Due to some technical problems, we are unable to cover live matches on our site and app. We are working on it and will be back soon. Please stay tuned for more.

Welcome back... Quetta are in a huddle. Sarfraz is leading the pep talk. He looks fired up. Sanga seems very involved as well, is having a word with Anwar Ali regarding field placements. Dwayne Smith and Sharjeel Khan stride out to the middle. We are 20 overs from crowning the first PSL champion. Ali to kick-start proceedings. Buckle up folks, we are in for a thriller. Off we go...

Once the duo perished in succession, Quetta kept losing wickets and couldn't find the momentum towards the end. Nonetheless, it is a final and they have the runs on the board. Can Misbah and Co. handle the pressure of a final? Or will Quetta Gladiators be the first PSL champions? Join us in a short while for the chase...

Losing a wicket in the first over to reaching 174, Quetta Gladiators would be happy. However, after the Shehzad-Sanga partnership (87), they would feel a bit disappointed. Bismillah Khan got a rough one from the umpire, KP couldn't get going and it was left to Sanga to do the repair work. The legend responded in style, reaching a 30-ball 50 and stitching an important partnership with Shehzad, who also got to a fifty.

Over: 20 W 6 6 1 QTG 174/7
Elliott 12(9) Nathan McCullum 0(0) A Russell 4-0-36-3

19.6 - A Russell to Elliott, SIX, Quetta finish on a high. Second six of the over and Sir Viv Richards is on his feet for the Nth time. Elliott went deep in the crease and converted it into a length delivery, smashed it high and over the long-off fence

Nathan McCullum, right handed bat, comes to the crease

19.4 - A Russell to Anwar Ali, out Caught by Khalid Latif!! Ali perishes for the team's cause. Shortish and outside off, Ali connected well with the cut shot. Anwar Ali 5(7) Elliott 5(6) Sami 4-0-31-1

18.6 - Sami to Anwar Ali, no run, well, it was an over which went like this - miss, four, miss, miss, miss, miss and miss. And that too in the 19th over. Sami pulled the length back and kept it on off, Ali swung and missed

18.5 - Sami to Anwar Ali, no run, play-and-miss set on a loop. Elliott has had enough, walks down to have a word with Ali. He gives the charge to tonk the length delivery, but misses the important thing - to connect

18.4 - Sami to Anwar Ali, no run, he wanted to send this into orbit. Almost did a full 360 while attempting the shot. Sami keeps it full and outside off, Ali swings as hard as possible and only connects with thin air

18.3 - Sami to Anwar Ali, no run, that's an ugly shot. Ali was trying to repeat the previous shot, Sami was clever enough to keep it outside off this time, swing and miss from Ali

18.2 - Sami to Anwar Ali, FOUR, something to cheer for the Quetta fans. They need more of this. Ali was setting himself up for the short of length delivery, Sami obliged, pulled in front of square, right in between deep mid-wicket and long-on

18.1 - Sami to Anwar Ali, no run, Sami sees the batsman give charge, drags the length back, Ali can't force it through the off-side, is beaten on the outside edge

Anwar Ali, right handed bat, comes to the crease

17.4 - Irfan to Sarfraz, out Caught by Dwayne Smith!! Quetta are losing their way. Fourth wicket in succession. The skipper is the latest to walk back to the dugout. Grant Elliott, right handed bat, comes to the crease

16.3 - Sami to Ahmed Shehzad, out Caught by Badree!! Sami has his man. Brought in to take a wicket and he responds. Wasim Akram is smiling and applauding. The slower delivery on off, Shehzad shuffles across, kneels down and scoops it to short fine, nowhere close to the middle and Badree takes a dolly. A top knock comes to an end. Shehzad has also got a few pointers for the incoming Elliott. Ahmed Shehzad c Badree b Sami 64(39) [4s-9 6s-1]

Sami to Ahmed Shehzad, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

Sarfraz Ahmed, right handed bat, comes to the crease

15.4 - Badree to Mohammad Nawaz, out Bowled!! Badree has the last laugh. That's the reason he is the No. 1 bowler in T20Is. The slider which is pushed through, Nawaz misjudged the length, went back to cut, was beaten for pace and the off-stump takes a hammering. Mohammad Nawaz b Badree 7(5) [6s-1]

