Graham Ford steps down as Sri Lankan head coach

Ford has quit his job as the Sri Lankan head coach after a disappointing Champions Trophy and just before the Zimbabwe series.

Ford was the head coach of Sri Lanka back in 2012 till 2014. He became the coach once again in February last year for a period of 15 months. Graham Ford became the head coach just at the right time for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka Cricket President said,

We have to thank Fordy for his invaluable contribution to Sri Lanka cricket. He joined us at a time where we were quoted by the ICC as being on the 'verge of suspension' and at a time where things were volatile and uncertain, Ford had faith in us & has given us his fullest support.

Sri Lanka's performance has been inconsistent as they lost their first ever Test series against Bangladesh and they were whitewashed in Tests and ODIs by South Africa. However, they whitewashed the Aussies in the Test series. This was all under Graham ford.

Graham Ford said,

It's been a privilege to work with these talented young men over the past 15 months. Sri Lanka has grown on me, and although we've made the decision to part ways where coaching is concerned, she will always have a little piece of my heart.

The fielding coach of Sri Lanka, Nic Pothas has been given the responsiblities for the series against Zimbabwe.
