One slip for Zaheer.. Remember him tormenting the left-handers?

Welcome back! The equation is clear. Win and go through, lose and go home. Kohli and Gayle walk out.. and my typing fingers have been intimidated already! Raju Peethala has just finished his commentary stint but doesn't forget to point out that if BLR win this, they will play the playoff at Bengaluru, thanks to their very healthy NRAJ

"It's an awesome feeling for a bowler. On this wicket, you have to vary the pace and have to keep bowling slightly outside the off-stump. If you are aiming for wickets, you will get your rewards. Hopefully we can chase this down easily," hopes the leggie, Chahal who receives the purple cap from the mighty Ian B.

In the all-important game in Raipur, BLR put up a clinical show to restrict the opposition ranks to a modest total. On a track that was on the slower side, BLR's bowlers were impressive and chipped in with regular wickets. Only Quinton de Kock showed his mettle by holding DEL's innings together and attempted a smart recovery. However, he just couldn't get the required support from others. Chahal and Gayle shared five spoils between them for the BLR camp. BLR's fielding, too, was largely on the money. To encapsulate the point, Virat Kohli showed great commitment to snare a running catch to dismiss Nair. Remember, he has a split webbing on his left-hand. BLR should fancy their chances of chasing it down and qualify for the playoffs.

C Morris 27(18) Jayant Yadav 5(7) Watson 4-0-27-0

19.6 - Watson to C Morris, out Jayant Yadav Run Out!! 1 run completed. Dipping full toss at the stumps, Morris clears his front leg and looks to mow one through mid-wicket. Slices it off the outside edge over cover and there was never a double in it. Jayant Yadav doesn't even watch his partner, just keeps his head down and runs (for the team's cause obviously). Chahal pings a throw to KL Rahul who was waiting behind the stumps. Whips the bails off and churns out a cheeky grin. Jayant Yadav run out (Chahal/Rahul) 5(7)

19.2 - Watson to Jayant Yadav, no run, mild appeal for lbw, but the umpire isn't interested. Jayant Yadav crouched low and came across the stumps to flick one past short fine. It was full and tilting down leg, slams Yadav's back leg and rolls away to the keeper. Would have clearly missed leg

19.1 - Watson to Jayant Yadav, no run, slower short delivery, the key was he bowled it straight denying room for Jayant Yadav who misses on the ramp

It looks like he's landed on the line - which belongs to the umpire. "The benefit of doubt might go to the bowler" chirps Sanjay Manjrekar on air. "Why would you be an umpire" retorts Hayden. The TV ump. is trying numerous angles. Someone freeze the clock please! And here comes the verdict - He is O-U-T. de Kock waltzes down the pitch and goes through with the attempted loft. 14.6 - Gayle to Brathwaite, out Caught by Watson!! Is he out? The umpires have decided to go upstairs. The referral is for a bump ball. It's a fair delivery, looks like it came off the thick outside edge. Yep! The replays confirm the same and Brathwaite has to walk back. The telly ump. confirms the same. Please have a look at Gayle's bowling figures - Did he borrow Shane Warne's fingers today? It was very full and wider of off, lures Brathwaite into squeezing it hard. He plays it off the back foot and ends up slicing it. Watto at backward point nestles it inches above the turf. Brathwaite c Watson b Gayle 1(2)

9.3 - Chahal to Samson, out Caught by Rahul!! Sanju Samson isn't happy with the decision. Did it come off the bat? Not sure. Will confirm once the replays are out. It was a genuine legspinner that turned away from the right-hander. Shorter in length which enticed Samson to glide it towards third man with an open bat face. Rahul snaffles it and goes up straightaway, the umpire's finger goes up in a flash too. Someone send a truck to take Samson to the dressing room! He just doesn't want to leave. But before I leave, here's something to let you NOT sleep - the last five T20 Leagues have been won by second-placed teams on the points table. If you ever get reprimanded for missing that first rank, flash this statistic and numb your critic. A final ta-ta!

That Kohli interview felt longer than his innings, I swear. Another half-century from the 'maester' backed up a brilliant and dare-I-say unexpected bowling effort to steam BLR up to the second position. Consider this: they meet Gujarat on their home ground in the Qualifier, let alone having another shot at that finale slot if they lose. DEL, meanwhile, fought bravely with a team too young, with a captain too adept, but had to surrender to the aggressive musical chairs in team selections. Join us for the most awaited playoffs. Till then, Pratyush Sinha tenders a goodbye, again, on behalf of Raju Peethala and Venkatesh.

Kohli (Man of the Match): "Honestly, those stats (about me) have mostly reached me through images but I choose not to look at it. Every game is an opportunity to win it for your team. We were at No. 7 position in the table, an impossible situation, and now we have two chances at the final, having finished at No. 2. I tried to make the most of my batting form and take the team through. Our focus has paid off. It's not easy but you have to start afresh everyday. I know it sounds boring and traditional but it has to be boring. Everyday has to be made use of, if you are a sportsman at this level. I am extra motivated when I come on to the field and make sure I work hard off the field as well. It's very important to not get rude or arrogant about your form or about how you strike the ball. There will be a few incidents, people will have a go at you on the field, but after the chat is done, you have to get back to the basics. There is a very thin line between overconfidence and being calm about your skill. After the Australia series this year, I felt that people have come up to me and genuinely want me to do well. I play my heart out for the country and for the team I am playing for right now. Batting has done well but the bowlers - the wicket was worth more than 130 odd. It was a good track but we were cautious while chasing such a small target. Easily 160 par wicket. You can tend to get carried away, thinking that we won the toss, the batting is doing well but we conceded very few runs in the last few overs. Everyone was keen in the changing room to stand up and say that he's going to be the guy who's going to do it tonight. The support has been wonderful wherever we played and we heard BLR's chants here too in Raipur. Will happen when you have two of the world's most loved cricketers in de Villiers and Gayle in the team. They (Gayle and ABD) should settle down here now."

