Aaron Phangiso, who was reported for a suspected illegal bowling action by the match officials in last week’s Momentum One-Day Cup play-off match between the Highveld Lions and the Warriors, has been suspended from bowling in domestic cricket by the International Cricket Council.
The South African left-arm spinner underwent an independent assessment in Pretoria last Friday. His bowling action was found to be illegal, where all of his deliveries exceeded the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the regulations.
Cricket South Africa confirmed that Phangiso would not be selected for the first two home T20Is against Australia, starting on Friday. He will stay with the squad and work on his action with the spin bowling coach, Claude Henderson.
Phangiso will undergo a second round of independent tests next Monday. He will be allowed to play the last T20 against Australia if he clears the test.
