West Indies have done magnificently well to take the final three English wickets for just 17 runs. Taylor was the star of the show today as he picked up all the three wickets. If Jordan was strangled down the leg-side, Broad and Anderson were knocked over for pace. Buttler was stranded at the other end and couldn't do much. Now, it is upto the West Indian batsmen to seize the advantage. If they manage to post a big first innings total, West Indies will have a big chance of winning this game, with the pitch deteriorating. Live action is a few minutes

For West Indies, the pacers have bowled well on occasions, but Permaul was very disappointing yesterday. Even though he managed to take the wicket of Root, he proved to be expensive as he gave away 86 runs in his 20 overs. Let's see if he can make some amends today.

They'll now be hoping to take the final three wickets, bowling England out for a modest total. Considering that the pitch is already offering some turn, West Indies would ideally want to put up a big total in the first innings.

706 days since his 25th Test hundred, Alastair Cook reached a much-awaited landmark yesterday, his 26th Test ton. Cook was ecstatic after reaching his ton, but his happiness was short-lived as he soon got out, that too in the final over of the day. Cook's reaction after his fall though trumped his celebrations after his century as he stood his ground in disbelief momentarily.

Earlier in the day, Alastair Cook's decision of opting to bat first backfired when Jonathan Trott fell for a third-ball duck. Jason Holder then dispelled doubts about his fitness with two important wickets. First, he uprooted Gary Ballance's middle-stump and then induced an indeterminate prod from new batsman Ian Bell with a slower delivery to take a sharp catch off his own bowling. In-form batsman Joe Root and Cook added 53 for the fourth wicket before the former fell straight after lunch to Permaul. Cook and Ali then got together for a 98-run union, before Ali was run out as Cook went for a non-existent single. Alastair Cook's dismissal in the final over has given West Indies the edge at the end of Day 1. Can they drive home the advantage by bowling England out quickly on the second day? In the final session, Denesh Ramdin inexplicably preferred to bowl his spinners in tandem and allowed Moeen Ali and Cook to milk the bowling by setting defensive fields. By the time Jerome Taylor returned to the attack, Ali had completed his half-century and was able to pick off the pacer's variations with ease. Cook handled Taylor's strategy of bowling full and wide outside off-stump with elan. The duo added 98 for the fifth wicket before a run-out ended Moeen's stay at the crease. Even after Moeen fell, Cook continued to battle away along with Ben Stokes and helped England cross the 200-run mark. Holder and Gabriel bowling with the second new ball toiled hard and the latter was rewarded for his persistence when Stokes played one away from his body and was caught at gully with just four overs left to play in the day. Samuels had Cook in the final over of the day to give West Indies the first day honours.

Alastair Cook battled his way to a Test century, his 26th. He reached the three-figure mark in Test cricket after a gap of 706 days. Playing with oodles of patience and assurance in shot-making, Cook helped England recover from a precarious 38/3 in the first session before falling in the final over of the day for 105 off 266 as West Indies finished the day on a high.

For a moment, Cook stood his ground in disbelief as West Indian players started celebrating. He walks off and soaks in the applause, waves his bat to the crowd. His team-mates too pat him on the back as he makes his way to the dressing room.

Shannon Gabriel was re-introduced into the attack soon after Cook got to his 50 and was duly pulled away for four. Moeen picked up a couple of boundaries off Holder and the pair motored along to their fifty partnership. Lead spinner, Permaul, despite getting rid of Root early in the session, continued to be expensive. With the pitch easing up for batting, England will want these two to carry on for the bulk of the final session to help post a competitive first innings total. West Indies struck early after lunch when Permaul had the well-set Joe Root caught behind for a brisk 33. With the half-century stand ended and the pitch offering some turn, Ramdin had Samuels bowl his off-spinners from the other end. Alastair Cook, in arguably his best form of the tour, maneuvered the field and helped himself to a crucial half-century off 139 balls. Moeen Ali survived a couple of nervy moments against the spinners before settling down against the medium-pace of Holder. Cook, on the other hand, looked largely untroubled. The introduction of Marlon Samuels brought about a slight increase in the scoring rate before Ballance was knocked over by a sharp delivery from Holder. Holder made it two in two overs when he caught and bowled Ian Bell for a duck. In-form Joe Root started briskly and importantly Alastair Cook is still around and England will hope that he converts this start into a big one, having survived the crucial first session. As Jeff Dujon pointed out - There are certain words you don't associate with the Kensington Oval - Dry and Flat. But that's what it was as an unchanged England side opted to bat first in Barbados. The visitors however, took an overly cautious approach to batting in the first session and ended up losing three wickets without adding too much. The West Indian players are standing near the boundary rope, with Curtly Ambrose giving them the pep talk. Trott and Cook make their way out to the middle. Taylor will start the proceedings with the ball. There are two slips and a gully in place.

