Mushfiqur Rahim has been asked to give up wicketkeeping and play as a specialist batsman in the upcoming Tests against Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh’s manager Khaled Mahmud confirmed that the coach and himself have asked Mushfiqur to give up wicketkeeping after his poor performance behind the wickets in recent matches.

He said,

The coach (Chandika Hathurusingha) and I have informed Mushfiqur officially. He is the best batsman in the team. He is in such form that we believe he will be able to give more to the team, which is why he will bat at No. 4 and will not be keeping wickets. Mushfiqur has taken the decision positively, which is the best part.

”

Liton Das, the other specialist wicketkeeper will keep wickets henceforth.
