Thinking about four day Tests in 1939

I am sure none of the ICC guys considered the follwing statement while making the decision last year but this was a great cricketer saying this to another great cricketer.
Len Hutton to Wally Hammond at the end of the Timelesss Test in Durban in 1939:
"Four days is plenty for a Test match, skipper. Convinced of it."
