Australian players will face a ban of six months if they play in any overseas T20 tournaments without the approval of Cricket Australia(CA).

This warning was issued to all the players, whether they are in or out of contract after the MoU expiry. Though it was not directly related to the Australian women team who is currently taking part in World Cup in England.

The warning was issued by CA’s team performance manager Pat Howard on Wednesday night via state associations and was also sent to ACA. 

Howard wrote,

“

Players (including uncontracted players) cannot play in ICC approved cricket (e.g. domestic T20 competitions operated by overseas cricket boards) without approval from Cricket Australia, players who participate in disapproved cricket (e.g. exhibition matches) are not permitted to participate in ICC approved cricket for a minimum of six months thereafter.

”

The Ashes will start in November and any such bans would keep the players out of contention for the England series.

Howard also wrote that if there is any delay in signing the new MoU, there won’t be any back pay for the days lost in between signing the new contract.

The ACA has called CA’s chief executive James Sutherland to intervene and have direct negotiations with his counterpart Alistair Nicholson along with ACA executive Greg Dyer, Shane Watson, Aaron Finch, Moises Henriques, Neil Maxwell, Lisa Sthalekar and Janet Torney on Sunday if no agreement has been reached.
