Phew, that was really quick. Could have been much shorter had the fielders held onto their catches. As many as three chances went down begging today. The Indian bowlers more than made up for their lacklustre performance in the previous game, piercing through the Zimbabwean innings at regular intervals to keep them down to the lowest total ever in T20s on this ground. Barinder Sran (4-0-10-4) finishing with the best figures ever by an Indian on debut and Jasprit Bumrah (4-0-11-3) bowled hostile spells and were well supported by some ill-advised slogging by the hosts. That's a wrap of this one-sided yet entertaining game of T20 cricket. After a heart-breaking loss in the first T20I, India came back strong, bowlers in particular, to keep the series alive. MSD: "It was a big victory. I think the bowlers started well and personally I was a little worried as we are playing third straight game on the same pitch. I felt there might be something worrying about the pitch that's why I wanted to bat first. I emphasized we needed to run hard, push the fielders and in a shorter format it's always important to sneak in those quick runs. Even in Test matches that's the key. The fielders also backed up well as the bowlers did a great job in the initial few overs."
Cremer: "We started well but we lost wickets at regular intervals, just couldn't get going. It was disappointing, we thought the pitch misbehaved a bit but getting all out for 99 isn't good enough. We still have one more game to go. Hoping for the best."
The chief architects were the seamers once again with Barinder Sran and Jasprit Bumrah puncturing the top-order and restricting them to a score well below what they would have liked. So, that sets us up perfectly for the final in a couple of days, with both teams in with a chance to lay their hands on the trophy.
It took all of thirteen overs for the Indian openers to dust off the target. Another performance bearing the ghost of the One-Day series, where the Zimbabwean batsmen were skittled out by the Indian seamers and then the Indian openers stamped their authority to take the team home without a fuss.
