Due to some technical problems, we are unable to cover live matches on our site and app. We are working on it and will be back soon. Please stay tuned for more.

Mumbai players are in a huddle. They will need some special ploy tonight. Now they disperse. Vijay is waiting near the boundary for his partner, Amla joins him now. Southee has the new ball, Rohit is seen chatting with him. A captain's role becomes so important, he needs to keep talking to the bowlers when there is not a big score on the board. Slip in place

Mumbai have 124 on the board and they have Harbhajan and Krunal Pandya. This is not to suggest that Southee, McClenaghan and Bumrah won't have a part to play. But the outcome of the match will depend on how Mumbai spinners bowl during the middle overs

"We were looking to practice them (death bowling) in the practice sessions. Back-of-the-hand delivery is easy to pick, so working on the cutter. It is a slow track and we were mixing it up. That's what paid off," says a a panting Mohit Sharma

On a tricky wicket, let's see how the strong MUM bowling attack defend this low score of 124. They have all the support they could have hoped for as Vizag is a sea of blue today. An interesting chase on the cards folks.

That brought the destructive pair of Buttler and Pollard together in the 11th over but the former went in the 14th over with the score reading 61/5. Some lusty blows by Pollard and Krunal Pandya in the end brought a faint degree of respectability to the MUM total, as they mustered a rollicking partnership of 42 off just 19 deliveries. Stoinis was outstanding as he removed both these batsmen and took a well deserved four-fer. The other two seamers, Sandeep and Mohit, were outstanding too as they picked up 2 wickets apiece.

It was the worst of starts that MUM could've got. The powerplay yielded just 21 runs at the cost of 2 wickets making it the worst powerplay score in this year's T20 League. The good thing though was that Rohit Sharma still kept one end up and Rana managed to hit a few blows out of the park. But that bit of hope eluded them when Axar removed the MUM skipper in the 9th over. Rana followed him back to the pavilion soon enough.

Over: 20 2 MUM 124/9
Harbhajan 14(10) Bumrah 2(2) Mohit Sharma 4-0-26-2

19.6 - Mohit Sharma to Harbhajan, 1 run, Mumbai finish on 124/9. That's what they have managed after opting to bat. But mind you, this pitch is as lazy as Garfield.. Coming to the ball, a fullish ball on the stumps and a backed-away Bhajji just about manages to club it down to long-on

19.5 - Mohit Sharma to Harbhajan, no run, lovely yorker. Curls in a touch and dips right in front of off-stump. Harbhajan manages to dig it out

19.4 - Mohit Sharma to Harbhajan, SIX, and this time he waited a nanosecond more. Gobbles up the width not with a cut, but with a horizontal bat clobber over deep mid-wicket. Miller was there, looking to reverse cup but finds the ball swooping over him as the momentum took him over the ropes

19.3 - Mohit Sharma to Harbhajan, no run, looked for the big heave-ho and misses. Mohit Sharma is too smart with his slower deliveries

19.2 - Mohit Sharma to Harbhajan, no run, Bumrah wanted the run but where was it? Harbhajan had his front foot planted across the stumps as he made room, saw the back-of-the-hand slower delivery and arrested his shot to a tap to cover. Bumrah showed some urgency but Bhajji turned him down with Vijat lurking around the ball at short cover

19.1 - Mohit Sharma to Bumrah, 1 run, pounded on a back of a length outside off, Bumrah waits and then chips it with an open bat to third man. Came off the top-half of the bat, looked like it was a defeated dab but everything will do now for MUM

Last over. Can MUM bat through?

Over: 19 1 MUM 116/9
Harbhajan 7(5) Bumrah 1(1) Sandeep Sharma 4-0-11-2

18.6 - Sandeep Sharma to Harbhajan, no run, cutter hurled short and wide - so you don't have the pace and you have too much to be overwhelmed with it. Happens so here. Harbhajan looked to flay it with a flat bat through cover, managed a toe-end and Saha shuffled to his right to cut it off

18.5 - Sandeep Sharma to Bumrah, 1 run, brings his open bat down in a jiffy and dabs a single to third man

18.4 - Sandeep Sharma to Harbhajan, 1 run, gets a full toss again and Harbhajan pulls it with a wide stance towards long-on

