Shaun Marsh and James Faulkner ruled out of tour of South Africa

Australian players Shaun Marsh and James Faulkner have been ruled out of the upcoming ODI tour of South Africa.

Usman Khawaja has been called up to replace Shaun Marsh but no replacement has been named for James Faulkner.

Marsh fractured his finger during the recent tour of Sri Lanka and even though he was named in the ODI squad to visit South Africa, further x-rays have ruled him out.

Faulkner suffered a calf strain at Australia's training session and is expected to be sidelined for up to a month.

Australian team physio David Beakley said,

Shaun undertook a follow up x-ray and was reviewed by specialists this week. Unfortunately, due to the fracture being in the joint of the finger we have decided to take a more conservative approach, therefore he will not be available for the ODI series in South Africa.

On Faulkner’s injury, he said,

James suffered a low grade calf strain during a fitness session in Sydney today which we expect to take three to four weeks to recover. Unfortunately, this means he will also be unavailable for the South Africa series.
