BCCI unhappy with FIFA

Reports by investigative journalists have linked FIFA leadership with rapaciousness, corruption, bribery, and alleged vote-rigging with regards to the "election" of FIFA President Sepp Blatter, and the organization's decision to award the right to host the 2018 and 2022 World Cups to Russia and Qatar respectively.

These allegations culminated with the indictments of nine high-ranking FIFA officials and five corporate executives by the United States Attorney on charges including racketeering, wire fraud, and money laundering.

On 27 May 2015, several of these officials were taken into custody for questioning by Swiss authorities, who were launching a simultaneous, but separate criminal investigation into how the organization awarded the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

In another part of the world, i.e. India, the BCCI is very unhappy with these emerging reports and investigations. Nearing a successful completion of the eighth edition of the IPL, the BCCI was expecting a huge controversy to hit them and the IPL, the way it has always hit them during the previous editions.

Sadly for the BCCI officials, nothing came up. The officials were in complete readiness for such an event to occur. More so, there are reports that a few newly elected BCCI officials were very much in the process of gearing up for such allegations to be levelled against them, as this might be their only chance in the limelight.

Top BCCI executives even bought costly Armani's to suit-up for the humongous number of press conferences they expected to face. But all of this is now just a distant dream.

With FIFA starring in all the news headlines, these BCCI officials feel that FIFA have unrightfully stolen their thunder, lightning, and other meteorological phenomena. They even plan to protest outside the Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata, India’s only glory in Football.

Nine FIFA officials were indicted! Nine! Can you believe that?

- One of the BCCI executives, surprised at the number of people involved.

He further added -

Here in India, only Shrini takes all the credit and the fame. We are not even properly covered by the media in such scams.

Another official added –

Last year, I tried to get my Son-in-law in this fixing and betting mess. But Shrini bluntly did not allow it. He wants all the fame for himself and his family. He should learn something from FIFA.

Finally, reports also suggest that BCCI plans to organize few matches in countries like Qatar to get some global recognition of their deeds.
