New Zealand announce list of contracted players for year 2017 and 2018

NZ offer new contracts to Raval, Grandhomme and Broom.

New Zealand opener Jeet Raval, all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme and batsman Neil Broom have all been given a new contract.

Pacer Doug Bracewell was dropped from the list along with offspinner Mark Craig and Luke Ronchi who announced his retirement.

Omission Craig who played only one test in last 12 months was no surprise, while Bracewell who played 2 Tests and one ODI in the past year suffered a serious knee injury and was also booked for a drink and drive offense.

There was no place for the offspinner Jeetan Patel who played 5 Tests and 4 ODIs in the past 12 months. Patel announced his retirement from International cricket hours after Ronchi had done so.

New Zealand selector Gavin Larsen said,

We enjoyed having Jeetan's experience and skill over recent times but we're into a new cycle now; it's two years out from the ICC CWC, and we're committed to bringing other players through.
