The 'labourer' from Pakistan

South Australia had a strong batting line-up in 1972/73 and a very strong team spirit.
Many thought that a young local batsman should have been given the nod in place of Younis Ahmed, an overseas man who was unproven at Test level.
People were more surprised and perhaps agitated when they came to know that Younis was going to be paid a dollar for each run he made for South Australia.
Greg Chappell summed up the team's sentiment pretty well:
" A definite case of unskilled labour."
