When Fred Trueman met Jawaharlal Nehru

Fred Trueman is often regarded as one of the finest fast bowlers in the history of the game.

He was quite a character too!

In 1956-57, he visited India as part of Geoffrey Howard's XI who played a couple of FC matches in Calcutta and Bombay.

In one of the flights, the team met prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru. The manager sat next to Nehru. He got up only once during the journey. When he came back, he saw Fred sitting beside Nehru and giving him a real ear-bashing about the state of the country!

Typical Fred!
