the time in the world to swivel on the back foot and pull it through mid-wicket, the ball raced away

23.2 - Ashwin to Kaushal Silva, FOUR, spinning into the pads, Silva prods forward and tickles it fine, was wide of the leg slip fielder, the ball races away fine, Umesh runs across and puts in the dive, but it escapes to the fence

18.2 - Binny to Kaushal Silva, FOUR, now that is an excellent shot from Kaushal Silva. Full and swinging away outside off stump, Kaushal leans forward and drives it to the left of mid-off, who had no chance

18.0 - Ashwin to Sangakkara, FOUR, Sanga has seen enough, he uses his feet, gets to the pitch of the ball and lofts it back over the bowler's head for a boundary. Sanga's wife applauds from the stands

16.1 - Binny to Kaushal Silva, FOUR, short, but not short enough to trouble Kaushal, the batsman had a lot of time to rock back as it was bowled just at 121.8kph, Kaushal pulls powerfully along the ground and sends it through mid-wicket. That boundary also brings up the fifty partnership

13.1 - Ashwin to Sangakkara, FOUR, short and well outside off stump, easy pickings for Sanga, who doesn't miss out. He goes on the back foot and cuts it through cover-point for four

10.4 - Binny to Kaushal Silva, FOUR, in the airrrr but in the gap. Kaushal Silva almost fell in the trap there. There were two men catching close at backward point, but it went between the fielder who was squarer and cover-point. Full and swinging away outside off stump, Kaushal plays a loose drive and gets away with it

8.0 - U Yadav to Kaushal Silva, FOUR, inside edge and four, Silva has the sort of luck that Saha had earlier in the morning, this was pitched up and held its line outside off, Silva went with hard hands on the drive, gets an inside edge that races away past the leg-stump

7.2 - U Yadav to Sangakkara, FOUR, too straight from Umesh, ends up drifting onto Sangakkara's pads, whipped away past square leg for an easy boundary

6.5 - Ishant to Kaushal Silva, FOUR, lucky boundary for Silva, this was banged in short and just outside off, Silva took his eyes off as he ducked under it, left his bat hanging though, the ball hits the back of the bat and bounces away to the fine leg boundary

6.2 - Ishant to Kaushal Silva, FOUR, nicely played by Silva, width on offer from Ishant, Silva leans forward, plays with an open face and guides it square behind point for a boundary

6.0 - U Yadav to Sangakkara, FOUR, cracking shot, wide half-volley from Yadav, Sangakkara gets down on one knee, plays with an open face and finds the gap past cover-point, didn't strike it sweetly, but the ball has enough legs to beat the chasing fielder

108.0 - Mishra to Kaushal, out Stumped!! Sri Lanka have been bowled out. Mishra picks up his 4th of the innings. He has improved as the series as progressed. It was a tailender's shot from Kaushal, races down the wicket to slog, he fails to pick the googly, is beaten on the inside edge and Saha does the rest behind the stumps. Third umpire was also not needed as Kaushal was a long way down the pitch. Kaushal st W Saha b Mishra 6(14) [4s-1]

106.1 - Ashwin to Herath, out Lbw!! Ashwin back with a wicket. Oxenford took a long time before giving the marching orders. The quicker one from Ash, Herath went for his favourite shot - the sweep, he missed and was struck on the back thigh, the impact was in front of middle and the ball would have hit leg-stump. Herath lbw b Ashwin 1(16)

103.4 - Mishra to Mubarak, out Bowled!! What a start for India! Mishra has got rid of the recognised batsman soon after tea. It was very well bowled by the leggie. The straighter one, Mubarak pressed forward and played for the leg-break, the ball didn't turn and went on to hit the top of off-stump. Mishra is delighted as he picks his third of the innings. Mubarak b Mishra 22(46) [4s-2]

99.3 - Mishra to Dhammika, out Caught by Rahane!! This is a good piece of bowling from Mishy and it's his 50th Test wicket as well. The bowling change has worked for India. Nicely tossed up leggie from Mishy, Dhammika was on the front foot to defend, it bounced a bit extra and took the glove, went straight to first slip and Rahane won't miss those. Dhammika c Rahane b Mishra 5(4)

