Hello again! Aaron Finch who has been in red-hot-form is out in the middle. Guess who's at the other end! It's B-Mac. Arguably the best opening pair in this T20 League? Tim Southee with the new nut, two slips in place. Time for some ball-rolling action....

Gujarat might be playing their first T20 League but it comprise of some of the names who have plied their trade here in the past. If they continue the way they have so far, they have more than a decent chance to make it three in three. However, in the last 5 overs or so, the momentum might have swung in the host's favour. Chase in a while from now...

The pitch did not have any demons. The ground was small and the crowd behind them. Yet Mumbai spoiled all what they had in their favour to cede the advantage to Gujarat. If it was not for some late hitting from senior Pandya and Southee, Mumbai would have had to settle for a below par total. Mumbai's top order's mediocrity cannot take the sheen off Gujarat's superb bowling, who were at it with the word go.

Krunal Pandya 20(11) McClenaghan 0(0) Dwayne Bravo 4-0-39-1

19.6 - Dwayne Bravo to Krunal Pandya, 2 runs, Akshdeep Nath shows great reflexes to save a few runs for his team there. Fullish and on the stumps, Pandya heaves it across the line. In fact, it was a slower one. Akshdeep leaps in the air and with his left-hand looks to pouch the catch, but loses his balance. He still shows great presence of mind to get the ball back into play and another fielder fires in a throw at the batsman's end. The pair collect a couple of runs. On the back of Krunal Pandya and Southee's pyrotechnics, MUM have at least got a fighting total on the board. MUM's pacers now have to generate swing with the new ball for them to have any chance of winning this game

Mitchell McClenaghan, left handed bat, comes to the crease

19.5 - Dwayne Bravo to Southee, out Southee Run Out!! Sharp work by Bravo there as he effects a run-out. Another fantastic slower one from Bravo, Southee is beaten all ends up. However, he looks to steal a bye. Bravo though, collects the ball and fires in a direct-hit at the stumps and Southee finds himself well short of the crease. Southee run out (D Karthik/Dwayne Bravo) 25(11) [4s-1 6s-2]

Dwayne Bravo to Southee, THAT'S OUT!! Run Out!!

19.4 - Dwayne Bravo to Southee, SIX, off pace delivery and just outside off, Southee lands a mighty blow by lofting it straight down the ground for a maximum

19.3 - Dwayne Bravo to Southee, FOUR, Southee makes room, but Bravo bowls it outside off with a slower one, Southee slashes it over short third man for a boundary

19.2 - Dwayne Bravo to Krunal Pandya, 1 run, Krunal tucks this very full delivery to deep backward square leg. It was a slower one from Bravo

19.1 - Dwayne Bravo to Southee, 1 run, full and straight, Southee bunts it to down to long-off

Krunal Pandya 17(9) Southee 14(7) Faulkner 4-0-40-1

18.6 - Faulkner to Krunal Pandya, no run, the yorker from Faulkner, Krunal digs it out. He looks to steal a single, but is sent back.

18.5 - Faulkner to Krunal Pandya, FOUR, Krunal will take that. Fuller length delivery and just outside off, Krunal aims to heave it across the line and gets a thickish outside edge to the third man boundary

18.5 - Faulkner to Southee, 2 wides, the slower one that goes wrong, Southee can't reach it and called as a wide

18.4 - Faulkner to Krunal Pandya, 1 run, a tad fuller and just outside off, Krunal slaps it to long-off

18.3 - Faulkner to Southee, 1 run, length ball from Faulkner, clubbed to deep mid-wicket

18.2 - Faulkner to Southee, 2 runs, Southee goes for the glory shot to a slower one and gets it off the bottom of the bat. Luckily for him, it lands between two fielders who ran from long-off and long-on, respectively

18.2 - Faulkner to Southee, no ball, I think, Faulkner was unlucky there. It is called as a no-ball, but a bit of his front foot seemed to be behind the line. The wide yorker, Southee can't reach it. We have a free-hit in place now

18.1 - Faulkner to Southee, SIX, that was clouted by Southee. That was a mighty blow by him. We have seen it before as even on his Test debut, Southee clobbered the English pacers all over the park. Here, he butchers a back of a length delivery over mid-wicket and it cleared the stands with ease