Jasprit Bumrah, right handed bat, comes to the crease

18.3 - Sandeep Sharma to McClenaghan, out Caught by D Miller!! Sandeep Sharma sticks to a very full length outside off, McClenaghan shimmies out trying to loft it over mid-off. Too full a ball to get under it and pops it off the toe-end to Miller. McClenaghan c D Miller b Sandeep Sharma 4(4) [4s-1]

Sandeep Sharma to McClenaghan, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

18.2 - Sandeep Sharma to McClenaghan, no run, gets a shearing low full toss, dips well outside off and McClenaghan blazes it back. Sandeep uses his left hand to half-stop it

18.1 - Sandeep Sharma to Harbhajan, 1 run, perhaps overpowered it. A full toss. Yes, a full toss and Harbhajan flat-batted it over unmanned mid-off uppishly

Sandeep Sharma [3.0-0-8-1] is back into the attack

Over: 18 0 4 4 MUM 113/8
McClenaghan 4(2) Harbhajan 5(2) Mohit Sharma 3-0-18-2

17.6 - Mohit Sharma to McClenaghan, FOUR, wow. This is deft. Shuffles across with his bat poked in front, allows this low full toss on off to dip and ramps it over short fine leg. The fielder there ducked for cover instead of leaping up to catch it

17.5 - Mohit Sharma to McClenaghan, no run, digs out a yorker to short cover and Mohit Sharma comes running across to fire one at the striker's end. McClenaghan turns around and hurries back in with half a dive. A direct hit and Mitch was gone

17.4 - Mohit Sharma to Harbhajan, 1 run, Amla shuffles across from point and collects this leading edge. Harbhajan wanted it tuck this cutter, was late and hence that

17.3 - Mohit Sharma to Harbhajan, FOUR, and he gets one rightaway! Gets the width and slaps a boundary wide of cover-point

Mitchell McClenaghan, left handed bat, comes to the crease

17.2 - Mohit Sharma to Southee, out Caught by Gurkeerat Singh!! Southee has been cheated on here. Fair decision, not to do with the umpire, but with the slowness of this delivery. Southee assumes it to be a simpleton but boy, it was a slowish delivery from back of the hand. Southee lofts, connects well. Could say that he had read the slower delivery too but the lack of pace off the pitch meant that the ball could only carry as far as long-off. Southee c Gurkeerat Singh b Mohit Sharma 1(3)

Mohit Sharma to Southee, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

17.1 - Mohit Sharma to Southee, no run, high bounce on this length ball, hops back and splices the defence back to Mohit Sharma

Here comes back-of-the-hand king

Over: 17 1 W 0 MUM 104/7
Southee 1(1) Harbhajan 0(0) Stoinis 4-0-15-4

16.6 - Stoinis to Southee, 1 run, Southee needed half a brain to give Stoinis the hat-trick on that ball. Simple full delivery on the pads is sanely tucked to mid-wicket. Now we only have one batsman on nought...with three overs to go

Tim Southee, right handed bat, comes to the crease

16.5 - Stoinis to Pollard, out Bowled!! You know what, the middle order is evolving in reverse gear. "You miss, I hit" now applies to them too. Does to Pollard here certainly. Stoinis aims for the top of off-stump with this cutter, Pollard shimmies out with readymade room, swings but fails to connect. Stoinis is on a hat-trick! Pollard b Stoinis 27(20) [6s-3]

Stoinis to Pollard, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

Harbhajan Singh, right handed bat, comes to the crease

16.4 - Stoinis to Krunal Pandya, out Caught by Axar!! That's perfectly placed to deep mid-wicket. Cutter halfway down, Pandya had to manufacture his own wattage there and fails. Swivels around to pull, top-edges it and now has to walk back. Had the room, had swivelled early but a ramp towards third man might have earned him a longer stay at the crease. Krunal Pandya c Axar b Stoinis 19(12) [4s-1 6s-1]

Stoinis to Krunal Pandya, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

16.3 - Stoinis to Krunal Pandya, 2 runs, gets a back of a length delivery and wields his (Valyrian steel) sword of a bat on the pull. Mistimed through mid-wicket

16.2 - Stoinis to Krunal Pandya, FOUR, 100 up, finally! Tames an attempted yorker length delivery with an open bat and carves it over backward point. Two fielders give the chase, almost coalesce but the ball drops inside the ropes and runs away

16.1 - Stoinis to Krunal Pandya, no run, dabbed uppishly to short third man but drops well short. And the fielder uses his body to stop the ricochet off the turf