98.1 - Binny to Mathews, out Caught by Vijay!! Mathews falls after his hundred, Binny turns back, asks the umpire if he was checking for a no-ball. No is the answer from the umpire, he turns around and joins the celebrations. He deserved this wicket though. Remember, he had Kaushal Silva caught behind yesterday, but he overstepped the line and was denied the wicket. Nice piece of bowling from him, pitched up and left Mathews at the last moment, drew him into a tentative push - away from his body, finds the outside edge and it's gleefully snaffled by Vijay at first slip. Finally, in his fourth Test, Binny has a wicket to his name. He goes and hugs Vijay in joy. Mathews c Vijay b Binny 102(167) [4s-12]

90.4 - Ishant to Chandimal, out Caught by Rahul!! That is a very good catch at second slip. In fact the replay suggests that he almost spilled it. So Sri Lanka's hero in the last match has been removed early. I must say that it was a poor shot from the right-hander. Nothing but a good length delivery outside off stump, let's credit Lambu for landing it in the right area though, Chandimal leans forward and looks to play with an angled bat, probably looking to test Mishy in the deep again by sending it through backward point, but he almost guides this fine as the ball goes off the oustide half of the bat. Rahul moves to his left and gets both hands, but as he was on the move doesn't manage to grab it cleanly, luckily for him it didn't go too far away from him and was able to take it on the second attempt. Chandimal c Rahul b Ishant 11(23) [4s-1]

84.5 - Ishant to Thirimanne, out Caught by W Saha!! The change of angle has worked for Ishant, Thirimanne isn't happy one bit, but umpire Oxenford's finger was up in a flash. This was pitched up outside off and held its line, lured Thirimanne into the drive, he was looking to drive with a bent knee, there was a noise as the ball went past the bat. Saha's appeal was spontaneous, so was Ishant's, the umpire was convinced as well. That ends a superb partnership, India needed this wicket badly, they have struck with the second new ball. Thirimanne c W Saha b Ishant 62(168) [4s-5]

43.4 - Mishra to Kaushal Silva, out Caught by Ashwin!! 'Catch itttt,' is the cry and that's a dolly for Ashwin. Good field placement from Kohli, to have a man behind square for the top edge. Flighted delivery around off stump line, Kaushal Silva gets down on one knee to sweep, gets a top edge, Ash runs forward from backward square leg and takes an easy catch. Silva is livid with himself as he walks back, he concentrated very hard and played well. That's a well deserved wicket for Mishra, who has bowled very well so far. Kaushal Silva c Ashwin b Mishra 51(118) [4s-8]

25.5 - Ashwin to Sangakkara, out Caught by Rahane!! Sangakkara is out! The crowd are stunned and so is his family. But everyone compose themselves and stand up to applaud. Even his best mate Mahela Jayawardene is on his feet clapping. The Indians are pumped as they know the importance of this wicket. Third time that Ashwin has got rid of Sangakkara in this series. Slower and luring Sanga forward on the defence, the ball turns enough to catch the outside edge, goes low and to the left of Rahane at first slip, he dives and pouches it comfortably. He makes it look so easy. Easily the best slip fielder currently for India. Sangakkara c Rahane b Ashwin 32(87) [4s-4]

1.1 - U Yadav to Karunaratne, out Lbw!! Yadav strikes first ball on his comeback! A dream start for him, a dream delivery as well. This was pitched up and swung back sharply into the left-hander, Karunaratne was done in by the swing, ends up playing across the line, falls over and is struck bang in front of middle and leg. The ball was going on to hit the leg-stump, simple call for umpire Tucker. Karunaratne lbw b U Yadav 1(5)

13.5 - Ashwin to Sangakkara, no run, dropped, but a really tough chance. Shortish and just spinning away outside off stump, Sangakkara goes back to cut, gets a thick edge, because of the fact that Sangakkara went on the back foot, Rahane got up early, it flew quickly to him, he stuck his left hand out but it popped out, he fell back and was too far away to grab the rebound despite putting in the dive

78.3 - U Yadav to Thirimanne, 1 run, again, the length is short and around off, Thirimanne runs it off the face of the bat to deep point. The 100-run stand comes up and the batsmen punch gloves

75.3 - Ashwin to Thirimanne, 1 run, Thirimanne brings up his 4th Test fifty. A much needed knock for him. He missed out on one in the first Test. Looks like a relieved man as he shakes hands with his skipper. Thirimanne comes down the track and eases it to deepish mid-off

68.1 - Mishra to Mathews, 1 run, 23rd fifty for Mathews. It is also his 3rd fifty plus score in his last 4 innings. The school kids at the ground stand and applaud. 36.0 - Ashwin to Kaushal Silva, 2 runs, 9th Test fifty for Silva! His first against India. Well tossed up outside off, Silva gets a stride forward and drives against the turn, a bit risky but he got close to the pitch, sends it through the vacant cover region

