Earlier, Rajasthan's bowlers bowled with unrelenting control to stifle the batsmen and put them in a position of strength. However, Kieron Pollard and Corey Anderson plundered the opposition at will to power the visitors to a competitive total. In fact, Pollard even smacked Tim Southee for 20 runs in the 19th over. In the end though, Mumbai suffered their third loss in a row.

Steven Smith and Ajinkya Rahane played fluent hands as Rajasthan registered their third successive win. Both the batsmen laid the foundation by finding gaps with a precise metre of timing. Even after Rahane was dismissed, Smith played with a calm head on his shoulders to score a fifty and steer them home. In the 17th over, he took on the gauntlet of facing up to Lasith Malinga and collected three boundaries. For Mumbai, Vinay Kumar bowled with good control with the new ball.
