Due to some technical problems, we are unable to cover live matches on our site and app. We are working on it and will be back soon. Please stay tuned for more.

Welcome back... South Africa are in a huddle. Bad news from the Kiwi camp, Guptill is not opening the innings after injuring his left wrist while fielding. Ronchi is partnering Latham at the top. Will Guptill bat or not? We'll keep you updated. The lights are lit and Steyn has a chat with ABD regarding the field placings. Here we go...

The 185-run second wicket stand had put South Africa on course for a massive total, but McClenaghan and Milne got the yorkers right at the death as they chipped away at the wickets. Behardien and Wiese threw their bats around to take the total past the 300-mark. Sodhi also had a decent outing, though he didn't have anything to show in the wickets column. The pitch has a bit of bounce in it which will give Steyn and Co. something to work with. Join us in a short while for the run-chase....

South Africa would feel they are 20-25 runs short after the platform they were given by the top-order batsmen. Amla and Rossouw were once again involved in a huge partnership. van Wyk departed after giving a quick start, Rossouw joined Amla and the duo started to construct a big stand. The former was a bit dodgy till he reached his fifty, but started scoring freely once he reached the landmark. Amla, on the other hand, was fluent right from the start, he outscored his junior partner and registered his 21st ODI hundred - levelling with Herschelle Gibbs for the most ODI tons for South Africa.

Wiese 14(8) Philander 0(0) McClenaghan 10-1-72-2

49.6 - McClenaghan to Wiese, out Wiese Run Out!! Excellent fielding from McClenaghan. Fullish in length, Wiese swings very hard, but only manages to get an inside onto pad, the ball stays just beside the pitch, McClenaghan picks it up, turns back and fires a direct-hit at the non-striker's end. Wiese run out (McClenaghan) 14(8) [6s-2]

McClenaghan to Wiese, THATS OUT!! Run Out!!

Vernon Philander, right handed bat, comes to the crease

49.5 - McClenaghan to Behardien, out Behardien Run Out!! South Africa try to steal another bye but this time Ronchi and McClenaghan do well to send back Behardien. Another swing and a miss, this time from Behardien to a pacy bumper, Wiese runs for a bye, Behardien was late to react as he was on the back foot to pull, Ronchi threw it to McClenaghan, who then under-armed the ball onto the stumps at the bowler's end. Behardien run out (Ronchi/McClenaghan) 15(10) [4s-1 6s-1]

McClenaghan to Behardien, THATS OUT!! Run Out!!

49.4 - McClenaghan to Wiese, byes, 1 run, another slower ball bouncer, Wiese misses the pull, Behardien wants the strike and he steals a run as Ronchi misses

49.3 - McClenaghan to Wiese, no run, slower bouncer angling away from the right-hander, Wiese swings and misses

49.2 - McClenaghan to Wiese, SIX, in the airrrrr and that's tipped over the bar. 300 up for the Proteas. Slower delivery goes very short, Wiese goes for the hook, hits it flat, the man at fine leg was slightly inside, he tried to reverse-cup it but it popped out and landed over the rope

49.1 - McClenaghan to Wiese, SIX, oh that is a handy hit from Wiese. McClenaghan misses his yorker by a small distance, but that was good enough for Wiese, who slogged it across the line and just cleared wide long-on

Mitchell McClenaghan [9.0-1-60-2] is back into the attack

Milne ends 10-0-51-2.

48.6 - Milne to Wiese, 1 run, short of length delivery on the stumps, Wiese mistimes the pull to long-on

48.4 - Milne to Behardien, 1 run, once again a good yorker from Milne, Behardien squeezes it out to backward point

48.3 - Milne to Behardien, no run, inswinging yorker from Milne, Behardien manages to dig it out

D Miller 14(13) Behardien 13(6) Neesham 7-0-47-1

47.6 - Neesham to D Miller, out Caught by Milne!! The off-cutting slower ball does the trick for Neesham. Miller was never able to pick one from Neesham, he goes for the drive this time and gets a thick outside edge which goes straight to backward point, who takes a good low catch. D Miller c Milne b Neesham 14(13) [4s-1]

Neesham to D Miller, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

47.6 - Neesham to D Miller, wide, this slower ball it too short and wide outside off stump, easy call for the umpire

Oopsy! This is not a good sign for New Zealand. Guptill is walking off the field with an ice pack around his left wrist.