84.5 - Dhammika to Mishra, no ball, FOUR, that's a strange way of playing a short ball, this was banged in short by Dhammika, Mishra made room outside leg, it kept following him, he was cramped for room in the end, he plays with an open face and guides it over the slip cordon. Dhammika had overstepped as well

81.0 - Kaushal to Binny, FOUR, another reverse-sweep executed superbly, this delivery was drifting away just outside off, was there on the sweeping length and Binny once again sends it fine, pretty much in the same place as the previous one

80.3 - Kaushal to Binny, FOUR, good improvisation, he premeditated the reverse sweep, it was a low full toss drifting away outside off, Binny gets it away fine wide of backward point, the ball races away

76.0 - Herath to Binny, FOUR, intent from Binny straightaway, this is good selfless cricket. Quite a massive innings for Binny himself but he is down the pitch and swipes it through the line over the bowler's head, goes on the bounce over the ropes

73.1 - Herath to Rahane, FOUR, delightful from Rahane, inside out lofted drive executed to perfection, this delivery was drifting in on middle, Rahane twinkles down inside the line of the ball and chips it superbly over extra cover, bisects long-off and sweeper cover

72.4 - Kaushal to Rahane, FOUR, swept away with complete control, quicker off-break on leg stump, Rahane kneels and plays it hard to the left of fine leg who stood no chance

71.2 - Herath to Rohit, FOUR, Rohit takes the chance and it comes off, nicely flighted on middle stump, Rohit sweeps it in the air against the turn and in front of square, no one there at deep mid-wicket

70.3 - Kaushal to Rahane, FOUR, just a gentle punch nothing else, the emphasis was more on placement, Kaushal gives this a lot of air on middle but is too full, Rahane clears his front leg and punch-drives it to the left of the bowler, Herath is too wide at long-off

66.4 - Kaushal to Rohit, FOUR, easy ball from Kaushal, flighted delivery outside off stump, Rohit leans forward and drives it all along the ground through cover and it races away

55.2 - Herath to Rahane, FOUR, Rahane gets the sweep away fine, again flighted down leg, Rahane goes down on one knee and sweeps it fine, the fine leg fielder moves across and dives, seems to have it covered but the ball sneaks through to the ropes

47.2 - Dhammika to Rahane, FOUR, very full delivery and well wide of off, Rahane threw his bat at it on the drive, again doesn't get it off the middle but gets it wide of cover and the ball has enough legs on it to dribble to the ropes

42.3 - Kaushal to Vijay, FOUR, appeal for LBW, but there was some bat on that, an underedge saved Vijay there, he went across his stumps to a quicker delivery, used Kaushal's pace and got the sweep fine, another boundary for Vijay

38.5 - Kaushal to Rahane, FOUR, reverse sweep from Rahane, he's looking very positive since morning, this was tossed up and just outside off, Rahane gets down on his knees, reverses his stance and sweeps it behind square on the off-side for a boundary, raises his fifty as well

37.5 - Herath to Rahane, FOUR, lovely shot, the inside out drive over extra cover, once he got it wide of the fielder, it was always racing away to the fence. Herath gave this one more air allowing Rahane to lean back onto the shot

35.5 - Herath to Rahane, FOUR, cracking shot, tossed up and on the stumps, no spin for Herath, Rahane gets down on his knees and sweeps it over square leg, the man in the deep is very square and the ball beats him to the fence

34.2 - Dhammika to Vijay, FOUR, edged and four, width on offer from Dhammika, Vijay stays back and attempts a languid late cut, gets a thick outside edge and the ball flies fine, goes wide of Sangakkara at first slip and races away to the fence

31.5 - Herath to Rahane, FOUR, cracking shot, marginally short in length from Herath, Rahane rocks back and plays a half pull/half arm jab, beats mid-wicket and races away to the fence in a hurry

13.3 - Herath to Vijay, FOUR, that is very well played, wasn't all that short but the excellent use of the crease enabled the stroke. Flatter delivery just outside off, Vijay went back and cut it very lat and to the left of backward point who had no chance

8.5 - Dushmantha Chameera to Vijay, FOUR, nicely clipped off his hips, Chameera strays down leg with this back of a length delivery, Vijay is not one to miss out, the timing on it is immaculate as the ball races away to the fence after beating square leg

3.0 - Dhammika to Rahane, FOUR, fantastic shot! Nice way to open the account. Pitched up on off, Rahane presents the full face of the bat and drives past Vijay, beats mid-on to his left and the chase from Mathews. The timing was sublime on that occasion