Krunal Pandya 12(6) Southee 5(3) Dwayne Bravo 3-0-25-1

17.6 - Dwayne Bravo to Krunal Pandya, 2 runs, fuller and on the stumps, Krunal agan clubs it to long-on and sprints across for a couple

17.5 - Dwayne Bravo to Krunal Pandya, FOUR, innovative batting by Krunal. Krunal takes a step forward and heaves it past the diving short fine fielder and it rolls away to the fence. Bravo rolled his fingers on that delivery

17.5 - Dwayne Bravo to Krunal Pandya, wide, sliding down leg, Krunal misses with his heave, signalled as a wide

17.4 - Dwayne Bravo to Southee, 1 run, the quicker short delivery from Bravo, Southee gets a top-edge on his pull to deep square leg

17.3 - Dwayne Bravo to Southee, 2 runs, very full slower delivery from Bravo, Southee bunts it down to extra cover and hares down for the second run. Despite the fielder at extra cover firing in a throw and effecting a direct-hit at the batsman's end, Southee makes his ground. Rightly given as not out by the third umpire

The TV umpire has been beckoned. I think Southee was safe there at the batsman's end. One can clearly see that he is fine and has made his ground. The third umpire confirms the same

17.2 - Dwayne Bravo to Southee, 2 runs, full and outside off, Southee drills it to sweeper cover for a brace

17.1 - Dwayne Bravo to Krunal Pandya, 1 run, too straight from Bravo, clipped to deep mid-wicket

Tim Southee, right handed bat, comes to the crease

Rayudu 20(19) Krunal Pandya 5(3) Faulkner 3-0-23-1

16.6 - Faulkner to Rayudu, out Bowled!! Another one has been chugged down. Faulkner too gets amongst the wickets. From round the wicket, Faulkner bowls the slower one and on the stumps, Rayudu shuffles across too much in an attempt to butcher it across the line. He connects with thin air and his middle-stump takes a beating. Rayudu b Faulkner 20(19) [6s-1]

Faulkner to Rayudu, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

16.5 - Faulkner to Krunal Pandya, 1 run, shorter in length, Krunal mistimes the heave to long-on

16.4 - Faulkner to Krunal Pandya, FOUR, deft touch from Krunal. He hangs back in the crease, opens the bat face and steers it to past the keeper, who dives to his left, but can't succeed in his endeavour

16.3 - Faulkner to Rayudu, 1 run, slower short one from Faulkner, pulled to deep backward square leg

16.2 - Faulkner to Rayudu, 2 runs, from round the wicket, Faulkner uses yet another slower one, Rayudu works it to mid-wicket. Good running between the wickets help the pair to add two more runs to the tally. Pandya loses his bat while looking to pinch another run. No damage done though

16.1 - Faulkner to Rayudu, 2 runs, short of length delivery and just outside off, Rayudu flat-bats it to deep mid-wicket for a brace. There was no power behind that shot

16.1 - Faulkner to Rayudu, no ball, the loopy back of the hand slower one that goes all wrong. It is called as a no-ball for height. We have a free-hit in place now

Krunal Pandya, left handed bat, comes to the crease

Strategic Time-Out in place now.

15.5 - Dwayne Bravo to Harbhajan, out Caught by D Karthik!! Bravo picks up his first scalp of the game. He usually ends up with two or three in every T20 League match. A tad fuller and just outside off, Harbhajan aims for the mighty heave, gets it off the toe-end and an easy catch for the keeper to take. In fact, it was the off-cutter from Bravo. Harbhajan c D Karthik b Dwayne Bravo 8(13) [4s-1]

Dwayne Bravo to Harbhajan, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

15.4 - Dwayne Bravo to Harbhajan, 2 runs, very full and on off-stump, Harbhajan drills it to long-off, where Finch swoops down on the ball quickly and keeps the pair to a couple of runs

15.3 - Dwayne Bravo to Harbhajan, FOUR, this time, Harbhajan makes room and slices a full toss past the short third man fielder. It scurries to the fence

15.2 - Dwayne Bravo to Harbhajan, no run, the quicker short delivery that was bowled outside off, Harbhajan backs away too much and can't reach for it