47.5 - Neesham to D Miller, 2 runs, top edgeeeee and it's safe again! This is some luck for Miller. Short delivery on the stumps, Miller was hurried for pace on that occasion, he was late on the pull, the ball went high in the air, Guptill ran forward to his right from deep mid-wicket, dives and tries to grab it one-handed but misses. Looks like he's injured his left wrist while landing on the ground

47.4 - Neesham to D Miller, no run, slower ball banged short, Miller is beaten on the pull as he plays early

47.4 - Neesham to D Miller, wide, oopsy, that's bowled down the leg-side, Miller tries to help it on its way but misses

47.3 - Neesham to D Miller, FOUR, edgeddddd but in the gap. Fullish and outside off stump, Miller goes for the drive, gets a thick edge, the ball splits short third man and backward to perfection. Miller wears a big smile on his face and punches gloves with his partner

47.2 - Neesham to D Miller, 2 runs, he's not hit this well but it evades two fielders and lands safely. Slower delivery outside off stump, Miller slices the drive high in the air, slight misunderstanding between sweeper cover and backward point and it falls safely

47.1 - Neesham to D Miller, no run, slower delivery down the leg-side, Miller misses the flick, gets hit on the pad

James Neesham [6.0-0-37-0] is back into the attack

Over: 47 0 RSA 276/4
Behardien 13(6) D Miller 6(7) Milne 9-0-46-2

46.6 - Milne to Behardien, SIX, my word! That was bowled at 150.1kph by Milne but Behardien had no problems in timing that sweetly. Length ball right in the slot, with his front leg out of the way, Behardien lofts it handsomely over wide long-off. He hardly tried to smash it, just executed the lofted drive to perfection. Handy over for the Proteas, 14 came off it

46.5 - Milne to Behardien, FOUR, it's a top edgeee and that's good enough for Behardien and South Africa. Short delivery on the stumps, Behardien goes for the pull, plays little early and the edge flies over the keeper

46.4 - Milne to D Miller, 1 run, outswinging yorker outside off stump, Miller drives and picks out sweeper cover

46.3 - Milne to D Miller, 2 runs, Miller tries to flick from the crease but the ball takes the leading edge and rolls to deep backward point

45.3 - McClenaghan to D Miller, no run, excellent ball, almost a yorker and swinging back in, Miller digs it out back to the bowler

45.2 - McClenaghan to Behardien, 1 run, short of length delivery outside off stump, Behardien drives it square of the wicket on the off-side

Amla 124(126) D Miller 1(1) Milne 8-0-32-2

44.6 - Milne to Amla, out Bowled!! The fist pump from Milne and why not! This is a fantastic inswinging yorker at 141.9 kph and it was too good for Hash, who walks off to a standing ovation. Amla stays leg-side of the ball and tries to drive, misses and the ball crashes into the base of middle stump. The incoming batsman congratulates Amla for his excellent knock. This is a great over for the Black Caps. Milne has got two massive wickets. Amla b Milne 124(126) [4s-13 6s-3]

Milne to Amla, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!