Badree to Mohammad Nawaz, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

15.3 - Badree to Mohammad Nawaz, SIX, Nawaz has had enough of Badree. Decides to give the charge, Badree does him a favour by tossing it up, Nawaz gets underneath the delivery and lofts it over the long-on fence

14.6 - A Russell to Ahmed Shehzad, FOUR, that's a terrific shot. Yorker goes wrong for Russell, a low full toss on middle, Shehzad moves across his stumps, bends low and flicks it neatly behind square, fine leg runs across and dives, but all in vain

14.5 - A Russell to Ahmed Shehzad, FOUR, fifty for Shehzad. Off comes the helmet and a kiss on the crest. Sir Viv Richards is on his feet applauding. Short delivery on off, Shehzad shuffles across, hops on one leg and pulls it over square leg, no one in the deep to stop that

14.4 - A Russell to Mohammad Nawaz, 1 run, how fast is Russell? Welcomes the new batsman with a quick short delivery, Nawaz is taken aback, fends it to the off-side, was in the air and Russell got there on the bounce, fires a throw at the bowler's end, but instead hits Nawaz

Mohammad Nawaz, left handed bat, comes to the crease

14.3 - A Russell to Sangakkara, out Caught by Imran Khalid!! He's gone. But has done his job. Has taken the team out of a precarious situation and put them ahead. The United dugout is a bundle of joy. Dean Jones is very happy. The slower delivery on middle, Sangakkara makes room to go downtown, doesn't middle it all that well, holes out at long-on. A fine knock comes to an end. Sangakkara c Imran Khalid b A Russell 55(32) [4s-7 6s-2]

A Russell to Sangakkara, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

A wave of the bat to acknowledge the applause from the crowd. Coming to the ball, it was not a bad delivery by any means, back of a length around off, Sangakkara stands tall and punches it on the rise, hit it in the air and cleared the long-off fence for a maximum

13.5 - Dwayne Smith to Sangakkara, no run, once more gives the charge and Smith slants it well wide of off, Sangakkara can't reach it

13.4 - Dwayne Smith to Sangakkara, FOUR, Sangakkara is on a roll now. The Quetta flags are flying high in the crowd. He shimmied down and Smith shortened the length, Sanga adjusted and slapped it over extra cover, no need to run for those

Sangakkara 20(18) Ahmed Shehzad 39(27) Irfan 3-0-20-1

10.6 - Irfan to Sangakkara, FOUR, Irfan is pleading with the umpire for LBW. The umpire thinks otherwise, signals it as runs. Full and curling in, Sangakkara goes for the expansive drive, didn't account for the swing and there was a gap. Whether it hit the bat or pad, need a replay to confirm

So, that's curtains on this edition of the Pakistan Super League. A big congratulations to PCB for organizing a cricket carnival that provides a global ramp for the young Pakistani brigade whilst letting a few Pakistani cricket folklores tunnel through to us. We hope that PSL has patented this slice of your cricketing calendar and let's hope that the league returns bigger and better next year, to entertain and inspire like it has done across 24 matches this season. On that positive note, it's cheers and goodbye from Pratyush Sinha on behalf of Akshay Maanay, Mani, Sreenivas and the entire team. Ta-ta.

Misbah-ul-Haq lifts the glittering PSL trophy and the glitter-guns shoot celebrations into the air. Team gathers around and they flash Vs as they pose with the trophy in front of a board that reads "CHAMPIONS"

Misbah-ul-Haq: We should call Saeed Ajmal (joking about the prize money). Team delivered a thoroughly professional performance. 170+ is a good total but Haddin and Smith did well. Haddin's was a special innings. We decided that we will hit one four every over and didn't want to lose more than two wickets. Bowlers came back to stop the runs to under 200 which looked likely. Sometimes luck is needed in the final. All our players have performed internationally and they have responded when it was needed. Azhar Mehmood, Khalid Latif..everyone did their jobs perfectly. I have never experienced anything like this before. We waited for this for 3 years and having played the T20 domestic tournament in Pakistan, I knew that it'd do well. Hats off to PCB for organizing this outside of Pakistan. Credit to the players and the crowd, some of whom came from Pakistan. I have played so many leagues and everyone is praising the level of cricket. I think Saeed Ajmal owns the larger share of the prize money (laughs). Thanks to the owners for trusting me and making me the captain. Thanks to all the supporters and all of them are a part of this victory.

