England bowlers Stuart Broad and James Anderson have been ruled out of the remainder of the season due to injuries.
Although neither of them were named in the England ODI squad, both were set to play for their respective counties Nottinghamshire and Lancashire respectively.
ECB released a statement which said,
“
Anderson requires ongoing rehabilitation of his right shoulder and Broad, who last played in the NatWest T20 Finals Day for Nottinghamshire last week, is recovering from an ankle problem.
”
The statement further said, “Both players have managed their injuries through the summer. A break from cricket is needed to best prepare the Test opening bowling pair for England's winter campaign that begins this October in Bangladesh.”
Stuart Broad was recently signed by Hobart Hurricanes of the Big Bash League in an attempt to revive his limited series career.
The ECB also announced that Jonny Bairstow was to be released from the ODI squad to play for Yorkshire in Sunday's Royal London semi-final against Surrey.
