Top Batsmen
One of the aspects of the IPL that was underplayed when it began but has pretty much bulldozed through a lot of other takeaways to come to the fore is the emergence of new Indian players.
It is a bit of an irony that the biggest find of the tournament was not an Indian but an Australian. So now, it is not surprising that the ranking points rate Marsh as the batsman of the tournament.
A surprise is the man who comes in at number 3, Sanath Jayasuriya, who has knocked out the myth that T20 is about youngsters with a bit more force than that applied on all the mighty sixes he hit.
A fairly revealing stat is that Kolkata finds only one batsmen in the top 10, one who made it based primarily on one innings – McCullum, while Bangalore find none at all.
That Hyderabad find two batsmen in the top 10 seems to show that their insipid bowling is possibly a bigger factor in their abysmal last place finish than fits-and-bursts batting.
Anyway, enough talk, here are the top 25 batsmen in the IPL, based on Squadstats Ranking Points.

Top Bowlers
The number 1 bowler isn’t a surprise at all, Tanvir has booked his slot ages ago. But the second ranker is the unexpected Amit Mishra, who has emerged as the spinner of the tournament.
Shane Watson makes it to both, the top 10 batsmen and top 10 bowlers lists, which explains why he was a clear choice for the Man of the Series trophy.
Mumbai have nearly their entire attack in the top 20 which goes to highlight how far they could have gone as a team had they not squandered several golden opportunities. Rajasthan have three bowlers in the top 10, and two batsmen, which reflects their all-round strength and high performance levels through the tournament.
Here, then, are the top bowlers in the IPL, based on Squadstats Ranking Points