Marcus Stoinis [3.0-0-8-2] is back into the attack

Over: 16 1 0 MUM 97/5
Pollard 27(19) Krunal Pandya 13(8) Axar 4-0-30-1

15.6 - Axar to Pollard, SIX, measure the wood there. Measure the wood on Pollard's bat. This was mistimed and this clears the fences comfortably. A slice, can you believe? Wanted to loft over long-on, the turn gets him to slice the loft and the ball still manages to shoot over the fences by a mile

15.5 - Axar to Krunal Pandya, 1 run, gets low and clubs this full delivery to long-on

15.4 - Axar to Krunal Pandya, no run, was looking to sweep it into oblivion. Instead, the ball zips in and raps the pad. Pitching outside leg, I feel, and the appeal was cut down by the umpire

15.3 - Axar to Pollard, 3 runs, speared on leg-stump, Pollard exploits the angle to tickle three runs to fine leg

15.2 - Axar to Krunal Pandya, 1 run, walks into a clip through the vacant mid-on

15.1 - Axar to Krunal Pandya, SIX, yes. Desperation ushers dramatics. And he's inducted it from Pollard. Swipes his bat and deposits the ball over long-on. What a hit!

Axar Patel [3.0-0-13-1] is back into the attack

Over: 15 6 1 MUM 80/5
Pollard 18(17) Krunal Pandya 5(4) Cariappa 4-0-36-0

14.6 - Cariappa to Pollard, SIX, ten thousand thundering typhoons. Has there even been a more carnivorous clip? Was backing away, gets a ball sliding in to cut the room and Pollard just wrists it over long-on nonchalantly

14.5 - Cariappa to Krunal Pandya, 3 runs, that's agile from Sandeep at short third man. Dives across to half-stop this squeeze from Krunal and then sprints back to flick it in with a head-first slide

14.4 - Cariappa to Krunal Pandya, no run, floats it on a fuller length from over the wicket, Pandya chops it onto the side of his thighs and manages to roll it back

Some stoppage in play...

14.3 - Cariappa to Pollard, 1 run, veering into the pads, closes himself with the angle and tickles it to fine leg

14.2 - Cariappa to Pollard, SIX, bazinga! He can bowl the offbreak and legbreak but none effective enough when Pollard swings. Brings the bat down and clobbers it over long-on. Bat speed there, you ask? 143ks

14.1 - Cariappa to Krunal Pandya, 1 run, looped too full on middle to trouble. Pandya waits for the dip and ticks the clip away to mid-wicket

Over: 14 2 0 MUM 63/5
Krunal Pandya 1(1) Pollard 5(14) Stoinis 3-0-8-2

13.6 - Stoinis to Krunal Pandya, 1 run, razors it away to backward square leg with a hop and that will be a time-out!

Gurkeerat points something to Vijay after nearly messing that catch. The floodlights? The spider cam?

13.5 - Stoinis to Pollard, 1 run, banged in shorter, gets his hands higher and taps it to cover-point

13.4 - Stoinis to Pollard, no run, sticks to his front foot stride and cocks his wrists on the forward defence

Krunal Pandya, left handed bat, comes to the crease

13.3 - Stoinis to Buttler, out Caught by Gurkeerat Singh!! One...two...three! Gurkeerat Singh Mann takes it finally and sports a big smile. And this was a very sharp delivery from Stoinis - follows a backing away Buttler with a full ball, the batsman still goes for the lofted drive but was too cramped for room to usher in the power. Mistimed to long-off where Gurkeerat lets the catch pop out the first time, recovers to catch it again but sees himself going over the long-off fence. Then come the acrobatics - throws it in the air as he steps out and hops back in to re-re-repouch it. Buttler c Gurkeerat Singh b Stoinis 9(10) [4s-1]

Stoinis to Buttler, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

13.2 - Stoinis to Pollard, 1 run, swivels on the front foot to pull but mistimes it to deep mid-wicket

13.1 - Stoinis to Pollard, leg byes, FOUR, was there some bat? No. Gets a yucky short of length delivery sliding down, turns around but fails to get the bat on the tickle but the pads are good enough

12.5 - Cariappa to Buttler, 1 run, greets it on the front foot, making room early helped to drive this from middle stump to long-off

