Franchises agree to play PSL Final in Pakistan

The Pakistan Super League franchises have agreed to hold the final of this year’s PSL in Pakistan.

The owners of the franchises have agreed that in case their team qualifies for the final, their teams will travel to Lahore, Pakistan to play the final on March 5th.

The decision came after the management committee of the PSL ensured everyone that proper security arrangements will be provided.

PSL chairman, Najam Sethi said in a statement,

It has been heartwarming to see the dedication of all the owners to the cause of taking cricket back home. There is a realisation that this final will be the first step in opening the gates to international teams starting to make the journey again. We are all committed to this mission and wish to have a thoroughly entertaining final where it should happen - in Lahore.

The PCB has taken numerous steps in its planning for the final. The board has bought four bulletproof buses for the transport of players, and has previously spoken about planning it such that players fly in and then out immediately either side of the match.

However, foreign players are still unsure on whether they want to travel to Pakistan for the final. Players like Chris Gayle, Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara have voiced their concerns and have refused to travel there.

The PCB has given the franchises a list of 54 foreign players who have agreed to travel to Pakistan for the final. They include players from Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, England, South Africa, West Indies and Bangladesh.