England currently lead by 68 runs and they will now look to build on this lead. On the other hand, West Indies know that they need to bowl well here as the pitch will offer more assistance to the bowlers in the fourth innings. Can the West Indian bowlers end the day on a high? Or will the English batsmen march on? We will find out in a short while. Stay tuned.

Anderson started off proceedings after tea and soon got the wicket of Permaul. Blackwood, on the other end, kept chipping away with boundaries. Taylor too hit a few lusty blows before Anderson sent him back to take his 17th 5-wicket haul in Test cricket. In the end, Blackwood decided to go after the bowling since he was running out of partners at the other end. After hitting Anderson for a six in the 50th over, he again tried to hit him out of the park but failed to connect that well, with Ali taking a good catch at the boundary to bring an end to the innings.

Ramdin and Blackwood then batted cautiously to take the West Indies total past 100 before Broad had the West Indies skipper edge a full delivery in the channel outside off. With the ball reversing, Ben Stokes joined the party and added the wicket of Jason Holder. Cook then dropped a sharp chance off Darren Bravo but held on to another catch off Anderson's bowling, sending the debutant Shai Hope back to the hut. Anderson picked his third wicket when he set up Marlon Samuels with a series of outswingers before getting one to shape back in and trap the right-hander plumb in front of the stumps. West Indies didn't take long to wrap up the England tail on day 2. Jerome Taylor and Shannon Gabriel opened proceedings with the second new ball on Day 2, after Samuels finished bowling his final four balls of the over from yesterday. Like on Day 1, Taylor struggled with consistency in his bowling lines early on in his spell. Many good deliveries were followed by ones drifting down the leg-side. Eventually, one such ball consumed Chris Jordan, who tickled it to the keeper. Gabriel and Taylor then peppered Stuart Broad with a barrage of short deliveries. England could only add 17 to their overnight score before Taylor knocked over Broad and Anderson off successive deliveries to finish the English innings for 257.

On a pitch that continued to crumble, Ballance and Stokes added 23 runs before Ballance edged one to Bravo at slip, with Permaul picking up his second wicket of the innings. Stokes continued to play a few shots, especially the reverse sweep, while Buttler held the other end. However, the final session proved to be a roller coaster of sorts. From England dominating the proceedings to West Indian bowlers coming back with a bang, this match is heading towards an exciting finish. Brilliant bit of swing bowling from the West Indian pacers saw England losing wickets in a heap. With Permaul picking up Ali's wicket, the Englishmen ended the day with half their side back in the hut.

Blackwood was the only batsman to make a fine contribution to the West Indian total. He top-scored with 85 and the second highest score from a West Indian was a distant 25 made by Shivnarine Chanderpaul. Anderson picked up 6/42, his 17th 5-wicket haul, helping England take a crucial 68-run lead in the first innings. It was upto their batsmen to build on the lead after the bowlers did their job.

Apart from Jermaine Blackwood, all the other batsmen found it tough to get going yesterday. England lost their final three wickets quickly and West Indies came out to bat, hoping to score big on a pitch that is deteriorating quickly. However, their hopes were quashed by the English bowlers as West Indies were bowled out for 189.

On a day in which 18 wickets fell, the most to have fallen on a single day in a Test match in West Indies, the hosts have sneaked ahead thanks to a remarkable comeback in the final session. Earlier in the day, England added only 17 runs to their overnight score of 240/7 as Jerome Taylor ran through the English tail. James Anderson then gave a fitting riposte and ended with figures of 6/42. Only Jermaine Blackwood (85) offered a substantial contribution as West Indies conceded a lead of 68. The first session of play on Day 3 will be crucial for both the teams. If Ben Stokes and Gary Ballance see the first hour through tomorrow morning, England can then take the game away from the hosts. England's plans of pressing home the first innings advantage soon dissipated as Jerome Taylor and Shanon Gabriel produced a probing spell of pace bowling and quickly reduced England to 18/3. Taylor was particularly impressive and snared Trott and Bell with sharp inswingers. Holder added the key wicket of Joe Root and Moeen Ali played on a Permaul delivery to give West Indies momentum going into the third day. England however have a lead of 107 to build on.

James Anderson's 17th five-wicket haul meant England bowled West Indies out in just over two sessions and picked up a crucial 68-run first innings lead. West Indies' innings unravelled soon after tea when Anderson sent back Permaul and Taylor in quick succession. Blackwood struck a couple of meaty blows before becoming the last man to fall after making a valiant 85.
