Tim Bresnan joins Scorchers, replaces David Willey

Perth Scorchers have signed English bowling allrounder Tim Bresnan as the club's international replacement player for David Willey.

The 31-year-old Bresnan joins former England teammate Ian Bell at the Scorchers, while fellow Ashes victors Kevin Pietersen (Melbourne Stars) and Stuart Broad (Hobart Hurricanes) also play in the Twenty20 competition.

Bresnan will be available to play for the Scorchers in their January 11 BBL game against the Brisbane Heat at the Gabba, with Willey unavailable due to England team commitments.

David Willey has been called into England's squad for the ODI and T20 International series in India later this month.

Scorchers coach Justin Langer said,

Tim is another very experienced player who's done very well in Twenty20 cricket in England. His international experience and first-class experience is a great asset for us. Like with the rest of our squad, he's a very good person who'll fit in very well for our team ethos.

Bresnan, a veteran of 23 Tests, last played in the BBL two years ago with the Hurricanes.

Perth Scorchers are currently leading the BBL points table with three wins from four matches, and next face the Heat at the Furnace on January 5.
