Boult and Southee to rest and rotate for Bangladesh series

New Zealand's frontline seamers Trent Boult and Tim Southee will have their workloads managed through the limited-overs portion of their series against Bangladesh to ensure they are fresh for the rest of the international programme.

From the high of winning a Test series against Pakistan in November, the switch to the shorter game brought the New Zealanders sharply back to earth early this month when they were hammered 3-0 by Australia.

Boult was New Zealand's most successful bowler in their previous international assignment - the three-match Chappell-Hadlee Trophy in which he took six wickets in three matches.

New Zealand coach Mike Hesson said,

Trent won't play the third ODI or the start of the T20s and Tim won't be involved in the T20s at all just to prepare them for the Test series. It's always a balancing act with guys that play all three forms especially the bowlers.

The first game in the three match one-day series is on Boxing Day in Christchurch.

Bangladesh's tour of New Zealand consists of 3 ODIs, 3 T20s and 2 Tests.

New Zealand squad: Kane Williamson (c), Trent Boult, Neil Broom, Colin de Grandhomme, Lockie Ferguson, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Colin Munro, James Neesham, Luke Ronchi (wk), Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee.