12.4 - Cariappa to Pollard, 1 run, gets his bat high, makes for the ball skidding in and pushes it to long-on

Slip drops to short third man

12.3 - Cariappa to Pollard, no run, slides in with the angle to see a sane defence back

12.2 - Cariappa to Pollard, no run, this legbreak turns, Pollard is late to fetch it with a tuck and the under-edge rolls into the leg-side

12.1 - Cariappa to Pollard, no run, fullish legbreak, not much turn to allow a front foot push to mid-off

Buttler 8(8) Pollard 1(5) Axar 3-0-13-1

11.6 - Axar to Buttler, FOUR, will put it as half-deliberate. Sees the arm-ball zip in but the less venom on it allowed Buttler to slide across and eke out an outside edge on his attempted glide to third man. The ball was well wide of the lone slipper and gives him a four

11.5 - Axar to Buttler, no run, connects this reverse alright but couldn't slot it past cover-point

11.4 - Axar to Pollard, 1 run, arm ball helped with the angle round the corner

11.3 - Axar to Pollard, no run, slightly slower and enough turn to eke out an outside edge as Pollard pushed at it. Ball dies well in front of the slip

11.2 - Axar to Pollard, no run, straightens on off-stump, Pollard stays back and bunts it back

11.1 - Axar to Buttler, 1 run, clipped off the pads to deep mid-wicket

10.6 - Stoinis to Pollard, no run, gets forward this time but manages to mistime the defence to the right of Stoinis

10.5 - Stoinis to Pollard, no run, someone tell Pollard that he has a bat! Or knees to duck. Slower bouncer to arrest his shimmy, Pollard does that and loses his brains there. Stood there for the ball to ping his grille and jerks his back in pain and shock

Kieron Pollard, right handed bat, comes to the crease

10.4 - Stoinis to Nitish Rana, out Caught by W Saha!! That's a lovely catch from Saha! Rana looks to punish a full ball with a flogging drive, is defeated by the bounce and ekes out an outside edge that travels back at ultrasonic speed. Saha spots it, was left-footed and rubbers his torso with a dive to pouch it. Nitish Rana c W Saha b Stoinis 25(28) [6s-3]

Stoinis to Nitish Rana, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

10.3 - Stoinis to Buttler, 1 run, this cuts back in a touch, Buttler hops to ride the bounce and manages to keep the inside edge on the pitch en route to square leg

10.2 - Stoinis to Nitish Rana, 1 run, perhaps staying low as Rana crouched with an open-bat and chopped it to cover-point

10.1 - Stoinis to Nitish Rana, no run, smidgen full outside off, Rana has to thrust some power into this drive to point. Can't breach

9.5 - Cariappa to Buttler, no run, this is bowled slow but shoots off the pitch. Buttler hops himself open as he looks to ride the bounce and manages to connect the defence into the off-side

9.4 - Cariappa to Nitish Rana, 1 run, overpitched on the pads and an easy clip through mid-wicket

9.3 - Cariappa to Nitish Rana, no run, and a leading edge almost begets him now! Is early to close his bat, pops the ball back but it drops short of Cariappa

9.2 - Cariappa to Nitish Rana, SIX, wow. Cariappa has been outwitted. Looks to tease Rana by turning it away but Rana was ready. Goes with the turn away and lofts it over extra cover

9.1 - Cariappa to Buttler, 1 run, loops and drifts across to pitch on middle and leg, Buttler clips it to long-on

8.5 - Axar to Rohit, out Bowled!! That's ugly! Axar fires this one on off, gets it to hold a touch as Rohit looks for the cross-batted swipe. 5.5 - Mohit Sharma to Nitish Rana, SIX, that's a poor man's followup delivery! Why on earth would you bowl it short after THAT ball? Still Mohit does and sees a swivelling pull picked up over deep backward square leg

But the ball gets high on him, cuts away more than he anticipated and he ends up chipping it uppishly to the fielder he wanted to clear. Chand c Gurkeerat Singh b Mohit Sharma 0(4)

Mohit Sharma to Chand, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

1.5 - Mohit Sharma to Chand, no run, drags the length back and gets it to seam away just a touch. Scambled seam on a back of a length, zips away and beats Chand's attempted guide to third man

Average first innings score here: 159

1.4 - Mohit Sharma to Chand, no run, full ball curling in on the pads, Unmukt waits for the swing to disappear and then clips it into the leg-side

