Welcome back... Thanks to the Rayudu-Binny partnership, India were able to post a 250+ score. Can the bowlers now come to the party and defend the total? We'll soon find out as the Indians make their way out to the middle. Sibanda and Chibhabha are the opening batsmen for the hosts. The former will take strike first up. Bhuvi to start off proceedings. He has a couple of slips in place. Here we go...
In the process, Rayudu recorded his second ODI hundred, while Binny registered his maiden ODI fifty. The 160-run record stand for the 6th wicket has helped India get to a competitive total. Chamu Chibhabha, with figures of 10-2-25-2, was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts. The pitch is not all that easy to bat on and the run chase is going to be interesting. Join us back at 13:15 local for all the action.
Murali Vijay, Manoj Tiwary, Robin Uthappa and Kedar Jadhav, who were making a comeback into the ODI side failed miserably as they managed scores of 1, 2, 0 and 5 respectively. Stuart Binny joined Rayudu at the crease and played sensibly before the duo took the attack to the bowlers. This was the first time they batted together in ODIs and they registered a hundred partnership.
After being asked to bat first, India did not get off to the best of starts as Vijay edged Vitori to second slip. Rahane and Rayudu then steadied the innings with a fifty partnership, but the former threw it away soon after as Masakadza took a sharp catch at first slip. Soon, from 60/1, India slumped to 87/5 as Zimbabwe bowled a tight line.

So that concludes proceedings from us. We had a cracking game today. Let's hope that we have another cracking encounter on Sunday. India are 1-0 up in the series and the second ODI is a must-win game for Zimbabwe to keep the series alive. Looking forward to your company then, goodbye!
Rayudu: "It was very tough to bat in the morning. Me and Ajju (Rahane) were batting well till he got out. I knew that one had to bat through and I am happy that I took the responsibility. I was constantly telling Binny to hold back because we couldn't lose wickets at that stage. He batted brilliantly. Contributing to the team is more important than scoring a hundred."
Ambati Rayudu is the Man of the Match for his unbeaten 133-ball 124
Rahane: "Very happy with the way we played. Rayudu batted really well, it wasn't easy to bat at the start. They bowled well as well. We knew that 255 was a good score and the credit goes to the bowlers as well. Harbhajan Singh was good and so was Axar Patel. I was trying to be calm during the last few overs, but I was very nervous inside."
Chigumbura: "It's disappointing to lose a game after working so hard. We learnt that it is not over until it's over, hopefully we can turn up good for the next game. We lost wickets in groups and that's what cost us today. It's always good to score runs and hopefully I can carry on and win games for Zimbabwe."
With Graeme Cremer batting sensibly at the other end, Chigumbura took the onus of scoring to himself - bringing up his 19th ODI fifty in the process. He continued to grow strong and rattled India - pressure told on the visitors, both with the ball as well as on the field. Kulkarni went for 13 runs in the 47th over, Bhuvneshwar was taken for 14 in the 48th and suddenly - Zimbabwe were the favourites to romp home. Dhawal made up somewhat in the 49th over - going for 8 runs and scalping Cremer - for a well made 27. 10 runs were needed from the final over, but Bhuvneshwar just about kept his nerves intact. It was a frustrating finish for Chigumbura, who has now endured two heartbreaking losses despite scoring hundreds in consecutive matches.
A brave effort from Elton Chigumbura but the hosts have just fallen short of India's 255 by 4 runs. The Indian bowling was a mixture of good and shabby. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was outstanding and he received good support from Stuart Binny and Axar Patel. On the other hand, Dhawal Kulkarni and Harbhajan Singh were not penetrative, although the former held his nerve towards the end. Skipper, Elton Chigumbura, was sensational. While the rest of the batsmen failed to come to terms with the two paced nature of the pitch, he seemed to be batting on a different planet altogether. There were useful contributions from Hamilton Masakadza (34) and Sikandar Raza (47), but the chase looked all but over when the sixth wicket fell at 160.
49.6 -
Bhuvneshwar to Chigumbura, 1 run, India have snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. Disappointing end for Zimbabwe. Chigumbura's both ODI hundreds have now resulted in defeats, which is very sad to know. He took the risk of not taking a run earlier but the ploy didn't work. Bhuvi held his nerve and got the yorker right when needed and Chigumbura could only drive it along the ground to long-on
49.5 -
Bhuvneshwar to Chigumbura, no run, driven straight to cover. Oh dear! This is not good for Zimbabwe, two dots and they need six off the last ball. Chigumbura drove that very hard but picked out the fielder to perfection
49.4 -
Bhuvneshwar to Chigumbura, no run, full toss, not hit well, goes on the bounce to long-off. Oh he's not taken a run. How crucial is this going to be?