44.5 - Milne to Amla, FOUR, wooowww! What timing from Hash! Full and wide outside off stump, Amla backs away, reaches out and squeeze it out with an angled bat, backward point dives to his left but it evades him

44.4 - Milne to D Miller, 1 run, walks across the stumps and flicks the good length delivery to deep mid-wicket, off the mark straightaway

44.3 - Milne to Amla, 1 run, 150.1kph on this very full delivery, Amla reaches out and squeezes it out to third man

David Miller, left handed bat, comes to the crease

44.2 - Milne to de Villiers, out Caught by Latham!! The pull shot again, done for pace again but this time it goes straight to the man at deep mid-wicket. Short delivery on the stumps, de Villiers is hurried by Milne on this occasion, the ball hits him high on the bat, hence no timing on it and Latham makes no mistake. This wicket could make a difference of at least 20-25 runs to the final total. de Villiers c Latham b Milne 9(9) [4s-1]

Milne to de Villiers, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

43.6 - McClenaghan to Amla, FOUR, oh that's rocketed to the fence. Shortish and on the leg stump, looked like it was the slower ball, Amla takes his front leg out of the way and goes baaaaang, with his pull shot to the right of mid-wicket

43.5 - McClenaghan to de Villiers, 1 run, 'caaaaaatchhhh' is the cry from McClenaghan but it lands between backward square leg and fine leg. Pacy bumper on the stumps, de Villiers is hurried on the pull, gets a top edge, luckily for him it wasn't healthy enough and evades both the fielder

43.4 - McClenaghan to Amla, 1 run, very full from McClenaghan, Amla digs it out to mid-off

43.3 - McClenaghan to Amla, FOUR, this is excellent placement from Hash! McClenaghan bangs the slower ball short, Amla waits on the back foot after opening himself up for the upper cut and times it sweetly, the ball flies over backward point and beats third man

43.2 - McClenaghan to de Villiers, 1 run, width on offer outside off stump, de Villiers guides it to backward point

43.1 - McClenaghan to Amla, 1 run, Mitch McClenaghan bowls a very good yorker again, Amla manages to dig it out towards cover-point

de Villiers 7(5) Amla 109(119) Ish Sodhi 10-1-55-0

42.6 - Ish Sodhi to de Villiers, FOUR, oh that's sneaked through Ronchi's legs, but the umpire reckons there was a bit of bottom edge on that one. Flighted delivery outside off stump, de Villiers goes for the sweep again, looked like he missed it but the umpire thought there was bat involved. ABdV won't complain though as it adds a boundary to his name

42.5 - Ish Sodhi to Amla, 1 run, edgeddd but there is no one at slip. Amla races down the track, doesn't get to the pitch of the ball and tries to play against the away-spinning ball, gets a thick edge that goes to the right of the keeper

AB de Villiers, right handed bat, comes to the crease

Big roar from the crowd as ABdV strides out.

41.5 - McClenaghan to Rossouw, out Bowled!! Wow! What a ball, the leg stump is broken! That ends a terrific 185-run stand as well. Fast yorker from round the wicket, Rossouw is beaten comprehensively for pace, is late to bring his bat down, it escapes past Rossouw's left boot and crashes into the base of leg stump. That looked really fast but the speed of that ball wasn't shown. Anyway, Rossouw walks back after a very good hand. Rossouw b McClenaghan 89(112) [4s-6 6s-3]

McClenaghan to Rossouw, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!

41.4 - McClenaghan to Rossouw, 2 runs, short delivery down the leg-side, Rossouw pulls it to deep backward square leg

41.3 - McClenaghan to Amla, 1 run, full and outside off stump, Amla slices the drive, was in the air for a while but there was no one at cover-point

41.2 - McClenaghan to Rossouw, 3 runs, an extremely confident shout for LBW from McClenaghan and he can't believe that umpire Ian Gould has given that not out. It was the right call though as the ball easily pitched outside leg stump. Excellent yorker from round the wicket, Rossouw was late to spot it, just manages to get his bat down in time to get the inside edge, the ball rolls to fine leg

He gets a good ovation from the crowd as well. Short of a length delivery on the leg stump, Amla tucks it behind square on the on-side and gets to the milestone. No great celebrations from Amla, he just takes the helmet off and raises the bat