A short extra cover in place. They expect the pitch to hold up and the drive to go uppishly there

1.4 - Mohit Sharma to Chand, wide, tries to bounce Chand first up but slides the bumper down leg. Chand swivels but it's wide enough to not connect

1.3 - Mohit Sharma to Rohit, 1 run, looks to grope a length ball with flat foot, ekes out an inside edge and skews a single behind square on the leg-side

1.2 - Mohit Sharma to Rohit, no run, gets it straighter to cut Rohit's lean-across room, keeps it on the pads and the batsman utilizes good bounce for a tuck to mid-on

Still no slip

1.1 - Mohit Sharma to Rohit, no run, fuller length but this is far from a poker face outswinger. Swings right from the hand, Rohit leans across and drives it to cover. Rather defensively done

0.6 - Sandeep Sharma to Chand, no run, gets a good first ball. Hint of inswing on it but the ball ricocheted off the pitch well. Chand had a big front foot stride to counter bombs, this was just a tame length ball. Easily done

0.5 - Sandeep Sharma to Rohit, 1 run, keeps it on a length and the outswing gives Rohit the room to crouch across and open his bat. Pipes a single to third man

0.4 - Sandeep Sharma to Rohit, no run, looked slightly slower than the first three balls. Looped from a length, Rohit held back his plonking front foot before plonking it and blocking the ball back

0.3 - Sandeep Sharma to Rohit, no run, tries the outswinger wide of off, fails to get much in the air and Rohit could reach it on his front foot. Stretches out, leans in and caresses it...straight to cover

0.2 - Sandeep Sharma to Rohit, no run, gets it fullish and outside off this time, Rohit bunts back the good bounce on it. Straight bat, high elbow and a firm defence

0.1 - Sandeep Sharma to Rohit, FOUR, that's a lovely ball to start but alas! Gets the inswing going but fails to put the reins on it. Slides it on the pads and Rohit tickles him through a vacant fine leg

Rohit and Chand are at the crease. Rohit is on strike. Sandeep Sharma will open the attack

Time for Mumbai to press the panic button. They are not playing at Wankhede anymore and Vizag just does not behave like their homeground. It is on the slower side and the management will have to strategise keeping that in mind. As far as Punjab are concerned, they have given themselves a bit of hope. But unfortunately, their life is also dependent on how others fare. Never leave your fate in someone else's hand. With this piece of advice, this is Abhishek Chaudhary signing off on behalf of my co-commentator - an ever-smiling - Pratyush Sinha and our superfast scorer Reddy. Good night!

Stoinis (Man of the Match): "Wicket suited my bowling. Not too much but I used change of pace. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise to bat second. We took good singles. It was a team effort for sure. All the bowlers bowled well, tight and got wickets at the start. If we can win the next couple of games, you never know. It has been good, great support staff, enjoying it (on his experience so far in the T20 League)."

Vijay: "Definitely as a group we were playing good cricket. Just needed to sit and talk sense into our heads. The wicket was on the slower side. Everybody was throwing himself out. 140 was a defendable total here, we saw that in the last game. Myself and Saha were talking about that. You never know in this game. Hopefully we can do that (on winning the next three games)."

Rohit: "I thought wicket was not easy. It was sticky, it was not coming onto the bat. Having said that, we should have applied ourselves. 124 was not going to be easy to defend. Lot of credit to Punjab, they stuck to their plans. See, too much talking does not help. Players do understand what needs to be done. We have played two games here, we know the conditions. We know it is not a high scoring ground. HYD defended 136 here. I guess 140 is a good score here. We were in a similar situation last year also. Hopefully, we will regroup from here and put up a performance day after tomorrow."

And as we wait for the presentation ceremony, here's a stat. Maxwell fans might want to skip it. 3rd duck for Maxwell this T20 League, most along with Shreyas Iyer who also has 3.

It panned out quite like the inaugural match of T20 League 2016. In both the matches Rohit won the toss and elected to bat first and in both the matches his side's batting came a cropper. It looked as if they might make a fight out of it after they got Amla in the first over but an outstanding century partnership between Vijay and Saha stubbed out any such hopes for MUM. So, PUN with all but a mathematical chance to qualify have managed to tilt the tables just a bit and made MUM's journey ahead a bit tougher. Now MUM needs to win the next two games straight for a shot at the play-offs.