The presentations are on. Who speaks the longest for the longest of times? Dhoni? Most certainly. Imagine a presentation communication between Atherton and him!

Zaheer: "Wonderful campaign. On the whole, we played good cricket. Some days you play good, some days bad. Youngsters learnt a lot, tremendous potential there. We gave a tough time to all the sides. Playoff should have been fantastic but we are happy. 160 would have been defendable on this big ground. We needed early breakthroughs. Kohli is good at absorbing the pressure. We bowled well but Virat is in a very good form and we were 15-20 runs short. The team has young guys and odd days will be like this. We have given them the freedom. One partnership was critical and we couldn't get going in that. A big game this was, pressure game. I haven't really thought about it (my future). Have enjoyed my time with the youngsters and trying to pass my knowledge to them. Still enjoying and will see."

It's clear now - GUJ are number 1, BLR are number 2, HYD are number 3 and KOL are number 4. The first qualifier will now be played between BLR and GUJ 'with' Raina. Some action-packed days coming up for sure.

To be fair, DEL had their moments - especially after the start that their bowlers gave them but it would only be apt to say that it was their batsmen's performance in a crunch game that lost it for them. Changing squads every match didn't help either. One would have expected some more resolve from the stalwarts-coached unit of DEL. It tells you that you just don't need all those technical analyses, statistics etc to win big games. You need temperament and natural ability much more than anything else to win. Anyway, all criticisms aside, it was the BLR storm that hit DEL more than anything else. The temperament the BLR players possessed on the big days and the momentum they gathered mattered a lot. They would surely be a force to reckon with in the playoffs.

It was a simple equation for BLR - win this and jump to the second spot. The longer boundaries and a decent pitch for bowlers notwithstanding, the early loss of Gayle and de Villiers notwithstanding too, BLR just rode on the momentum they have gathered in the past 4 games. Their bowlers had already won them half the battle but it was really Kohli who compiled a partnership of 66 from 45 balls with the much under-rated Rahul which mattered the most in the final analysis. KL Rahul deserves all accolades for putting the pedal down when the chips were down at 17/2. He played a gem of an innings under the circumstances. In fact the way he has played this T20 League just shows you how well he has adapted to the shorter format. Shane Watson got out when about 30 were required, but I guess it was all settled by then especially with the skipper keeping one end steady. Virat Kohli anchored the chase with absolute precision as he so often does for his team with a valuable half-century, this time letting others do more of striking. We have seen him play like this more for India than for BLR.

18.1 - Brathwaite to Kohli, 1 run, only fair that Kohli hit that winning run that takes BLR into the playoffs. And thanks to a superlative runrate, BLR jet up to the second position in the points table and earn themselves a second chance at that elusive finale spot. What a turnaround for them - a struggling bowling line-up cotton-wooled in a monstrous batting lineup and they deliver.. Kohli sprinted post that clip to mid-on, had both his arms up and stared into the sky making gestures.. Lovely scenes

1.3 - C Morris to de Villiers, no run, bumps this ball off the pitch at good bounce. What worked in his favour was the dart in from the pitch and the bounce made it worse. de Villiers arched back and defended with an open bat's splice. Just one slip for him, if I have not mentioned it

1.2 - C Morris to de Villiers, no run, sticks to over the wicket, darts in the length delivery and sees a sane tuck to mid-wicket

AB de Villiers, right handed bat, comes to the crease

1.1 - C Morris to Gayle, out Bowled!! Gayle's been choked. For room. Morris had employed two slips and you would have expected a fuller one. Instead, a length ball catches Gayle stuck behind. Just manages a late shuffle across to leg to make room for the cut. Unfair to call it a cut seeing the force into that shot.. more like hung his parallel bat out there. But the length isn't there and nor is the room, as the angle from over the wicket wasn't overbaked. Inside edge and an ugly chop onto the stumps. Gayle b C Morris 1(4)

C Morris to Gayle, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

Chris Morris, right-arm fast medium, comes into the attack

Morris now. That first over from Zaheer was good. Discount that boundary because Kohli is better

Over: 1 0 0 1 4 0 0 BLR 5/0
Kohli 4(3) Gayle 1(3) Zaheer 1-0-5-0

0.6 - Zaheer to Kohli, no run, droolworthy front foot defence to bunt this length ball to cover. Nicely used the long stride to cover for the angle, got behind the line and middled the bejeezus out of it.. the defence I mean. Such form

0.5 - Zaheer to Kohli, no run, lovely response. Pings it fuller, gets it to loop off the pitch and Kohli gets his bat high.. and higher to leave that

0.4 - Zaheer to Kohli, FOUR, that's a starter. So delicious. Gets this length ball angled wide from over the wicket, waited on the back foot and packs a punch through covers. Extra cover dives but Kohli has hit it and it obeys him

Two slips

0.3 - Zaheer to Gayle, 1 run, hops to ride the bounce on this length delivery, turns around to tap this with soft hands and runs. Yes, runs. Off the mark as a result. Kohli time now

0.2 - Zaheer to Gayle, no run, closer he gets. On a length this time, and swings away but not much to give Gayle the room. The Caribbean swings his flat bat and mistimes it to mid-on. Too cramped. He generally takes time..

0.1 - Zaheer to Gayle, no run, drops this outswinger on a back of a length and the movement takes it wide enough for Gayle to shoulder arms. Get it closer, Zak!

Gayle and Kohli are at the crease. Gayle is on strike. Zaheer will open the attack
