But the reason seems to have more to do with the under-preparedness of the pitches rather than video-assisted preparations by the teams, as Jonathan suggests. The ball is doing strange things for Indian conditions, like fizz around. It is also keeping low off and on, and the variable bounce is making things very unpredictable. Add to that the conditions favouring swing with the new ball and the pitch offering spin later, and you’ve got bowlers’ fantasies all around the world coming true.
