Larwood v Rhodes
|
|
Wilfred Rhodes was batting against Harold Larwood. Rhodes was hit on the foot by a fast yorker. He sat down and removed his pad, sock and boot. Then he massaged the bruise for a while. Then he replaced pad, sock and boot and resumed his batting position.
Larwood waited all this while. Now he casually asked the umpire, "How's that?"
The umpire turned to Rhodes and said, "Wilfred, can you walk?"
"I am all right.", said Rhodes.
"Then start walking to the pavilion- you're out!", said the umpire.
