When, in 1969, Bill Lawry, in the middle of the match decided to make Keith Stackpole the opening batsman, he didn't have a clue behind that.
There was a bit of time to bat out before lunch on day two of the match and Stackpole even thought that Lawry would have thought of him as a lunchwatchman!
Stacky did well and never looked back.
