Shaun Marsh ruled out of IPL

Kings XI Punjab opening batsman Shaun Marsh ruled out for IPL due to back injury.

The Aussie player has been in pain since April 19, during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders and has been struggling with the discomfort since then. Marsh has managed himself to pull through the match against Gujarat Lions which was on Sunday where he batted and fielded. He will be flying back to Australia immediately, the franchise is looking for the replacement.

Marsh became the third Australian player to withdraw from the tournament due to injury in the past 24 hours, with brother Mitchell Marsh and Steven Smith, both of Rising Pune Supergiants, having also flown back.

Punjab have won two matches out of seven so far in the competition and are currently placed last on the points table. Marsh had scored 159 runs in six matches, at an average of 31.80 with a strike-rate of 118.65. He has the best average among the Punjab batsmen in the tournament so far, and the third highest runs tally.
