South Africa have announced their ODI squad for the series against Sri Lanka.
Newcomer Lungi Ngidi has been called up to the ODI squad, after a phenomenal performance in the T20s against Sri Lanka.
He picked up 6 wickets in his first 2 T20s.
Convener of selectors Linda Zondi said,
“
We need to take it one step at a time with him and see how he develops but we are very pleased with what we have seen so far. To have guys like Ngidi, Dwaine Pretorius and Andile Phehlukwayo coming through proves to us that our pipeline is producing.
”
AB de Villiers, who was sidelined due to an elbow injury returns to the squad along with Chris Morris.
Most recently AB de Villiers announced that he would like to opt out of the New Zealand and England series as he felt he wasn’t ready to come back to Test cricket.
Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel were both left out due to injuries.
