A Worcestershire man recommended left-arm spinner Sam Cook him to Gloucestershire.
He turned up, unknown and uncertain about the county ground protocol, for the pre-season nets.
He recognised Wally Hammond and said, "I'm Cook."
The Master's eyed searched for more explanation.
Cook added, " Cook- from Tetbury."
He had to bowl to and impress Hammond to get a chance to play for Gloucestershire.
