Nathan Coulter-Nile ruled out of ongoing Sri Lanka series

Australia bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile has been ruled out of the Sri Lanka series due to a lower back injury.

He was a part of the Test and ODI squad but did not play a single match.

On his injury, Australia’s physiotherapist David Beakley said,

Nathan had been experiencing a gradual increase in lower back pain which is now preventing him from bowling at match intensity. He will now return to Perth for further investigation which will determine the extent of the injury and possible return to play timelines.

The selectors have decided not to name a replacement for Coulter-Nile, as Scott Boland and John Hastings are already joining the squad.

Meanwhile, the T20 squad was also announced by the selectors.

Glenn Maxwell and Chris Lynn have been called up to join the T20 squad. Maxwell was dropped from the Test and ODI squad earlier for his poor form. Lynn had a great CPL and earned a call-up.

Australia are set to play Sri Lanka in two T20s. David Warner will captain the side in the absence of Steven Smith, who has been withdrawn from the rest of the series.

Australia T20 Squad:

David Warner (capt), Aaron Finch, Shaun Marsh, Travis Head, Chris Lynn, Glenn Maxwell, Moises Henriques, Peter Nevill (wk), James Faulkner, John Hastings, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Scott Boland.
