Bipul Sharma and Karn Sharma bowled well in tandem. Moises Henriques too bowled tidily. With three main spinners in KOL's ranks, it would be interesting to see how they will bowl on this deck.
Robin Uthappa, Gautam Gambhir and Manish Pandey essayed fluent knocks to pilot KOL to a competitive total. Gambhir and Uthappa gave the home team a rousing start. Manish then showcased exemplary footwork to counter the spinners. However, once Manish was run out, the visitors were able to curtail the run flow to some extent. Yusuf Pathan then played a handy innings to lift the scoring rate towards the end.

Gambhir: 'It was a professional effort after they had put us in. 160-165 on this wicket was a very good total. Everyone chipped in and it was very satisfying to see the guys hit the ball well. We have got Russell, if he would have fired we would have got 180 odd. The spinners did extremely well out there. Umesh got us off to a great start with those two wickets in the over. We bat really deep and it was a collective decision to go deep batting wise. We knew we could control the game with three spinners and we did do well. We have been unlucky to play one 12-over and one 10-over game. We would ideally want to play a full 40-over game everytime.'
Warner: 'We wanted to keep them under 150-160, but they managed to score 167. However, when you lose so many wickets under the first 10 overs, it is hard to come back. Their spinners bowled really well during the middle overs. Our next few games are on good wickets. Our bowlers need to step up there and hopefully, we can start well with the bat there.'
The hosts reached a competitive total mainly on the back of useful hands played by Robin Uthappa, Gautam Gambhir and Manish Pandey. KOL are now placed third in the points table with 11 points from 10 games.
HYD's batsmen put up a listless show as they hurtled towards a defeat. Once Umesh Yadav struck twice in a single over to send David Warner and Naman Ojha back to the pavilion, the visitors never recovered.
