Faf Du Plessis likely to miss Lord's Test

Expectant father, Faf Du Plessis could miss the first test against England at Lord's on 6th July. Faf is awaiting the arrival of his first child, who is expected in the first week of July.

The Protea's test skipper, Faf had already confirmed that he will not be part of the T20 series and now he will be missing the first test as well, he will stay back home for little longer for baby Faf to arrive.

Faf Du Plessis said,

I'm pretty nervous, to be honest. It's now just a countdown for when the baby comes. My wife is pretty certain that she wants to go the normal route so that takes longer. It now becomes a race for the first Test match.

AB De Villiers will only be leading his side in the T20 series, as he has confirmed that he will stay away from the entire Test series to manage workload and return home to his family.

Hashim Amla, who stepped down from captaincy in January 2016, may be forced to take the responsibility of leading his side for the Test. If he declines to take up the offer, JP Duminy or Dean Elgar will be the other options to lead the first test.
