Chris Woakes who was ruled out of the Champions Trophy due to side strain may miss the first two Tests against South Africa.
The recovery timeframe is supposed to be four to six weeks which Woakes admitted could be longer before he returns fully fit on the field.
This almost confirms his absence from the first Test against South Africa which begins at Lord’s on July 6. It is likely that he could miss the second Test also which starts on July 13.
Woakes said,
“
It's a left side strain and there is a tear in the muscle, it’s a grade-two injury, which is not terrible news, but it's not great news at the same time.
”
He is expected to return in the third Test against South Africa at Old Trafford on July 27.
