Gautam Gambhir has been called as a replacement for KL Rahul for the remaining India vs New Zealand Tests.

KL Rahul injured his hamstring during the 1st Test match and has been ruled out of the remainder of the series.

Gambhir, whose exclusion from the squad was questionable has now been called after years of being out of the squad.

His latest run in the Duleep trophy consisted of good scores which has led to his selection.

Jayant Yadav has also been called to the squad as a replacement of Ishant Sharma. 

Ishant Sharma was ruled out of the 1st Test as he was recovering from chikungunya but has been ruled out of the 2nd Test as well.

It remains to be seen if Gambhir will be chosen in the squad ahead of fellow southpaw Shikhar Dhawan.

India play their 2nd Test from September 30, 2016. India lead the series 1-0.