83.5 - Dushmantha Chameera to Ashwin, SIX, top-edge and six, this was banged in short by Chameera, Ashwin was clearly late on the pull, gets a top-edge that sails over the keeper and into the stands for a maximum

40.1 - Kaushal to Vijay, SIX, no doubts about this one though, Vijay steps down the track, wasn't there to the pitch of the ball but still swings through the line, has enough to clear Mubarak at wide long-on

39.4 - Dushmantha Chameera to Vijay, SIX, cracking shot, fraction too short from Chameera, Vijay is quick to get across and pulls it high and over mid-wicket, almost went all the way, might have just bounced in front of the ad cushions, another boundary for Vijay. He's suddenly changed gears after completing his fifty. The video umpire has several looks, the replays weren't conclusive, it's been called as a six though

88.5 - Dhammika to Mishra, out Caught by Mubarak!! Another wicket for Dhammika, this was banged in short and on the stumps, Mishra swivelled across on the pull, hits it very well but finds Mubarak at deepish backward short leg. He just turns around and walks away to the hut. India have lost their 8th wicket and there's no declaration in sight. Mishra c Mubarak b Dhammika 10(26) [4s-1]

86.5 - Dhammika to Ashwin, out Caught by Chandimal!! Strange happenings at the P Sara Oval. This was banged in short and just outside off, Ashwin was looking to ramp it over the slip cordon, there was a tiny speck of noise as the ball went through. Chandimal wasn't sure, he hardly appealed, neither did the men in the close-in catching positions, the bowler wasn't sure either. He just turned back at the umpire, but Ashwin knew he had nicked, off he went. Umpire Oxenford belatedly raises the finger. Ashwin c Chandimal b Dhammika 19(21) [4s-2 6s-1]

82.1 - Dhammika to Binny, out Caught by Thirimanne!! Edged and caught! Binny falls in the first over after tea. 76.2 - Kaushal to Rahane, out Caught by Chandimal!! Rahane walks, doesn't wait for the umpire. The whole dressing room is up in applause for what has been a tremendous display of grit and composure. 74.5 - Kaushal to Rohit, out Caught by Mubarak!! Rohit perishes in trying to put the foot down. It was a bit slower off-break landing on middle, Rohit goes down on one knee and tries to slog-sweep it out of Colombo, doesn't quite get all of it, the miscue lobs towards Mubarak at deep mid-wicket who moves across to his left, gets under it and pouches it safely with the reverse cup. Rohit c Mubarak b Kaushal 34(55) [4s-2]

52.5 - Kaushal to Kohli, out Lbw!! Kaushal gets his second LBW this morning. Kohli went deep in his crease trying to defend this flatter delivery which pitched on middle and turned back in slightly, he is unable to get any bat on it seemingly hurried by the ball and is trapped right in front. Another easy decision for umpire Oxenford. Kohli could and perhaps should have been forward to that. Kohli lbw b Kaushal 10(19)

44.5 - Kaushal to Vijay, out Lbw!! Vijay dies by the sword. It was pushed through on middle, Vijay goes down on one knee and looks to sweep it hard but fails to connect, the ball spins back in a touch and catches the front pad, umpire Oxenford thought about it for a while and raised his finger. It was right in front and looked out in real time as well. A handy knock from Vijay though. Has done his job this morning. Vijay lbw b Kaushal 82(133) [4s-4 6s-2]

0.5 - Dhammika to Rahul, out Bowled!! Jaffa! Dhammika has his arms wide open and waits for his team-mates to embrace him. Top delivery that from the Sri Lankan pacer. The nip-backer from a length, Rahul plants his front foot forward and pushes at it, the ball takes the inside edge and uproots the leg-stump. He has a problem with the incoming delivery, was out to a similar kind of delivery in the first Test. Good start for Sri Lanka as Dhammika once again strikes in his very first over. Rahul b Dhammika 2(3)

66.3 - Kaushal to Rahane, 1 run, that's it! This is the first Test match that Ajinkya Rahane is batting at No. 3 and he records a hundred, his 4th Test ton. Flighted delivery on the leg stump, a gift from Kaushal and Rahane glances it fine to fine leg. Rahane takes his helmet off and raises his bat to acknowledge the applause. 8.1 - Ashwin to Karunaratne, FOUR, excellent shot. Flighted delivery spinning away outside off stump, Karunaratne dances down the track, gets to the pitch of the ball even as Ashwin bowls this wide outside off stump and lofts it inside-out over extra-cover

