Dennis Lillee greeting The Queen

During their 1972 Ashes campaign, the Australian team visited the Buckingham Palace.

The captain introduced the Queen to the players. Another member did the same for the Duke. They said, "Your majesty, this is ...." .

It all went well until they reached Lillee who replied, "Good day!"

The embarrassed captain somehow went through to the next man in line, only to find him smiling in front of the Queen! That was Rod Marsh.

When the Royal couple moved off, the captain went over to the one who did the introduction for the Duke and said, "You wouldn't want to know what Dennis said to the Queen."

The other man gritted his teeth, "I suppose it was good day, exactly the same as he said to the Duke."
