South African fast bowler Chris Morris has headed back to South Africa, midway during their tour of New Zealand.
After the 1st Test, South Africa called up an extra spinner Dane Piedt to their squad as the pitch turned out to be spin-friendly rather than pace-friendly.
South Africa hence released Morris from the squad.
Morris' departure leaves South Africa with Wayne Parnell and Duanne Olivier as back-up to the fast-bowling team of Vernon Philander, Kagiso Rabada and Morne Morkel.
The 3-match Test series is currently at 0-0, with the 1st Test being drawn. The 2nd Test is currently underway.
