IPL Chief Operating Officer Sundar Raman Resigns

Indian Premier League chief operating officer Sunder Raman resigned on Tuesday.

His resignation has been accepted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Sundar Raman's role had been questioned by the Justice Lodha Committee during their investigation into the IPL spot-fixing scandal.

Back in July, BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur had made it clear that they would not rush to any decision regarding Raman's fate amid calls for his ouster, terming him a mere "employee and not a decision maker".
Contrary to the earlier regime when Raman was perceived to be one of the most powerful figures in the Board, Thakur categorically stated that Raman was merely "an employee".

Earlier in January, the Supreme Court said that the allegations against Sundar Raman could not go un-probed and said the 'truth must be brought to light'.

Sundar Raman was also among the 13 named in the Justice Mukul Mudgal report last November. However the Supreme Court did note that the report 'did not indict' Raman in clear words.