15.1 - Dwayne Bravo to Harbhajan, no run, that is Bravo's famous in-dipping slower one. Harbhajan does not pick it and almost loses his wicket. However, he ends up getting outside the line of off-stump. As a result, Bravo's appeal for LBW turned down

Phew! That turned out to be a game full of plots and sub-plots, twists and turns. Finch, though, held his nerve and GUJ pipped MUM off the final ball of the match. T20 League 2016 needed a nail-biter and we have got one. I certainly needed an armful of adjectives to describe the slog overs. Tomorrow too it is a double-header. Do join us for all the action. Until next time, goodbye and goodnight

Finch (Man of the Match): I hope so (talking about his injury). I started to cramp right at the end. I just think it is a cramp. It was nice to get us over the finish line. It was nice to take it over till the end and finish the job. Well, Dhawal Kulkarni smashing one over mid-off was great and it took the pressure off. We have not taken wickets with the new ball (in the previous matches). The way Praveen and Dhawal bowled today was fantastic. It was a fantastic win and nice to get three wins in a row."

Raina: Good place to play cricket. Mumbai is a tough team to beat at Wankhede. I thought initially they would get about 130, but they batted well. In a low-scoring game, difficult to chase down 140. The ball was doing a bit. Finch was calm today. Kulkarni batted and bowled well too. Mumbai, though, fought well. When you have Bravo, Tambe, Praveen, Jakati and Co. you always believe. Finch looks good (talking about his injury). It must be a cramp. We still have another 4-5 days now. He will definitely recover."

Rohit Sharma: "I think we didn't put enough runs on the board. I don't think we can afford to do that. I think 144 was always going to be a difficult target to defend. Our bowlers did well. We though, have to accept (this defeat) and move forward. We just didn't bat well and didn't put enough runs on the board. The dew came much later and it stopped swinging. If we had got 160 runs, we could have been in the game. Mitchell McClenaghan bowled great. The crowd has always been great. We need to bat well. It has been twice that we have let ourselves down (in this year's T20 League). We need to put runs on the board to defend. It starts from the top. If we lose 3-4 wickets up front, it becomes difficult. They have very good bowlers. Krunal and Southee though, kept us in the game."

Brilliant from Mumbai anyway. They got the momentum courtesy some late onslaught from Southee and Krunal Pandya and cashed in on it to make the target look bigger that what it was in real. Credit must go to McClenaghan who bowled an exceptional penultimate over to push the visitors right on the brink of an embarrassing loss. But all the effort proved to be just short in front of Finchy's heroics. What a game! T20 League needed that close finish.

Make that three in three for Gujarat. After McCullum's early departure, Finch and Raina steadied the run-chase and stitched a 53-run partnership for the second wicket. The Aussie continued his good run in this tournament, notching up his third consecutive fifty. Raina looked in ominous touch but threw his wicket cheaply. Mumbai clawed their way back into the game by taking a couple of wickets in the middle overs. But Finch took centerstage and stayed till the end to hand Gujarat a thrilling victory.

Finch 67(54) D Kulkarni 6(3) Bumrah 4-0-32-2

19.6 - Bumrah to Finch, FOUR, Finch has done it for GUJ. He removes his helmet and holds his arms aloft after piloting GUJ to their third successive win. He was ice-cool throughout the innings. The short delivery and just outside off, Finch pulls it to the mid-wicket fence. Raina looks like a relieved man as he comes out to the middle. Finch is getting hugs from GUJ's players. Well, on the other hand, I can take a breather

19.5 - Bumrah to Finch, 2 runs, scores are level now. Are we in for a super-over? Finch drills a low full toss to Pollard, who swoops down on the ball quickly and fires in a throw at the non-striker's end. The bowler takes the bails off, but Kulkarni was in. The TV umpire confirms the same. Back in the dug-out, Punter is wondering what is going on. Rohit is having a chat with the bowler. Finch is taking his time to compose himself for the final ball. The fingernails must be getting chomped in both camps. T20 League 2016 needed this sort of a match

19.4 - Bumrah to D Kulkarni, 1 run, the low full toss from Bumrah, drilled down to long-on.