38.6 - Munro to Amla, 1 run, of that's a tight run from Amla but he escapes unscathed. Turns this length ball to the right of mid-wicket, was slightly late to take off, but luckily for him the fielder missed a direct-hit at the bowler's end. 37.2 - Neesham to Rossouw, SIX, in the airrr, a chance for the man at deep mid-wicket, but it just evades him. Neesham bangs the slower ball short, Rossouw pulls, doesn't get the timing right, Bracewell jumps high and tries to grab it with his left hand but misses

That brings an end to the proceedings. The game kept swinging like a pendulum and in the end it was South Africa who held their nerve to go 1-0 up in the 3-match series. With the potential these two teams have, we can expect a closely fought series. Do join us for the second game on Sunday. Until then, take care and Cya!

Amla: "Myself and Morne (van Wyk) thought it was difficult wicket first up. Pretty happy that we got some quick runs at the start. Rilee (Rossouw) came in and was slow to start, but he picked up pace. 250 was a defendable total, but in the end 300 turned out to be a good score. Rilee himself is an exceptional player and we both learn about our respective game plan. He has such power that he can take the game away from the opposition at any time. I don't know why, but we (himself and Rossouw) just like batting with each other. "

Hashim Amla is the Man of the Match for his 126-ball 124.

AB de Villiers: "I am always happy with the win. We played some good cricket, but some poor cricket as well. It takes a bit of time to get things going and hopefully we can hit our straps on Sunday. It was a good foundation given by Morne (van Wyk) and Hash, Rilee is a positive player, but had to stick it out today. We should have won by a bigger margin. We have some new faces and we need time to get used to each other. The bowling unit stepped up and they adapted. A nice fielding session with our fielding coach will be needed before the next game."

Williamson: "Obviously the scorecard reflects that (on how close the game was). The boys stuck at it with the ball after Amla and Rossouw's partnership. The guys came out and played their roles and took us close. Maybe if we had carried a partnership or two, we would have won it. Credit to South Africa as they were the better side. It is about identifying some of the positives for us and there were some today. He (Guptill) had an injection and a new lease of life, I wasn't sure if he would bat, but he came out. Hopefully he will be fine for the next game. The surface is a new one and different, it is all about adapting."

The visitors lost the plot soon after as Vernon Philander struck twice in an over to remove Grant Elliott and Tom Latham. Under pressure, Jimmy Neesham and Colin Munro batted sensibly and shared a fifty partnership, but David Wiese's slower ball bumper consumed Neesham and that gave South Africa the opportunity to tighten the screws. Mitchell McClenaghan and Adam Milne hit a few timely blows towards the end, but the Proteas managed to seal the game with 11 balls to spare. Dale Steyn, Vernon Philander, Imran Tahir and David Wiese - all finished with two wickets apiece.

Chasing 305, New Zealand were off to a poor start as Luke Ronchi, who was promoted to open the innings because of a wrist injury to Martin Guptill, edged Dale Steyn to first slip. Tom Latham and Kane Williamson then were involved in a 104-run stand before the latter was caught at extra-cover. Guptill walked in at No. 4 but didn't last long as he holed out to long-on.

0.6 - Steyn to Ronchi, out Caught by Amla!! The outside edge is finally held. However, the umpires are checking if it was a clean catch. No issues with Steyn's footing. Oh! This is a very close one for the man in the air-conditioned box. Did it touch the grass before Amla closed his fingers? Will the benefit of the doubt go to the batsman? Interestingly, Ronchi has crossed the boundary and is climbing the stairs to the dressing room. Looks like the third umpire is happy with what he's seen. OUT is the call! What an eventful over from Steyn. Nothing but an outswinging length ball just outside off stump, Ronchi looks to defend off the front foot, goes with hard hands, the ball takes a thick outside edge, Amla does extremely well to dive low to his left and grab it inches from the ground.