Sarfraz Ahmed: Congrats to Islamabad on playing good cricket. We tried and we got the runs we wanted. Today was their day but that catch if taken (the Anwar Ali drop) could have changed the game. The best thing is that the crowd came in to watch cricket and hopefully we get more matches next year. Now we'll prepare for the Asia Cup. Got a lot to learn and if given a responsibility in the future, I'll be happy to take it.

Dwayne Smith: I was a little disappointed in the last game. This was a good pitch and I played well. I had the experience and I backed myself. It's a very good group. I left home and I still feel at home. I had said that this team is going to win it. The bowlers from Pakistan are very good and hope the league flourishes.

Dwayne Smith is the Man of the Match for his 51-ball 73

Umar Akmal gets awards for being the best fielder and the best batsman of the PSL with the highest number of runs to his name. Andre Russell gets an award for being the highest wicket-taker.

Presentations are on. Be patient because the presentation party is a queue of people with clout. They are mouthing their humble opinions on the significance of PSL. Quite a listen and it's being met with lots of applause. You know when a moment's historic, don't you? This is one. Najam Sethi says that he'll take the league to Pakistan very soon.

Kevin Pietersen is that forever-forlorn bridesmaid tonight. Three crammed chances to win a final and he's lost it all - Ram Slam, Big Bash and now PSL. Now that's an unwanted hat-trick. No third time lucky for him.

Wasim Akram: We are thrilled and I would like to thank all the supporters back home. I would like to thank Deano as well. We peaked at the right time. T20 was supposedly called a young man's game, but experience is needed and you saw that today from Smith and Haddin. This is just the beginning and it is going to get better and better (referring to the PSL).

Dean Jones: He's (Akram) the greatest of all time. It is not just the older guys, the younger guys are learning from the seniors on how to play in crunch situations. It will keep them in good shape for the Asia Cup and World T20. Each and everyone has performed at a certain point of time. Our bench strength was also good and we had the belief that we could go the distance.

Brad Haddin: The tournament kept getting better and better for us. This group of guys deserved to win the competition. I am just enjoying and this has been a great tournament. Dean (Jones) and Wasim (Akram) deserve a lot of credit. The seniors guys needed to rise to the occasion and that's what we were able to do. Sami was great with the ball.

What a match this has been! Not as well fought as you would have wanted but discount that. This was historic. Quetta Gladiators had an impressive total on the board and it might even be argued as intimidating giving the occasion. Shehzad and Sangakkara piled up breezy half-centuries to pep the total up to 174. In reply, Islamabad United won over the nerve-maze and the openers jetted off their team to a start. Smith, resembling a clogged misfiring cannon last night, took charge today with a 51-ball 73. He perished in the 16th over to invite hopes of a Quetta revival but Haddin waterjugged all that with a 39-ball 61 inundation. Khalid Latif perished late and against the flow of the game but Misbah walked in, tucked a single away and Faulkner'd his way to a win.

Lots of cameras on the ground to snap and album these moments. Players oblige and Haddin's leading the hug-charity. Is getting hold of everyone and letting out a warm embrace. A lap-of-honour from the players, with Irfan jumping like a kid at a candy shop. Players wave, throw their caps to the cheering crowd. Okay, I can't stop looking at Irfan and his 7-feet height just makes him stand out. Where's Misbah? Meanwhile, Pakistan's flag makes an appearance on the ground. Two players catch hold of it, jog and the rest of the team parades behind.

And Islamabad United players gang up, form a huddle and jump for joy. Tight huddle, lots of cheering and lots of pats on the shoulder. What a historic moment. Years down the line, when history books will roar about a league that potentially changed Pakistan's cricket, Islamabad United will be the forerunners to take away the glory-tiara. And you know how big a win this is when you see Irfan lift Dean Jones in his arms and shake him up like your protein shake cuppa. Then drops him on the ground and lets out a laugh. Dean Jones seemed embarrassed and hurt, from the lap-up celebration and from the mighty fall.

18.4 - Anwar Ali to Misbah, 1 run, and there's the victory. Islamabad United win the maiden PSL title. And the captain takes them there. All destiny. Flicks one off the pads and runs to historic glory
