The players are back out in the middle as we are ready to go again. KOL have their customary huddle. On the other hand, MUM certainly need a rollicking start from the Pocket Rocket, Parthiv Patel and Rohit Sharma. Russell has the new nut in his hand. He will look to befuddle the opening pair with his box of tricks. He has a slip in place

A 100-run second wicket stand between Gambhir and Pandey laid the foundations for KOL after the early loss of Uthappa. The duo took their time early on, before picking up pace and cracking half-centuries. Gambhir was blessed with a couple of reprieves and cashed in on it to build on his good work from the previous game. Pandey, the more fluent of the two today, took calculated risks and never let the pressure build. Russell, promoted to no. 4, blitzed away to 36 off 17 balls and propelled the home side to an intimidating score. MUM's bowlers took a bit of tap, with the exception of McClenaghan who thrived with his cutters. Can they now rally on to threaten this target?

Gambhir: "It is not easy to chase down at Eden Gardens and we have got 187. Hopefully, the bowlers will do the job for us. All that matters for us is where we are in the points table."

It took some time, but the T20 League has finally gathered steam. A superb game of cricket, where the power of MUM's star-studded batting line-up came to the fore, led by captain Rohit himself. They are up and running and have bounced back in style after their thumping at Wankhede. That's all for today. Hope you enjoyed our coverage. This is Sagar Chawla signing off on behalf of Krishna and my co-commentators Raju Peethala, and Bharath Ramaraj. Good night!

Rohit: "It's a high scoring ground, we have played enough to understand that. We were up for the chase for anything around 175 but they got around 10 extra. We bowled well in the end, at one point they looked like getting 200. It was Ricky's idea [to send McClenaghan up the order]. He sent the message across about sending the left-hander in as a leg-spinner was bowling. Mitch, being a powerhitter, we wanted to use that. And that got us the momentum we were looking for. We started well with the ball, lost it in the middle and didn't field well. Our fielding needs to improve. Our batting was superb. PP [Parthiv Patel] got off to a start, Mitch came in and scored those crucial 20 runs, and Buttler came in and played that crucial knock, we have seen him do that time and again for England. Someone needed to play right through the innings and it was my duty and responsibility. It's very important to get a win under the belt, but we were not desperate for it. Just wanted to do the basics right."

Rohit Sharma is the Man of the Match for his match-winning 84.

Gambhir: "If one of the top 3 batters bat through the innings, Rohit did that and it was tough for us. We needed to take wickets all the time. We didn't start well with the ball and missed our lengths. Credit goes to them for accelerating at the right time. We thought that spinners will be more useful than fast bowlers, so we played 3 spinners. It was a tactical move. There was some good batting from others as well, the likes of Jos Buttler. I can't point out one or two things why Mumbai do well here. They have a lot of quality players like Rohit Sharma and are a dangerous side. If someone like Rohit bats 20 overs, it's difficult to defend."

Russell chugged down Buttler in the penultimate over to give KOL a glimmer of hope. But Rohit calmly steered them home at his favourite hunting ground. It was Rohit, who initially powered their chase and when both McClenaghan and Buttler unfurled a volley of shots, he rotated the strike, sprinkled with the occasional boundary. John Hastings was the best bowler on show for KOL. But the spinners couldn't really make an impact. In fact, riding on Gautam Gambhir's crunchy fifty and Russell's pyrotechnics, KOL had ended up with a substantial total. Just that MUM showed their batting might to chase it down.

Rohit Sharma played with a royal flourish to hold the innings together and propel Mumbai to their maiden win of T20 League 2016. With 66 runs required off a mere 36 balls, the game was tantalizingly poised. However, Jos Buttler, with his domineering batsmanship, just changed the complexion of the game. In particular, Buttler's demolition job in the 16th over, where he cracked a couple of sixes and a boundary off Andre Russell turned the game on its head. He just played with a dash of untrammelled power today.

19.1 - Chawla to Pollard, 1 run, and Pollard softly nudges a leg-break in front of point to bring up the win. A thrilling game of cricket, in which Mumbai come up trumps by 6 wickets and 5 balls to spare. A stunning combined batting performance from the visitors to hunt this total down. Everyone chipped in and played their roles

18.5 - A Russell to Rohit, FOUR, now picks his spot over mid-off. Magnificent stuff from the MUM skipper. He's paced this knock like a dream, and is now getting them over the line. Full ball around off and he smears it over the infield

18.4 - A Russell to Rohit, FOUR, this is simply superb. The shot selection itself tells you how calm he is. Russell sticks to his plan of slanting it wide outside off, Rohit knows that third man is square and dabs it as late as possible to guide it fine

Bangs in a slower short of length delivery and .. moments later .. finds it coming right back at him after Buttler mistimes his flat-batted mow. The fierce batswing is misleading as the ball is slow to arrive, it's at a comfortable height though around the waist. Hastings tries to grab it with both hands but it pops out
