Legendary great of West Indies has expressed his interest to coach the Pakistan team if at all he is offered the job. Pakistan are currently coached by Pakistan veteran and one of the best fast bowlers they have ever produced in Waqar Younis.

Richards was previously involved with the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL as an ambassador and is currently the mentor of Quetta Gladiators which is one of the teams part of the Pakistan Super League. His side has excelled so far and have even reached the business end of things.

The former aggressive batsman is aware of Younis being in charge of the team, but has made his interest known to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) if they are willing to take him on board. 

In the past, Pakistan have had several foreign coaches who have headed the role of a coach. The late Bob Woolmer, Geoff Lawson and Dav Whatmore the latest were some of them who were in charge of the men in green.

Waqar Younis at present is doing a great job with the Pakistan team, but if given an opportunity to take up a coaching assignment with Pakistan cricket, I would definitely give it a shot as I believe I have a lot to offer to the game.

”

Richards was quoted as saying.

The former batsman is also saddened that international cricket teams are not keen on touring Pakistan. After the 2009 terror attack on the Sri Lanka cricket team in Lahore, teams are not willing to travel to the country for cricket series, as a result of which Pakistan is forced to host their home series in neutral venues, primarily in the UAE. Zimbabwe remains the only country to have played in Pakistan after the terror attack.

Richards wants things to improve so cricket fans in Pakistan are not deprived of watching international stars.

"Pakistan is an important member of the world cricket community, and it is sad to see no international cricket being played in Pakistan, and I just hope things improve soon," he said.

"Yes, he (Richards) has also told me he is willing to come to Pakistan and work in any capacity with cricketers. He has been a big influence on our players, who are in awe of him. I think hiring him as our mentor has been the best decision," Quetta Gladiators owner Nadeem Omar said.

He has one of the best in his times and has plenty of expertise that he could bring to the table. Also he is one of the most respected and Pakistan could surely use his experience to get them out of trouble.