43.4 - Mishra to Dushmantha Chameera, out Lbw!! That's it! India level the 3-match series 1-1, with one game to go. This is the first Test win for Virat Kohli as captain. Also first Test win for India since July 21, 2014 after a gap of 399 days. Coming to the ball, the wrong 'un from Mishy, Chameera doesn't pick it, goes back and doesn't offer a shot, umpire Tucker raised the finger in a flash. It was a straightforward decision. Dushmantha Chameera lbw b Mishra 4(5) [4s-1]

41.5 - Mishra to Kaushal, out Lbw!! Mishra has another. India inch closer to victory. This was the googly from Mishra, Kaushal fails to pick it, plants his front foot forward and misses the defence, is struck in front of middle. Umpire Tucker had no hesitation in raising his finger. Replays suggest that the ball might have been turning too much and would have missed leg-stump. Kaushal lbw b Mishra 5(12) [4s-1]

38.4 - Ashwin to Karunaratne, out Bowled!! 5-fer for Ashwin. Just when I thought he was playing him well, Karunaratne gets cleaned up. India inch closer to squaring the series as Ashwin picks his 12th 5-wicket haul in Tests. The slider from the offie, drifts into the left-hander, Karunaratne stays rooted to the crease and tries to keep it out, the ball takes the inside edge and deflects off the back pad. Karunaratne b Ashwin 46(103) [4s-6]

36.4 - Ashwin to Dhammika, out Caught by Mishra!! Poor, poor shot from Prasad. No words to explain what he was doing. Ashwin picks his fourth of the innings. Flighted on off, Prasad skips down, is nowhere to the pitch of the ball, skies the loft towards mid-on, Mishra settles under it and takes it comfortably. No need for that shot, especially when he had just come to the crease. Dhammika c Mishra b Ashwin 0(4)

35.4 - Ishant to Mubarak, out Caught by Kohli!! Mubarak goes for a golden duck. The umpires check for a no-ball, Ishant has always had that problem, but he has some part of his foot behind the line. The finger is raised and the marching orders are given. Another good take in the slip cordon, this time by the skipper. All smiles in the Indian dressing room. Good length ball in the corridor of uncertainty, Mubarak hung his bat away from the body, the outside edge goes low to second slip, Kohli plucks a good catch. India are into the tail now. Mubarak c Kohli b Ishant 0(1)

21.1 - U Yadav to Mathews, out Caught by Rahul!! Perfect start for India. The big fish has departed first ball. Lovely catch from Rahul as well, he's just a makeshift keeper, but this catch would have made any proper keeper proud. This was pitched up and nipped away a fraction, Mathews was lured into pushing at that, gets a thick edge to the right of the keeper. Rahul dived across and grabs a one-handed blinder, with his right glove. Yadav troubled Mathews all along in this Test and he finally gets rewarded. He's chuffed to bits, so is his skipper, the crowd has been silenced. Mathews c Rahul b U Yadav 23(39) [4s-3]

8.5 - Ashwin to Sangakkara, out Caught by Vijay!! That's the end of a wonderful 15-year-old international career for Kumar Chokshanada Sangakkara. Virat Kohli goes to Sanga and shakes his hands. The entire Indian team follow him. A few of the fans are shocked in the stands. Wife Yehali, after being disappointed initially, recovers and manages a smile as Sanga raises his bat, waves to the crowd and walks back for one final time in national colours. A few of the kids quickly form a guard of honour with their bats near the boundary. With the Sri Lankan flag in his hand, Percy goes on the field and congratulates Sanga. Would you believe it? Ashwin has dismissed Sanga for the 4th consecutive time. Flighted delivery just around off stump line, the ball dips on Sangakkara, who looks to defend off the front foot, it grips the pitch and turns considerably, the thick outside edge is found and it goes straight to second slip. It was a small celebration from the Indians as they knew the occasion. They were quick to go and congratulate the master before he walked off. Sangakkara c Vijay b Ashwin 18(18) [4s-2]

2.4 - Ashwin to Kaushal Silva, out Caught by Binny!! Tame dismissal for Silva! It can't get any softer than this. A full toss from Ashwin, Silva was looking to work it towards the on-side, perhaps, he hit it a bit too early, spoons it in the air and towards Binny at short mid-wicket. He bends low and takes a sharp catch, he looks surprised, so do the rest of his team-mates as they join the celebrations. India have struck early in Sri Lanka's chase. Kaushal Silva c Binny b Ashwin 1(9)
