Dhawan continued and in a surprise move was joined by MS Dhoni. This is the first time the Indian skipper came at No. 4 in ODIs since July 28, 2012. The duo started the repair work before Dhawan threw his wicket away after reaching his fifty. Rayudu came and went without troubling the scorers. Raina joined MSD and the pair added 53 runs for the 5th wicket, but Mustafizur came back to end Raina's innings. He later on picked up Dhoni and Axar in consecutive balls, before Ashwin became his fifth victim. Then the rain arrived and there was a long delay in play. The game was reduced to 47 overs. Jadeja was cleaned up off the first ball after resumption giving Mustafiqur a 6-wicket haul. With that wicket, the youngster made history as he became the first player in ODI history to take 11 wickets in his first two matches. The very next over Bhuvi edged a pull off Rubel to end the Indian innings.
Mustafizur Rahman was a novice when he was given the ball in the first ODI. Now, in a span of 3 days, he has become a household name in Bangladesh. The 19-year-old picked up his second 5-wicket haul in as many games and became only the second bowler to do so in ODI history. He started it all once again for the hosts, sending back Rohit Sharma off the second ball of the game. Dhawan and Kohli managed to stitch a partnership, but the latter misjudged a Nasir Hossain offering and was trapped LBW.

Earlier in the day, Dhoni opted to bat on a pitch which seemed flat and dry. Rohit Sharma was gone for nought off the second ball and he yet again failed to pick Mustafizur Rahman. Dhawan held one end for a reasonable period and registered his 13th ODI fifty. Kohli, Dhoni and Raina failed to capitalize on their respective starts while rest of the batsmen failed to get to double digits. Even though Jadeja hung around, he could not make a valuable contribution. The target was revised to 200 in 47 overs as per D/L method after rain made a long appearance.
Soumya Sarkar stayed on and bludgeoned the Indian bowlers along with the keeper Litton Das. Ashwin, who was the pick of Indian bowlers, sent back Sarkar with a flatter delivery that kept low. Bangladesh played refreshingly aggressive cricket and gave a real hard time to the Indian players in both departments.
