Well played, lad

While going to the county grounds for trial, young Cyril Washbrook came across the great Sydney Barnes.
Seeing Washbrook's huge bag, Barnes asked what he did: batting or bowling. Washbrook replied that he was a batsman. Barnes said that there was no chance for him in the county trials because they only wanted bowlers.
After Wasdhbrook scored his first century in First Class cricket, Barnes came to the dressing room, shook his hands, and said, "Well played."