19.3 - Bumrah to D Kulkarni, FOUR, has that boundary decided the outcome of the match? Very full and on off-stump, Kulkarni drills it to the long-off fence. Dhawal is now having a chat with Finch

19.2 - Bumrah to Finch, 1 run, Finch looks for the lap sweep, but gets an inside edge past the man at short fine for a single. The crowd is in a tizzy. They are loving this match for sure

19.1 - Bumrah to Finch, 2 runs, superb piece of fielding at deep mid-wicket, Finch works a low full toss to deep mid-wicket, where the fielder runs around the boundary rope and puts in a dive to his left to save a couple of runs. Remember, a great piece of fielding can turn these sort of games on its head

17.4 - Bumrah to Faulkner, FOUR, much needed boundary for Gujarat, this was full and wide, almost a wide full toss, Faulkner reached out for the drive, gets a thick edge that split the gap between backward point and short third man

A touch of width on offer, Finch stays back and cuts it past the diving backward point fielder and the ball zooms away to the fence. 3.1 - McClenaghan to Finch, leg byes, 1 run, poor first ball from Mitch McClenaghan, but he gets away with that. Short and down leg, Finch fails to lay bat on the leg glance, off the thigh pad and wide of the keeper

Mitchell McClenaghan, left-arm fast medium, comes into the attack

Raina 2(3) Finch 6(5) Bumrah 1-0-4-1

1.6 - Bumrah to Raina, no run, very full and on leg-stump, Raina flicks towards backward square but it was a bump ball. Buttler appeals half-heartedly and ump. Dharma wanted to be safe...

Another one gone upstairs. This time its Buttler claiming the catch. Raina is the batsman. Looks like a bump ball and it is. NOT OUT it should be and this time no-nonsense from the TV ump.

1.5 - Bumrah to Raina, 2 runs, overcompensates and drifts one onto the pads, flicked away square on the leg-side

1.5 - Bumrah to Raina, wide, arrows this down leg, Raina clips and misses

1.4 - Bumrah to Raina, no run, angled in around off, Raina respects it with a straight bat

Suresh Raina, left handed bat, comes to the crease

1.3 - Bumrah to Brendon McCullum, out Caught by Pandya!! Utter dross from Jasprit Bumrah but he manages to claim a wicket of that. Full toss outside off, McCullum slaps it hard after sauntering down the pitch. Pandya at backward point takes an absolute screamer. As mentioned earlier: Millimetres above the turf. Brendon McCullum c Pandya b Bumrah 6(4) [6s-1]

Bumrah to Brendon McCullum, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

Hardik Pandya is claiming the catch. The soft signal is OUT. TV umpire is presses into service. Baz is the batsman in question. Pandya looks very confident and so are his team-mates. He dived full length to his right and grasped it inches above the turf. The TV umpire is having a glance at numerous replays and requests Dharmasena to signal OUT.

1.2 - Bumrah to Finch, 1 run, fuller and outside off, Finch goes for a big leg-side whoosh and gets it off the bottom half past mid-on

1.1 - Bumrah to Finch, no run, back of a length around fifth stump channel, Finch taps with a vertical bat in front of cover-point

Jasprit Bumrah, right-arm medium, comes into the attack

Brendon McCullum 6(3) Finch 5(3) Southee 1-0-11-0

0.6 - Southee to Brendon McCullum, SIX, this should get Baz going. Southee errs in line a fraction and pays the price, McCullum has nailed that into the mid-wicket stands. Clattered!

0.5 - Southee to Brendon McCullum, no run, crashed off the middle but straight to extra cover

0.4 - Southee to Brendon McCullum, no run, dug in short at the batsman, McCullum aims for a pull and is beaten for pace

0.3 - Southee to Finch, 1 run, a rib-tickler this time, Finch gets into a bit of tangle as he seeks to pull, gets a soft leading edge which tantalizingly falls short of a forward diving Buttler at mid-wicket

0.2 - Southee to Finch, FOUR, a flamingo-pull to get off the mark. Length delivery on the pads, Finch times the stroke and places it behind square leg. No point chasing that lads!

0.1 - Southee to Finch, no run, jaffa! Greets Aaron Finch with an absolute peach. Pitched on a good length and swung away late in the corridor of uncertainty. Finch was squared up as he hopped in the crease and played inside the line, lucky not to have nicked that

Finch and Brendon McCullum are at the crease. Finch is on strike. Southee will open the attack
