Russell Domingo has confirmed that he has reapplied to be South Africa’s coach when his contract expires in August. 

Domingo also outlined certain factors he considered before reapplying for the role before the deadline on June 16,

“

I have forwarded my application form and I have gone through an interview. No.1, family life, which is important. No.2, the performance of the team, which is obviously important. And then whether you feel you're the right guy to take the team forward, whether the team's showing signs of improvement in all formats

”

There were speculations that he won’t seek a contract extension after CSA said they were going to go through the whole new recruitment process for the position.

When Domingo was appointed as the coach his side was at the top of Tests rankings but then he lost several senior players and his team slipped down to 7th position in Tests. He resurrected the team to No. 2 position. He was the only coach under whom South Africa won their only World Cup Knockout match in 2015.
